Not explicitly "we hate them" or anything but sometime within the PS4 era they've done some weird problematic things like claim they need to move away from the Japanese market to a more global one and require Japanese devs to speak with them in English.
Not sure if Jim Ryan was responsible for that or that his removal will really change course though. If anything, I recall it was one of the Japanese suits that's responsible.

Seriously, Xcom is fairly successful despite its HUGE difficulty that makes it less accessible for casual gamers. I'm sure an Xcom with more options for casual gamers like Fire Emblem (and no not just the "dating sim" mechanics although honestly that wouldn't hurt) could do just fine.

I've literally only seen this rhetoric with a certain subsection of gamers and it's weird that it became a thing. It's understood that a comedy channel with all its swear words that were originally blipped out is considered the "uncensored" version even though that's not a legally mandated thing, just a network thing. Things like LGBT and religious references being removed back in the day, violence being toned down, or making someone's skin color lighter outside of government regulations are all understood to be censorship.

Oh yeah, definitely. If youre going to sexualize your characters showing equality about it will (mostly) stop assumptions that its just meant to cater and objectify to one crowd. Giving them SOs of their own that theyre visibly close with to show theyre an actual character would blow away the unicorns and help matters a lot too.

I think it's only a thing with the terminally online, for both camps. But there is a problem with conservatives becoming more extreme and they're the ones actually pushing for reactionary laws with some of them savvy enough to use left wing arguments out of context to justify it.

It's like the best simplest actiony video gamey plot. Someone mentioned Resident Evil and MGR's short and sweet plotline with some commentary on world events is way better than all of those. It's better than his own mentioned games.

I feel like the people who only see that side are just looking at the wrong demographics since there is also a section of media that has been much more open with sex and explicit imagery that weren't nearly as accepted in the past too. Who is threatening them to not be greenlit? To me this feels like these Japanese studios are simply choosing the wrong localizers/publishers who are out of touch/stuck inside their own bubbles.

The team really needs to quickly realize the spirit of the law rather than the letter of the law before it gets out of hand. Although ironically it seems the main point of Fandom doing this was to have it more letter of the law.
