…In its place, writhing mounds of unspeakable horrors fill in its place. Horrendous cacophonies of maddening noises fill the empty space as Brandish huddles over screaming and trying to shut his eyes and ears

“Mental wounds are fair game I take it?”

Vile piles shift and stir in this nightmarish place. If one were to look carefully, they would see the corpses of Vibe and Algus blended in somewhere…

Brandish cried out in horror as he felt things munch on him. His head felt like it was splitting as he couldn’t process any of what was happening! This place…these things…assaulted his mind as well as his flesh

…and as that host had just finished saying…without Brandish's little scapegoat, he was really just a sniveling worm!

“Have fun…”

King vanishes away from the distorted space, leaving Brandish alone with the horrors that lied here!

Blood would leak from his orifices perpetually as they continuously mended and burst! The noise and sights assaulted his mind utterly breaking him in short order!

Brandish is left a horrid broken mess covered in blood, urine, and other unspeakable things. He just wanted this nightmare to end…which he could do…

Not even really thinking…Brandish would eventually reach out for that magical blade that had been left for him…

…and he would finally put an end to this…

He drove the blade into his own chest, and vanished into the eldritch Flesh…

The Nightmare was over.

Brandish’s eyes narrowed

“Excuse me?”

King raised his hands to the side nonchalantly

“I already know your story buddy!”

Brandish wasn’t sure how to respond to that…Was he bluffing?

“I am aware of your little parlor trick…Having a lady take your hits for you against her will huh? Gotta say, not very “prince like” but hey…whatever ya gotta do to feel like a big boy!”

Brandish took offense to this, snarling at King

“Are you mocking me!?”

King’s tone shifted…

“Yes. Yes I am mocking you, you little toad. Let me tell you that there are things…powers beyond your world that makes that magic charm on you look like mere slight of hand! I will assure you that Snow White was not harmed by your magic here, and she will remain unharmed even if I were to dismember you piece by fucking piece!”

A vision of Snow White appears briefly in the dark, showing her going about her business without issue.

Brandish glared at King and took out his saber. It was still on him, ready for a fight!

Brandish took a battle stance, slightly calming himself!

“So then, care to see if you can make good on that claim?”

Even if this man was telling the truth, Brandish’s magic did still seem to neutralize his wounds! He had just proven that. If this were to come to a fight well…at the very least Brandish had that little advantage over all those poor fools that fell before!

King reached into his cloak sleeve and pulled out a miraculous looking sword. It sparkled with multiple colored lights that stuck out even more brilliantly in the darkness around them

“I think this will do the trick…”

A bead of sweat made its way down Brandish’s forehead as that sword appeared…he readied himself waiting for King to make the first strike…

King pointed the sword out at the tiny Prince…

…and then simply let it drop from his hand!

The sword embedded itself into the floor!

Brandish just looked at King with confusion…Was this a trick? Would he perform a sneak attack or-

“There ya go…You can use that to kill yourself.”

Brandish was utterly dumbfounded by what King had just said! Kill himself!?

“W-what are you-“

King turned his back to Brandish

“Yeah I didn’t come here to fight you. I just came to give you that so you could eliminate yourself from the game! I assure you that will easily bypass your little magic so yeah…you can ju-“

“WHAT!?!?”

Brandish was furious now

“HOW DARE YOU!”

Brandish lunged forth with his saber to impale King through the back!

…King’s eye’s flash in the dark as he spins and a scythe like blade materializes form the air! With a swift swing, Brandish’s blade is cleanly broken! The dislodged blade embeds itself into the ground not far away from the sword King left for him

“Did you honestly think I was going to fight a coward like you? Please…you aren’t worth my time. You are no true prince…merely a shallow weak willed man!”

Brandish clenched his teeth as this man insulted him!

“Oh…before I leave you to whatever comes next…let me just inform you of something. Your little charm helps out against ordinary physical wounds…but…”

King snaps his fingers and the darkness disappears…

“C-craaaap!!!!”

Chi-Chi ran as nightmarish things were at her heels!

The golden door shined like a beacon in front of her as she made her way to it…but the beasts were closing in, ready to tear into her flesh…

When she made it, she swung the door open and tried to jump inside! A stray tentacled monster wraps around her ankle as she starts making her way into the light…

…She responds by frantically slamming the door on to its head! With a final fierce slam the monster’s head flat out explodes like a watermelon, releasing her!

She stumbles backward away from the door…and seems to start falling…

A strange light engulfs her...

“What is this?”

Brandish was alone now…When he was dragged through that damnable portal everything had gone black. The tentacles were gone…the beasts were gone…he didn’t know what to make of it…”

A spotlight seemed to shine down at him and he glanced at his own hands…He seemed no worse for wear as he expected. Those creatures had no prayer of actually killing him…

…Then a familiar voice catches his attention

“Wellll tough break huh?”

Brandish glances up and finds that man again. King just held his hands at his waist…just shaking his head.

“You…”

King nodded

“Yes, me! Seems that girl really kicked your ass huh? Well I did say that leaving through anywhere else would lead to consequences….Needless to say you were eliminated!”

Brandish bared his teeth for a moment…the composed himself before rising to his feet

“Hmhm…so…what now?”

King just tilted his head

“Is this the part where you try to “eliminate" me? To kill me? That is why you are here is it not?”

King didn’t say anything

Brandish merely let out a mocking laugh

“Ohoho dear fellow…I am afraid it’s much more complicated than that! You see….you can’t “eliminate” me.”

King tilted his head again and opened his mouth comically

“Oh really? You want to stay in the game? Well I mean…”

Brandish smiled

“You see…you can’t kill me. You may have showed your…prowess in the beginning. I will admit you do appear quite formidable…but I am far beyond those knaves you dispatched earlier…”

King chuckled a little

“Oh?”

Brandish continued

“Indeed…besides I can’t truly be harmed. I assume you have been observing and noticed my battles yes?”

King didn’t say anything as Brandish cut his hand with his saber. After a brief moment the wound vanished!

“No matter what wounds I may sustain, they will simply vanish. Any mortal blow, any dismembering strike, all will be transferred to someone else…to a miss Snow White. Now I wouldn’t want for her to sustain any more injuries, and you probably wouldn’t want to inflict them s-“

King raised a hand

“Yeah I am gonna have to stop you riiiight there.”

However, a shuffling insectoid looking creature jumped in front of her! Just as she prepared to knock its block off though someone grabbed her by the wrist and yanked her back. That person thrust forward with a saber and lodged it into the creature’s noggin!

It was Prince Brandish! He had…helped her?”

“Well that was close mmm?”

Chi-Chi could have easily handled it. She glared at him

“Yeah, sure. Now if you don’t mind”

Chi-Chi tried to leave, only for Brandish to maintain his grip

“H-Hey!”

Brandish chuckled

“Now there is no need to run off without me! I will protect you…for a little something of course”

Chi-Chi tried to break away but this guy was stronger than he looked! Chi-Chi was definitely getting some bad vibes from this situation

“Screw off you bastard!”

Chi-Chi continued to try to wrestle away from him, but he maintained his hold. Monsters started to slowly close in on them…Not like Brandish was really afraid of them of course…

“Bastard? You wench! How dare you speak to me that way!?”

His grip tightened

“You should feel honored to be escorted by me! You bitch…perhaps I should teach you a lesson!”

Chi-Chi was getting a little nervous now

“I always get what I want!”

He glared at her fiercely as he tried to pull her toward him…

…Now he’d done it…

Chi-Chi shot back a glare of her own and bared her teeth at him

“I SAID-“

Chi-Chi shot back her leg and punted Brandish right in the balls!

“OOHoooffff….”

Even for someone like Brandish…something like that would at least take the wind out of him!

“FUCK. OFF!!!!!!!”

Chi-Chi does a quick spin and delivers a side kick into his gut! He is hit with such tremendous force that he is sent literally flying like a rocket! He had clearly underestimated the strength of this woman!

“GGrRaAAAAa”

Vibe and Algus, now back to back against various monsters, hear a sound approaching

“What the f-“

WHAAAAAM!!!

Brandish crashes into the two, breaking their formation and sending them tumbling toward a nearby nightmare portal!

Algus blade clangs to the ground as he tumbles down toward the boundary of the portal! Before he can get his bearings, a mass of tentacles reach out from the portal and engulf him, dragging him inside!

“ARGH SON OF A BITCH GET OFF! GET OFF!!!”

Vibe would be knocked too close to the portal as well as the tentacles latch on to him. He tries to fend them off with his spear before a nearby wolf chomps down on his arm, causing him to drop his spear! Before he could make more use out of his vibration powers he is dragged inside!

This left only Brandish left fighting against the hold! He frantically slashed out at the horde and his bindings, but it would all prove fruitless! Brandish reaches out his hand toward Chi-Chi as he dragged into the darkness!

Chi-Chi looked on at the scene nervously…She hadn’t meant to harm the other two but…it seemed she had accidentally killed three birds with one…kick?

With the last line of defense gone, nothing remained to hold off the horde. Those that were not already devouring the corpses of those that had been killed earlier turned their attention to Chi-Chi

As Judy saw this occur…she found the courage to act! This guy may have been a bit of a jerk, but he had helped her...She had failed to help Vaan but she could at least try to help him!

Judy grabbed a knife from the table and leaped onto the horror’s back! With a savage cry she sunk the knife into an exposed bulbous eyeball!

“KREREEeEEeEEEE”

The tentacled monster screeched and thrashed around bleeding before knocking Judy off! It swings its tentacle at Judy and smacks her with tremendous force, sending her flying down the street into stone!

However, the interference allows Vibe to break free and drive the spear through its head! Killing it gruesomely! He catches sight of the injured rabbit

“Grrgh damn it”

“AAAAARRAAARGH”

Out of nowhere a maddened humanoid born of blood sprints at him and nearly tackles him to the ground! He is forced back into the fight! Guess that rabbit would have to fend for herself unless he could deal with em quick!

“MMmm…u..huh…?”

Judy blurred vision sees a red eyed creature crawl toward her. A bloodied monster with rustled fur approached the fallen rabbit slowly! Its long tentacle of a tongue danced in the air as it slowly extended out of its maw like a snake!

“N..nn.n-n-….”

It crept along her little leg and crept up her body before tightening around her waist! She began to feel herself being helplessly dragged to her doom

“I…gotta…”

She struggled, but that blow had taken a lot out of her…she felt dizzy…

…She could see them…

…The things looking down from the above…

…Latched to buildings….high in the sky….looking down…

…So many eyes…

“U-…a-ah”

Judy could feel herself slipping…soon she would become just another meal for this horrid feast.

She closed her eyes…waiting for it to all be over quickly…She wanted to wake up from this horrible nightmare and everything would be okay!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaAAARGGHH!!!!!!!!

The slimy tongue spasmed around the little cop and went slightly limp! Judy, feeling the tension weaken, opened her eyes to see what had happened!

She weakly sat up and saw the monster’s eyes glazed over and fresh blood spurting from its mouth.

A shining blade shot out red sparks in the air as it was withdrawn from the beast’s skull! A young woman stood above it glaring down the street.

Hitomi was tired of it all…tired of hurting people!

Judy had offered her comfort when she knew she didn’t deserve it! She wouldn’t abandon her here to these monsters!

Judy blinked weakly at the woman looking at her

“Y…you…”

Before Judy realized what was happening, she found herself lifted up off the ground! Hitomi heaves her over her shoulder and tries to maintain a hold of her with one hand while fending off monsters with the other!

With that magical sword she cleaved down the obstacles in her way as she ran down the street toward the way to salvation!

“Come on…come on…”

Hitomi grasped on to the handle and swung the door open!

The last thing Judy saw before she and Hitomi were engulfed in a brilliant light was someone running toward them being chased by the horde…

For while she is momentarily distracted, a sharp blade dicked itself into her own neck and then through her eye! Her head slams down to the table…shortly followed by Weevil’s. Their blood pools around on top of their plates and leftovers

“MeeEEOOEOEWWW!!”

The cats started to panic at the sudden bloodshed and starting hopping around the table hissing at the other tributes! The Crazy Cat Lady flailed around and was about to rise to grab them and run, but a blade suddenly jammed itself through the back of her skull through her open mouth!

She let out once last nonsensical gurgle before collapsing on the table and sliding off to the floor!

Judy jumped up on to the table and glanced around to find the culprit! Vibe reached for his spear as the others rose up for their own weapons…

Judy manages to spot a little fellow scamper away into the darkness and toward the Golden Door! As the brilliant light shines from the door opening, the culprits silhouette is plain to see

The World’s Angriest Boy glances back at them all with that scowl of his…holding a blood knife in his hand! He passes through the door…

Judy opens her mouth to shout

“THER-“

The door shut with an echoing slam…and then…



The room began to shutter and shake, catching the remaining people there off balance!

The ceiling gradually began to break apart like glass and fly off into the heavens above! The walls appeared to collapse around them and the way to the door…seemed to stretch further away!

All around the Lovecraftian city, beasts and abominations became invigorated by the crimson moon above.



It was their time…their Feast!

The moon shined down on their meal!

The tributes had all risen from their seats as the door to their salvation suddenly flew away down the open street! The sound of howls and shuffling abominations caught their attention!

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRGGH”

Vibe held his spear up as various wolf like monsters shuffled from the dark corners of this world!

Well this was a familiar scene…only 100X worse! Judy’s heart began to race like mad as the monsters started to pour out!

“I fucking knew something like this would happen!”

Vibe swiped his spear and cleaved off a monster’s jaw! They were merely fodder of what was to come though…

Judy nervously pointed at something

“Wh-Wh-What is that!”

Vibe looked over to see that a crimson portal had started to open…and from it a twisted amalgam of flesh shuffled through along with other beings beyond their comprehension!

Hitomi stared up into the unforgiving sky, blankly into the Blood Moon

“We…Are we all going to die here..?”

Algus did not hesitated and dived into the approaching horde! Cleaving into the beasts of nightmare with his sword

“Vile beasts! I will show you just how low you are in this world!”

Algus jammed his blade through a wolf’s eye!

Chi-Chi got up and broke off into a sprint…Brandish chased after her!

Vibe doesn’t have as great a time as he fends off an incoming abomination! Tentacles writhed around his hands as he wrestled with it….

A horrible maw began to open from under the writhing mass on its face…threatening to dig into the metahuman.

“My friend…I…k-k…I didn’t mean…t…”

Judy touched Hitomi’s hand and looked up at her with a smile

“Hey hey…we’ve all been through some crazy stuff. I’m sure you didn’t mean it…with all those monsters out there well…we’re all kinda on edge right? Don’t blame yourself!”

Little did Judy know that Hitomi had accidentally killed her own savior earlier…

…Still thought, Hitomi looked at the little rabbit girl and gave a weak smile and nod!

Things seemed to be going well as the feast gradually revitalized the weary tributes!

Prince Brandish had ended up seated beside Chi-Chi and had been eyeing her up most of the Feast. She didn’t notice at first but eventually it became hard to ignore…

“…What?”

Brandish smiled and raised an eyebrow

“Oh nothing, just admiring the beauty that lies before me.”

Chi-Chi’s eyes narrowed…

“Don’t get any ideas buddy…”

Brandish smirked at the woman…seems she has become popular with the men lately!

“Oh…what ideas could you be inferring dear..?”

Chi-Chi glared at the Prince

“I’ll tell you what I told that gun toting jerk. I’m married and I am not interested!”

Could she have been referring to Reaver? Brandish had noticed he wasn’t present amongst them. Shame, he seemed like an interesting fellow at the very least.

“Hmhm well I’ll have you know my dear, if I want something…I get it.”

Chi-Chi glared back at Brandish…everyone in the room could feel the tension rising…

…and as if on cue…Yhwach stood up!

“Well this has been a pleasure…I bid you all farewell…”

The invisible bonds that had held them here were gone…but there was still plenty of feast to be enjoyed! Perhaps this one was deciding to play it safe and abscond earlier in case things were to break out?

Some others were about to get up when Yhwach suddenly blitzed to the exit with blinding speed

…Indeed there was a reason Yhwach had risen at that instant…

…For he had seen what was to come…

…Did they honestly believe that nothing would happen here? Even if this reward had proven to not be trapped in itself…something else had been coming ever since they stepped foot into this room…

…and before it occurred, Yhwach intended to make a prompt exit! He opened his mouth to speak as he opened the golden door and stepped through it.

“…and good luck…”

And as the door shut…the nightmare would truly begin

All the lights suddenly flickered out at once, leaving only the light of the moon above to partially illuminate them!

That soft light would gradually change color…

Vibe and some of the others looked up to find that the moon that seemed to be taunting them this whole time had changed…

Now it was shining a crimson red…

…and it was during this shift that someone amongst them would strike!

Weevil opened his mouth to speak

“Hey what’s going o-“

SLASH

“HUrggh..!!GGraaggrgl”

A blade cleaved into his neck out of nowhere! He clutched at his throat as Katara turned to him!

She proceeded to try to use her bloodbending to try to at least stabilize it…for some reason this ability seemed to be energized during this new strange phenomenon…not like it would matter though

“So…anyway..I’d like to present you all with a little something!”

King clapped his hands and various delicious meals appeared on the long table before them!

“A fresh feast to refresh you after your harsh journey! Dig in!”

Some of the tributes looked at King with suspicion…

“Oh no no no its not poisoned or anything! Would I lie to you?”

There was an awkward silence

“Well don’t eat if you don't want, you are just screwing over yourselves. Its not like you can leave here until some of you have some! Speaking of which let me get into that before I go! So yeah, enjoy your feast and all then you are free to leave through the golden door over yonder! Be warned though, don’t exit anywhere else from here except that exit…otherwise there will be…consequences.”

A chill ran down some of the spines of the tributes

“Well I’m gonna get going! Got some stuff to prepare for! Ya know, host stuff. Anyway, enjoy! Try not to kill each other!”

With that, the portal disappeared and King disappeared…leaving a wary crowd of tributes alone with each other…

Judy Hopps eyed over the dish in front of her then glanced over to Vibe who was seated right beside her

“Do…do you think he was telling the truth.”

Vibe shrugged

Others in the crowd nervously looked at their dishes as if they were expecting some sort of death trap to be triggered the second they tried to take a bite…

That was until Yhwach confidently starting dining on his own meal. Everyone’s eyes shot up towards him as he calmly chewed with a smile

For Yhwach knew that this was indeed not poisoned or trapped…

Yhwach just met everyone’s gaze with a calm and cocky smile before returning to his meal

Katara sighed

“Well…I guess…”

Katara took a bite of her own meal and let out a satisfied moan. It was actually really good!

Realizing the food was safe, Weevil immediately started scarfing down as much food as he could fit into his mouth…

Chi-Chi did the same. Sure she didn’t have the endless appetite of her husband but she could chow down when the opportunity presented itself!

Algus dined on a fresh steak, keeping an eye open to watch if any of the others decided to pull anything funny

The Crazy Cat Lady shouted like crazy waving forks in the air as some of her cats hopped up on the table and nibbled on the cuisine in front of her

The World’s Angriest Boy didn’t move…He just sat there with his knife and fork looking at the food…unflinching…

Hitomi didn’t seem to eat much either…She sat to the other side of Judy Hopps looking vacantly down at her meal…Judy Hopps paused from eating her salad and looked up at Hitomi

“Hey…something bothering ya?”

Hitomi looked over at Judy and then back to her plate…

“I…I don’t deserve this. I killed them…Oh…”

Hitomi’s hands shook at the table. Judy looked at her nervously…

Vibe scoffed as he chewed on a haunch of meat

“Mmyea? Pretty sure most of us killed shum folks by dis point..mm…”

Hitomi shook her head…heavy bags lined her eyes as she continued to stare vacantly into space

Chapter 8 (FEAST): Blood Feast

Prince Brandish would be the last one to arrive…

As he passed through the giant doors of the building at the heart of this nightmare city, he saw the remaining tributes sitting around a large table!

“Oho looks like the last straggler arrived!”

An invisible force jerks Brandish forward! He flies down the hallway and into the last remaining seat!

Brandish grunts as he sat back into his seat! Glancing around everyone seems to be at unease. It wouldn’t be too farfetched a guess that they too were subject to such a welcome.

Candles ignited all around the fancy looking room as the moon shined down on them from a glass dome ceiling!

“Congratulations on making it so far! You guys are tougher than you look!

Brandish glanced up as a skull faced visage appeared from some sort of portal. Brandish smirked

“Well if it isn’t our enigmatic host! Fancy to see you again so soon.”

King clapped his hands together and smiled…at least they thought he was behind that skull.

“Oh you know me, I love talking with you all!”

Brandish chuckled as he struggled to stand up…it seemed he, along with everybody else, were being held down in their seats for the moment

“Mmhm yes well…care to explain why are currently being…restrained?”

King slapped his hands on his cheeks to express surprise

“Oh! Well, I just planned a little shindig and I didn’t want all of you to leave to the next floor without enjoying yourselves! I mean…we are down to less than a third of you left and I just thought you guys might want a little break!”

Brandish glanced around…less than a third?”

Vibe’s travels are relatively unmolested after splitting up from Negan! Well…aside from the stray mad men or two…or three…but he dispatches them well enough!

Things seemed to be going pretty okay!

Eventually he would approach the steps to a large castle looking building

“Well if that doesn’t scream “way out” I dunno what does.”

As he is about to proceed he hears the sound of snarling and vicious barks!

“Great…what now.”

He looks over his shoulder to find a blue eyed wolf chasing down what looked to be a rabbit! It was running in his direction…argh why couldn’t it just run somewhere else and lead that wolf away

“HELP!!”

Vibe raised an eyebrow…oh…a talking rabbit…nothing out of the ordinary here!”

She ran in his direction seeking aid…

“Sigh…son of a bitch.”

Vibe readies his spear as she approaches. Judy could only hope this guy was friendly!

As the wolf jumped at the two of them, Vibe jammed the spear clean through its mouth! It begins to shrivel and its eyes sink into its head disintegrating until only a skull remains!

Judy just watches this with wide eyed shock…

Vibe glances down at her

“What the hell is your story now?”

Judy jumps back and nervously tries to answer

“W-well I’m Judy, nice to meet ya! Um…so I was sent here like you I’m assuming and well…things having been going so great for me here…in this place with all the predators and wolves and…”

Vibe just taps his foot.

“Right right so a nice guy named Vaan saved me earlier, but then another one of those wolves found me, and then it chaaased me, and I ran, and I was scared, and I really need to shut up, and I-.”

Vibe just raised a hand

“Just…stop…okay I get it.”

Judy stopped and looked up at him

“So uh…what are you doing?”

“Me?”

Vibe glances back at the large building behind him

“I’m finding a way out of here…and I think this place is my best bet”

Vibe turns to leave! As he begins heading up the steps Judy follows him

“Mind if I…stick with you for now?”

Vibe rolled his eyes

“Whatever floats your boat…I could always use bait in case I run into something nasty in there”

Judy stops as Vibe continues forward

“Y-your joking right? Right..?”

Vibe didn’t answer and continued forward…

Judy weighs her options…but a howling sound sends her scampering to his side!

Together the two make their way toward the building...

…Where the way out would await them…

Little did they know that the others would inevitably be drawn here as well. By chance or by something else…

What lied inside?

Hitomi shook her head. Another trick…this had to be another trick.

She glanced over her shoulder and saw another body. A young man lied dead with stab wounds in the chest and a few claw wounds on his side...

Vaan had been slain…

This was no trick…she had killed them.

Hitomi looked back and forth between them crying to herself.

The sword hit the floor as she cradled Daenerys body

She was a monster…she was no better than the other beasts and mad men that roamed this city

Trump, Daenerys, Vaan…she killed them all. She may not have meant to…but…

“EEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!”

Hitomi lets out a horrible shriek which echoes into the unforgiving night…

“Hmm?”

Negan looks over his shoulder as he hears a shriek come from somewhere

“Mmm…wonder if some poor fuck just got killed.”

Negan continues his walk, casually swinging his bat around. As he reaches a clearing he begins pondering…

“Where the fuck am I?”

Negan glances around looking for some inkling of the way out when he notices someone looking down at him from a nearby roof top

“Hmhmhm…”

Negan looks back at the strange man silhouetted against the moonlight

“The fuck are you laughing about?”

The man shrugs

“It’s unfortunate we were to cross paths…Unfortunate for you anyway.”

Negan holds Lucille over his shoulder and spits on the ground

“Oh? You looking a fight mother fucker?”

The man descends and lands on the ground…barely phased

“It won’t be much of a fight I assure you.”

Negan chuckles and shakes his head

“Ohoho we got us a fucking tough guy huh? You really want to fucking do this? Lucille here could always go for more! Fucked up plenty of those freaks so far tonight!

The man smiled and took out his sword

“After you.”

“Alright mother fucker!”

Negan rushed forward with his bat and swung at the man. All he had to do was get in hit and he’d be done for! However…

As he swung…he noticed something was off.

The man was no longer in front of him and all he had caught was air

“What the fu-“

With a swift motion the man appeared again and effortlessly cut off Negan’s hands at the wrist!

“ARRRGH MOTHER FUCKER!”

Lucille hit the ground as Negan stumbled back!

It was as he said…it was barely a fight. Negan realized far too late that he was way out of his league here…and Yhwach knew this.

Yhwach slowly approached the man and raised his sword to the man’s neck

“Any less words?”

Negan grunted and glared at Yhwach

“F-“

SLASH

Yhwach immediately cut Negan’s head off and dashed forward.

He had seen it already…

When that bat had fallen it had left that explosive enchantment near him.

Negan would have distracted him with his vulgar speech enough for the explosion to catch him off guard from behind…

…That would have been unfortunate…so Yhwach chose to simply avoid this outcome.

He struck Negan down and glanced over at a particularly large building. Some sort of cathedral or castle of sorts.

He chuckles and starts making his way there…

“What-“

Reaver finds himself struck with something as he and his hooded adversary were dealing with each other. They both had been struck with the carcass of that poor lad and are both sent tumbling over a railing down below!

SPLASH!

Reaver collides with the damp ground! Foul aromas fill his nostrils as he notices just where he had landed…some sort of sewer.

“Ugrgh...”

Reaver rises to his feet and clutches his side. It was a long fall, but he was a Hero…he could take a fall such as this…although not without taking a good bit of damage

The other one…hadn’t been as lucky as he would soon find out

“Argh blast…when I get a hold of-“

Reaver notices the sound of what seemed like…munching.

Reaver turns and finds a bloated disgusting pig chewing on the corpse of the hooded man. This was no ordinary pig of course…it was giant…and had more than a single pair of eyes.

All of them blinked at him curiously…before the Pig let out a horrific squeal

As the pig charged at him Reaver reached for his firearm only to realize all too late that he had dropped in in the fall! Then all at once he is tackled to the ground!

How ironic really. For the pompous Hero of Skill to meet his end here. Down with the trash!

The Pig mauls Reaver until only a bloody stain remains!

As her senses return to her Daenerys hears the sound of nightmarish gurgling. There were two of them stumbling in her direction flailing jagged edges along various fleshy tentacles!

She dodges to the side and gets her bearings as she holds both of the malformed abominations in her sights. As she draws her blade she notices something peculiar

One of them ran to its brethren and seemed to merge with it, their bladed extensions jammed into each other as they began to form a larger mass. It then turned to her, and a slimy blade burst forth as it charged forth to cut her down!

She reached for he blade in kind and sought to defend herself against the assault!

As she swung her own sword against the exposed meaty bits something unexpected happened

The bladed protrusion glowed with an eldritch light and struck her own blade, breaking it!

“Wh-“

The abomination didn’t stop! The edge swung back across her abdomen and blood spewed forth violently.

Was this how it was to end.

She clutched her wound and fell to her side

The last thing she saw here was the moon shining down at her…

Blood…there was blood everywhere

But it was done…she had survived…

Before her the abomination lied dead. Hitomi couldn’t believe she had managed to fend for herself against the monsters here!

She wasn’t sure what had happened but the ones she had seen turned out to be these hideous monstrosities. More traps she thought…

“RrrrRrRRRRRrr”

The world before her seemed to ripple…like the surface of water after someone chucked a rock into it.

Her head hurt…and she fell to her knees…

As she opened her eyes she saw a pool of blood around her…and the corpse of her old ally Daenerys lying before her

Meanwhile a group of people would be within a certain area near a particularly large building of some sort…and they would catch the attention of something.

Vaan would end up heading toward an larger open space with an extravagant looking fountain resting at the middle. Vaan was a bit injured but he had managed to defeat that mutated looking beast. Still…he couldn’t help but wonder just what caused it to end up like that.

As he pondered over this he spotted a long haired woman resting by the fountain

She hadn’t seemed to notice him yet…but she looked normal.

Vaan waved and hailed her

. . .

Nearby, a shaken Hitomi stumbles out of an alley near this area and spots someone who looked like Daenerys resting by a fountain. Some shadowy figure was also approaching from nearby so she called out to her as well…

Daenerys snaps to attention to see the ones calling her…

“RRrrRrrrRRrR”

And all went white…

Elsewhere, Chi-Chi her own trek and unbeknownst to her, Reaver is tailing her! Who could say why…but she hadn’t seemed to notice him.

She takes notice of a large building on the horizon for a moment when someone approaches from somewhere nearby

Another voice she seemed to recognize let out a small grunt of annoyance, but before she could really register who it was…

“RRRrrrRrRRrR”

And all went white…

Chi-Chi’s eyes adjusted as she recovered from some sort of daze. She thought she had seen…something…but

“SQarrglarkgr”

Chi-Chi’s eyes widened as a malformed creature of flesh stumbled in her direction flailing its arms and pointing a tentacle at her.

Her skin crawled as it approached but she steeled her nerves! She took a combative stance as the creature seemed to hesitate!

She lunged forward and the creature seemed to try to raise a bladed tendril in her direction, but she swept under its leg and caused it to fall! As it gurgled she noticed its bladed tendril wriggle around so she grabbed hold of it and yanked it clean off!

As the creature continued to horrendously gurgle she drove the blade into its convulsing flesh! It soon went limp!

As she wiped her dress of the fresh blood she noticed something else. As she turned she saw a larger mass of flesh beginning to form, firing spikes of blood around!

She manages to dodge an incoming strike and grabs hold of the foe she had just slain! With immense strength she grabbed the abomination and threw it and the growing mound of flesh!

Reaver watched confused as the kung fu woman attacked the man that had been hailing her. This man had been Kris Allen, and for some reason…Chi-Chi flew into a berserk frenzy rise as he tried to inform her of his own presence! What annoyance he had been

…Still…Reaver was quite amused at the woman’s newfound bloodlust! He knew she was interesting one! He had quite the eye for such things of course. Still…he wondered if-

His train of thought was interrupted as two hooded figures lurched out from some nearby shadows! He had taken notice of them quite quickly of course as he fired a bullet right through one of their skulls, but the other had managed to get a hold of him and started to wrestle with him

This wouldn’t be much issue of course! Reaver started to wrestle the fool and would inevitably win. He prepared to finish him when

Words such as these echoed around her as Sophia regained consciousness. As her vision slowly cleared she found herself in a dark room lined with torches and various people in hoods. All of them chanting. All of them chanting…

“What the hell is this?”

Sophia tried to rise to her feet and reach for her weapon…only to find that they were gone. Even if she was armed…there were a lot of these freaks here. Hell, she didn’t even know where “here” was!

However…they didn’t seem to be doing anything yet. Just chanting.

“What the hell do you want!”

They ignored the girl’s questions

“Damn it! What the fuck is all th-“

All at once the space around her seemed to tighten around her and squeeze her in place, interrupting her! Slowly she found herself rising into the air

“Agghgrgh- ah-“

Sophia flailed around as some force lifted her upwards!

“LET ME GO! STOP THIS! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS! WHAT THE HELL IS-“

Then she would see it.

For all her attitude, in reality, she was just a weak willed little girl.

Before her was something more than her.

Something Great.

Something she could never hope to understand.

She shrieked in horror and thrashed around harder like a caught fish

(SOMEONE HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME!)

But nobody was there to help her…nobody would be coming to save her.

“WAIT PLEASE I-“

CRUNCH

As Sophia cried out, she erupted! Blood shot out of her eyes and then she went limp in the Great One’s grip. After a few moments she is sent falling and splatters to the ground with a thud.

The hooded figures crowd around and take the corpse away…

Prince Brandish would also start to run into more of the stranger beings that lurked within the city. As he strode forth confidently (albeit slightly annoyed that his garb was damaged by that foolish ruffian) he would find what appeared to be a beggar with bandages over its head

“Hmm…”

The Prince, not wanting to waste time with it, passes it…only to start to hear a “slushing” sound.

“What a bother…”

The Prince nonchalantly does a 180 and swings his sword in an arc, slicing off the scalp of his stalker! It groans and falls back to the ground

“Ugh ghastly looking beggars into this dump of a city I see”

No sooner had he finished saying that, the thing he had seemingly just struck down let out an otherworldly scream and hopped back to its feet. A long milky looking tentacle sprouted out of its head and thrashed around in the air as the “beggar” wrestled with him

“YOU DARE TOUCH ME!?”

Before the tentacle could lunge at him, Brandish swung the beggar to the ground with his own superior strength! As soon as it crashed into the cobblestone, Brandish drove his saber into the thrashing tentacle, pinning it and the beggar to the ground!

As the thing flailed around, Brandish stomped his boot on to the tentacle to keep it in place and took out the saber before quickly driving it back into the beggar’s head repeatedly! Before long the freak of nature was silenced

Brandish is slightly annoyed that he had to dirty his boots which were now stained with a white looking substance, but shrugs it off. He continues on his way!

With a sickening chomp she jams the bloody stump into her mouth and begins sucking on the juices that flow freely from it…Algus stares at this spectacle for a moment…

“Tch…”

As the monster is distracted he leaps up and delivers a skull splitting strike at the hideous fiend, driving his sword through her skull as well as into the forearm she was sucking on! With a jerk he rips the sword out through the front, tearing her face apart in the process!

“Sickening creatures!”

Algus nurses his side hoping that there would be no ill side effects and continues on his way.

Weevil Underwood, having survives that horrible event, looks over his gradually dwindling deck while skulking around avoiding trouble.

“Grggh…I am running low on cards…this is no good. I wonder if theres-“

Patter…patter

“Eeep!”

Weevil ducks around a corner as a small mob of hooded figures wielding strange wooden crosses walk by chanting some strange language. Thankfully they don’t notice him

“Grgh I gotta find a way outta here soon! I can’t take this!”

Weevil skitters away, not even bothering to investigate what that mob was up to! Probably something just as screwed up as everything else he had seen so far!

The World’s Angriest Boy ends up in what looks like a small garden. As he passes by he notices a weird “bulb” sticking out amongst the flowers

“. . .”

The boy merely glances over at it as it starts to wiggle around…

Then it pops up, revealing a bluish looking….alien…of some sort.

The Boy just stares at it with his unchanging expression!

It waddles up to him and hops around while holding out some flowers. Strange glowing tendrils seem to sprout out its little cap. Maybe it was trying to communicate or-

SLASH

With an eerie gurgle, the little aliens head is cut clean off his shoulders and falls to the ground. Apparently, the World’s Angriest Boy was not in the mood for its shenanigans and simply killed it! So much for that potential friendship!

Sophia Hess continues to navigate the inner areas of the strange city managing just fine on her own!

As she makes her way deeper and deeper into the more dangerous areas, she spots a lanky looking man in a cloak. He appeared to be holding a bag.

Her presence seems to cause him to wake up from his stupor. He blankly looks at her and hefts the bag up…great…another enemy?

Sophia scoffed and took out her crossbow, firing a bolt right into the man. He would fall just like the others who had gotten in her way so f-

WOOSH!

Sophia is taken off guard as she finds that he wasn’t taken down…rather, he was leaping right at her seemingly unaffected by the bolt sticking out of his shoulder

“What the-“

The world would suddenly become blurry to her. Air shot out of her lungs and pain filled her gut as the main punched her with strength far beyond what his appearance would convey.

“N-…n..o”

Sophia slumps forward to her knees! Before she could really process what was going to happen next, she is smacked across the temple with something blunt…then hits the ground.

Chapter 7: Grant Us Eyes

With the giant “Guard Dog” having been slain by Negan and Vibe, the rest of the tributes inevitably find their way through the large gate and deeper in the city. Despite how much time has passed, there appears to be no sign of the approaching Dawn as the Moon continues to hang over their heads!

Some time after making it past the proverbial “mini boss” Negan and Vibe come upon a crossroads and decide to split up to search for the exit. Vibe isn’t too keen on this idea, but Negan is confident in his own abilities and good ol Lucille to fend off whatever monsters may lie in wait here!

As Vaan and Judy make their way here, using a combination of traversing the rooftops and back alleys to avoid the roaming mad men in the streets, they would be faced with a peculiar looking werewolf similar to one that had been chasing Judy earlier…only this one seems to have…tentacles…sprouting from various points in its body! It prepares to attack the duo, eyeing Judy in particular!

Judy is shaken to her core…but Vaan steps in the way!

“Go on get moving! I can take this ugly mutt!”

Judy’s eyes dart between Vaan and the monster

“Are you s-“

The beast snarls and lets out a screech

“GO! NOW! I GOT THIS!”

Vaan takes out his blade and aims it at the incoming foe as Judy reluctantly flees. All she could do was hope that the hero who had saved her life would triumph!

Katara navigates through the back alleys but stops in her tracks when she hears a commotion going on nearby! She cautiously approaches, prepared to attack if it came to a fight

She slowly rounded the corner….

MMEEEEOOEOWWWW

A cat latches itself onto her face

“WHAT TH-M MmMmmmm!!!”

The cat continues to claw at her face as she wrestles with it

“GEEEYAAHAOOY!!!”

Some random lady bursts out from around the corner and yanks the cat off Katara’s face, resulting in Katara falling to the ground! The Crazy Cat Lady hisses at Katara before running away waving the feline over her head!

Katara is left alone utterly confused

“…What the heck was that all about?”

Algus heads down the dark streets when he finds a strange being huddled over something up ahead!

It turns to look at him revealing a deformed woman with elongated arms and a bloated belly. It appears she was draining blood out of one of the corpses of one of the city’s citizens.

“Disgusting.”

Algus reaches for his sword. Even if it hadn’t taken notice of him this thing was clearly too disgusting to let live!

FWOOM!

Algus’ eyes widen as the tick woman pounces on to a nearby wall and leaps off with surprising speed right in front of him! He raises his sword in response only to completely miss as she dives to his side right on his flank!

“Shit!”

With her superior reach she swipes at him with her hideous claw, grazing his side and drawing blood! This pulls her into a frenzy as she presses her attack trying to draw out more blood from her prey!

“Grgh!”

As the monster woman swipes at him again, Algus swings his blade in a long arc, catching her at the forearm and lopping it completely off! She shrieks and skitters backward, holding her bleeding stump…

…At first in agony…and then

Original Nier wasn't very good. It had some good elements, but the meh combat held it back enough to prevent it from being really great. Even the experimental gameplay sections weren't refined to the extent that Automata's alternate gameplay sections were. And there were still some visual novel-y sections, like A2 and Anemone's backstory.

Nier's sidequests were terrible. Most of them were bad fetch quests. The occasional one had some cool story twists, but I feel like side quests and combat are the two areas where Automata really distances itself from the first game.

I just found more of em more interesting compared to Automata's (to be fair Automata had its own fair share of escort and fetch side quests). Automata had some neat ones too but I think what helps is Nier and Weiss playing off each other during them better than 2B and 9S. At least to me

Some to name off the top of my head

Lighthouse and the Letter Quests

Fishing Quest that gets you hooked on it (with Nier and Weiss kinda reflecting the player's attitude to the fishing in general)

The Dog that was looking for the medicine

Why wouldn't that fight be canon?

The Emil we interact with in Automata is just one of the clones. We already know that at least one other Emil is around well after the events of Automata based on one of the weapon stories so it's not as though it would mean he's written out of future games.

Ending Y probably isn't canon but would be hilarious if somehow it was. >_>

I just figured that once you win the game just sort of "ends" on the spot and brings you back to the start screen. I guess it could be canon but that was the impression I got

Wasn't there some new Automata play thing that kind of goes into stuff that happened after the ending?

One area in which the first Nier had more engaging gameplay: it was weirder. there's no extended visual novel portion in Automata!

I will agree that the games excel in different areas. Nier and Automata stand on their own

VN Forest was the best

Also Nier 1 had an awesome fishing side quest which Automata sorely lacked (unless I somehow completely missed it)

Yeah shame they couldn't have made it a more unique fight but damn it the whole bit with Emil's Kaine Speech and the music slowly shifting to Emil Sacrifice was great

90% chance it wasn't canon though given how it ends but it was still an awesome moment

also probably one of the best tracks in the game

Both are good, but Nier 1 just has a certain magic about it to me

Heck one of the biggest feels moments for me in Automata was a direct callback to Nier with Emil's secret area(s) and the secret boss in the desert

Also interesting about the Angels attitude regarding Jessie (fine with humans and in her case didn't outright blow her up for being an outsider...tough luck for non humans though)!

Hard to say. Probably something like Mewtwo / Mew or Missingno in Pokemon

That or the Misadventures of Halo 2 collectively (stuff like the Scarab Gun journey, all the various glitches and weird shit like jumping out of certain maps to explore out there or making a giant corpse in the sky etc. Fun times)
