I've never seen them, aren't they supposed to just be loud crazy action movies, why do they get all the hate?

They were never meant to be Oscar contenders.

When I watch a mindless action movie, I expect to be entertained. Instead, I was bored most of the time. A big part of it is the length. They have no business being almost 3 hours long.

The first one is the only one I would consider good.

because even summer blockbusters have a varying amount of quality. it's not as if you take "you're getting an oscar!" and the only other option is "loud bright fun!" because there is more to it than that

like just compare the transformers movies to your standard marvel movie. neither one is actually a legitimate great movie deserving of writing/directing/cinematography/acting/etc. awards, but the marvel movies are still entertaining.
the transformers movies just have constant editing issues, a cast that isn't interesting, go on forever, plot holes, etc. while asking you to "turn your brain off" and not be bored at the constant shuffling around of grey and brown into each other

I liked the first one. I was too wowed by megan fox back then. I forgot how old I was. And the movie was fresh cause first transformers movie and the cgi was great at the time. Story was OK.

But the second one made me feel like I got ripped off. I came back from the cinema a little annoyed/sad.

Watched the third on TV. They are just bad movies. I watch plenty of critically recarded as bad movies but I find most of them watchable. But transformers after the first movie, are Un watchable

Boring ,one dimensional and unlikable characters. No character development or growth. Grown inducing dialogue.

Action sequences are nothing but repetitive explosions and loud noise.

3 hours long. Most of which is devoted to boring flat characters .

I saw the 4th one in theaters and really regret it.

Bad writing
Bad acting
Bad cinematography
Bad CGI
Bad directing
Bad editing
Product placement out the ass

They just fail on all ends as a movie

The first one is the only one that most people can agree was kinda good. They, for whatever reason, didn't capitalize on anything that made it good.

First one was decent. Rest are too long and just not good.

The second one was where I washed my hands with the franchise. It was too long, boring as shit, and then they had the nerve to do a long exposition dump towards the end.
