I went to what was considered a good/great public school and then went to a CC that they said was supposed to be a good one (Obama came here for our nanotech program) but it was significantly easier than high school like the standard felt much lower. I would get C's on my essays in high school and got nothing less than an A on any writing assignment in CC.

The more advanced science classes are much harder than at a University.

I was in community college for 8 years and I can definitely tell you that its more easier to manage 4 college courses than 7 or 8 high school classes... Plus you're not going to every single class everyday unless you have those courses that are 1 hr everyday.

Tbf I also took like 8 years on and off due to health problems. CC is for people with other conditions that can make it take longer, like parenthood and shit

I voted other. I was a dumb, lazy WoW kid in high school but had my big boy pants on for college. While there are some standard core classes everyone takes, there's usually a whole different set of curriculum available that high school doesn't have access to. I went to one of the better community colleges in the state and tended to have a harder time in the core "math, english, history, science" classes but had it significantly better with other material like anthropology, logic, philosophy, law, and criminal justice (which I then went on to major in).

So it depends on the school and you as a person.

I think it's a matter of perspective. I got terrible grades and failed many classes in high school, especially math. I've always been bad at math. After ten years I decided I need to go to school again so I took the placement test at the local community college and bombed the math test. I was in a remedial math class and I was literally getting anxiety taking the quizzes and tests and stuff. Finally I settled down, got an A, finished early. Took Statistics the following quarter, felt more comfortable got an A.

If I had taken that in high school, I probably would have failed.

I don't think that that's an argument for community college being easier, I just think it's a reflection of the idea that a person grows, matures, changes their outlook and approaches to things, gains some experience, and that kind of attitude can help make a person more successful at work, college, etc., even when they just absolutely did not get it all throughout the K-12 system.

I think community college in many ways is more difficult than high school just because you're expected to demonstrate at least a little more discipline. You don't necessarily have your parents there to encourage you (if they did that in high school, idk), you don't have classes every single day, the workload is a little different, and if you're doing online courses then you basically have to come up with your own study schedule entirely which is not something they really require in most high schools.

In Ireland it is. If only because high school is terrible in every fucking way possible and it's not about educating you at all. It's about driving as much information as possible into your head so that when you finish and take the state exams you can pass. Most colleges here start you over with the idea that you know very little evne if you did amazing in the state exam

As someone mentioned, perspective is a huge aspect of the difficulty.
As someone with a bachelors degree, the easiest time I had was my senior year of university because I was exxtremely motivated, the finish line was in sight and built the confidence that I could do anything academically.

In high school I was lazy, unmotivated, and felt doomed in life so I just gave up.

But if I were to go back to high school now, Id fucking destroy it. Probably a 4.1, because of the knowledge and outlook I now have.

Anyway, I took Integral Calculus at a community college and it was hard as shit

Just as hard as Calc 2 is at universities, it depends a lot on the teacher even though the finals are standardized ussually

In America the state exit exam is so fucking easy that I legit got a perfect score. Im not flexing either, I had a C+ gpa average in high school

I don't even think my state had an exam for graduation.

We had a senior project that consisted of hands-on experience doing something, then writing a paper about that subject, and then giving a presentation about your experience and your thesis paper.

I didn't do really do the hands-on portion, I wrote my paper in one weekend (and it was two weeks late). I don't remember if I got a grade on it or what the grade was, but I still graduated >_>

That's the SAT right? Based on English and math?

In Ireland it's way different, you get an exam based on what subjects you pick and they're pretty in depth tro the point outside of something like Math, you're expected to memorize fucking 500+ pages of a book per subject "just in case"

SAT / ACT (two different tests with different scoring and testing criteria but which kind of fulfill the same function) are not state graduation tests but rather college entrance tests - the higher your scores, the better you look to colleges.

There are ways around it, like if you're in the military - many schools will be inclined to waive this.

HS was infinitely harder than CC. At CC I could just show up hungover to take math tests. It was a less stressful speed run of everything I had already learned in HS and attendance wasn't mandatory.

Then I got to university where attendance was mandatory and I had to write so many papers that it gave me permanent brain damage.

I will say yes because my classes were fun and easy at my community college. In HS math really messed me up.

It's highly variable.

In my experience, AP was more rigorous than CC, which was more rigorous than standard HS classes.

It can be easier than high school, but it depends heavily on what your course load then, your course load now, your growth as a person, and the kind of random crap that just happens in people's lives during those years. It can also be much harder, depending on these same factors.

in high school we just each read a paragraph for one hour in a textbook and then go to the next class

there are guys rap battling in class and girls dancing and worrying about their pregnancy

in community college you have to take tests and cant get a D with just handing random assignments and barely passing like in high school

I took community college classes in university summers, they were hilariously easy.

I was considered the smartest person in my class and I am by all standards a "C's get degrees" kind of guy. I think a lot of the people in CC are highschool dropouts/failures, in my experience

It was easier to me, but like everyone else is saying: the mindset is different.

Highschool's forced on you. You must be there from 8am to 3pm. The school (for the most part) picks what classes you take and decides your schedule for you. For better or for worse you're probably there with the same set of people and opinions and attitudes you've been with from elementary and middle school.

Community college gives you a lot more freedom with what classes you take and when you take them. You have the added benefit of actually wanting to be in the classes and having a more solid and prestigious goal to pursue. You've got a wider range of people (at the very least the age range is bigger) you're surrounded with so you get some new perspectives on things and different questions are being asked.

Coursework is equal or more advanced, but with what you took from lower education paired with a higher drive to learn, it turns out to be easier.
