First promising news I have heard on this front in a long time.

You're excited that the government will make sure every average Joe will be kept down, and prevented from getting too much benefit.

Personally, I'd like to see billion dollar companies stop looting from the government. How about we cap business benefits at what they paid in 2019 taxes?

A lot of bosses are jokes if you get to them later than normal. Cleric Beast is hilarious to watch in All Bosses Speedruns because each attack takes off huge chunks of health.

Amgdala in the chalice dungeons is a lot more difficult simply because there's less space available to play with.

I knew that Molly's scaled with arcane, but that Gascoigne fight was the easiest thing I've ever done. I missed two of my throws and still only needed to do a few swipes at the end to get the kill. I'm blown away right now.

I've never done a fully arcane build before, that might be interesting? What do you go for in the early game before you have the Tony?

I've also never used a nonstandard version of a weapon either, so the gem optimization discussion is a little over my head.

I feel like the cheese strategy I used was to get him stuck on one of the walls around the lamp, and using the whip's extended range, maybe? I don't remember exactly. But yes, if you try fighting him as early as you possibly can, you're in for a world of hurt. He can probably one shot you at that point, he'd still be difficult even if you fought him at level 50 with some gems and upgrades.

I know I'm in the minority with not hating the dungeons, but imo they're worth going through once just for the unique bosses.

They're also really useful for baddies, which honestly I still am, because you get a lot more consumables, upgrade mats, and echoes.

And iirc you don't really need to invest too much time into them to get the claws? Could be wrong on that though.

Simon is a tough fight early on, but can have his ai very easily cheesed. Just like all npc hunters, basically.

I was using the reiterpallasch on my last run, but I think i put the game down at some point without finishing it... I should go back to that!

I honestly didn't parry much in my first play through the game. It made things much harder than they needed to be, but I bring it up to say that if you have patience and can learn attack patterns, you'll defeat anything eventually!

I've been grappling with that, jakyl. In a world of abolition and intense prison reform, we shouldn't be so quick to throw someone behind bars and call it a job well done.

But the kinds of people who fraudulently stole millions of dollars from public funds should be punished in a way such that they can never return to a normal life. I don't think that means they should be locked up at even more taxpayer expense, but I don't want them to ever feel comfortable or content again.

The thing that pushes the church pick into top tier for me is that it's always got the serrated AND righteous bonuses and thrust type attacks, regardless of which form it's in, and the 2h mode has very reasonable range! The thrust matters because you can easily get blood gems that increase your thrust attack a lot, so getting "good" gems is much easier than for other weapons.

The raw stats might not compare favorably, but those bonuses do a lot of work.

... plus its moveset just felt right to me

One more note - even if you do suicide runs and unlock lamps & shortcuts, I suggest you still do the first part of the dlc "normally" at some point

Tldr - don't concern yourself too much with optimal play, feel free to do suicide runs after Amelia (though I'm unsure if you'll like the arm, given your dislike of the kirkhammer), and if you have any questions we're here to help.

If you can stomach the chalices, that's where you'll generally find the best blood gems. You can also get over leveled very easily from them if you gave any blood echoes runes on. All the more reason for you to not sweat doing something "wrong".

Lastly, if you get back to the dream and don't have enough echoes to level up, buying vials is never a bad idea.
