I would never drive my own car for Uber and tack on the mileage burn my oil and gas and wear my tires out for less than minimum wage. I heard a while back that Lyft was considering renting cars out for people who want to drive for them. That is something I'd definitely consider. Had a similar situation at my workplace many years ago. Dude found out his wife was a major ho. Took it out on her to the point where he thought she was dead so he hung himself. She barely survived and had to get facial reconstruction surgery and is unrecognizable. Always kind of weird when it happens in your inner circle.

People keep using automation as fearmongering. People do this every 5 to 10 years. I bet 30 years ago, people were crying about computers taking over their jobs, but it created only more jobs.

I feel like a lot of people (mostly NEETs) want complete automation to happen, so they can make a case for something unsustainable like UBI.

OP makes this topic twice a week. Automation isn't gonna happen that fast. It'll be here eventually but not in 5 years like he states. People said the same thing about the industrial revolution. And oh look. We're fine.

Actually, I would say that automation is already here and it has created a lot of jobs. Most factories have a tons of automation, but it didn't take jobs away, it help created more jobs because the process became more efficient.

After people complained about computers replacing humans 30 years ago, over 80 million jobs were created. They have no case at all. It's all a bunch of lazy bums hoping for UBI so they don't have to put in any effort to make their lives better.

I guess I meant more along the lines of mass automation. But we are talking hundreds of years.

Wow, that's fucking nothing in todays money especially if that predicted recession happens and especially because this dude spent 17 years away from society a very fast moving society where people are quick to anger and even quicker to reach for their cellphones for those clicks,subscribes and likes. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy goes through a severe depression.

How's he gonna get a job with 17 years incarceration on his profile? No company is gonna hire someone like that even if they were found innocent and a victim, to them, they'll probably think since this person has only known incarceration for nearly 20 years he's just as bad as real criminals now.

It does suck. But there are companies out there that hire guys in his position because they get a tax break. Not sure how mentally stable he is after all the time spent away from society but hopefully he has a good support group around him.
