It felt like we were more like really close friends than lovers. So, I plucked up the courage to dump him when I went off to college. It was hard, but I think it was the right choice for both of us. Then I was sort of on and off FWB with my current boyfriend for a long time. We started to fight a lot about some random stuff and I guess he got tired of it and found someone else to go steady with. I was heartbroken over that because we had an unspoken devotion to each other. It was like being in a relationship without the label. He was off and away for quite a while and I found myself in tears over it quite often. Well, things worked out eventually so I guess we all lived and learned a bit from the experience, right? Relationships are complicated and messy sometimes. --- |

No one really addresses me by my last name because I'm not in that kind of professional environment that warrants it. It would be weird to call me by my middle name because it's a masculine name and I don't think of myself in masculine terms or pronouns so I can't even use it as a nickname. I had a cousin who went by his middle name almost exclusively. I think because his first name was generic, but his middle name was really unique so we wanted to stand out more. There are a few ways to shorten or cutely say my name because it's such an easy name to do that with, but I don't generally like it when people do that. Mostly because one form sounds kinda tomboyish and that's not me, one way just sounds silly, and the cute way I would only let my mother call me so no one else can do that. Then I have some derivatives of my name that are completely unique to the person that calls me by that name. Let's say for example my name was Jessica. It's not, but this is the best I could think of. Some people try to call me "Jess", but I think that's tomboyish. They've tried to call me "Jessers", but I think that's silly. Then my mom used to call me "Jesse", but only she was allowed. Then I have a cousin who calls me "Jesse Jam", but only she does that because she came up with it. Then an ex of mine used to call me "Jesseboo", which is obviously supposed to be affectionate. Other than that, people just call me by my full first name. Not even my boyfriend calls me by my name. That would weird me out. He just calls me "sweetie". Sometimes "dear" or "honey", but that's rare. AGAIN, MY NAME ISN'T ACTUALLY JESSICA, IT'S JUST A STAND IN FOR MY REAL NAME. I don't think anyone here knows my real name, baring those I know personally or those that have doxed me or remember when I was doxed. Anyway, I don't think about it too much since I don't think of myself attached to my name. I just think of myself as... "me". But I'm pretty sure that's normal. My grandma moved to an apartment, but hasn't removed all her stuff from her house yet so we had the place all to ourselves. We figured we'd get ALL our clothes clean so we stripped down naked in order to clean the clothes we were wearing. We decided to go upstairs and lay in a random bed that's in a room. While just laying there, we heard a noise. Suddenly, my sister's boyfriend popped into the room brandishing his gun! Though, after he realized it was us, lowered his gun and put it back in his car. Apparently, my grandma's house got robbed this past week so he was on edge and thought we were the same robbers since he didn't recognize my car parked out back. Lucky for us, he looks before he shoots. It was also embarrassing that he saw us both naked. He was originally there to mow the lawn since he's been doing that for my grandma to keep the lawn managed even though she doesn't live there anymore. I didn't know there was a robbery and I also didn't know he was coming that day to do the lawn or I would have warned him. It just goes to show a little communication can go a long way. --- |

I was walking a family member's dog when I was little, but the dog was big and untrained so it saw some birds and bolted with me holding the leash. I skid down the tar road I was on and scraped up my hand pretty bad. One vertical one on the top of my right ring finger. I don't know what it's from. A tiny round one on my left inner forearm. I was opening a package with a knife and slipped and stabbed myself. A sort of "V" shaped one on the inside of my right pointer finger. It's from surgery from getting something removed. Another vertical one on the top of my right ring toe. Don't remember how I got that one, either. It's looking like I'll have two red scars on my right leg from ingrown hairs that when they finally popped open and the puss drained out from the infection, it did too much damage to the skin. But still might heal, just might take a long time. And finally, my largest scar... A completely vertical one stretching all the way down my chest. This one is from open heart surgery when I was just 3 years old. It's probably my most noticeable scar because you can see it when I wear a V-neck shirt. It's especially visible when I'm wearing just a bra/bikini or nothing at all because it goes right between my breasts. Also, there's a smallish scar right below it and to the side from where they had to drain fluid out of my cavity during/after the surgery. --- |

For the younger crowd, ages 18-24, it's a matter of nervousness and fear of the opposite sex, especially boys towards girls. I see more and more young adult males completely afraid to approach females for all sorts of reasons. Lack of confidence in themselves, social awareness of rape culture, overexposure to news stories about the consequences of being too aggressive with women, and a general delay in development, i.e., not really taking fully care of themselves as adults until their 30s or later. Just stunted growth emotionally and mentally. As for the older set, ages 25-30+, it's a pile on of stress. Stress from work, stress from poverty, stress from family issues, both immediate and extended, and declining health. Not to mention lack of faith in society and increased bitterness over their lot in life. There's just too much on their minds to really get in the mood. Plus, hormone levels fall steadily year after year so it becomes that much harder to become aroused and stay that way. Of course, that's just my personal conjecture. I might be totally wrong, but these are just some things I've observed in my time both watching humans and getting frisky with them. What are your thoughts, CE? --- |
