Hannibal is fantastic, I watched the first 2 seasons recently. It's creepy as hell, and the weird imagery is great. I really need to watch the rest.

But I saw that Avatar The Last Airbender is on Netflix, and that they're adding Legend of Korra soon, so I'm rewatching Avatar.

I'm only on episode 4 of season 1 but so far I'm really enjoying it. Couldn't find anything for a while after attack on titan so I'm glad i finally did

I am just trying to understand your definition of violence, because I don't right now, and things I don't understand interest me. I don't have an ulterior motive here. I agree that it is a serious crime. In my mind, it would be considered violence because there's an implicit threat of harm that will be worse the less they comply with my orders.

I do not think all violence is bad or all involuntary detainment is bad, just that involuntary detainment obtained by the threat of even greater bodily harm if they resist is a form of violence.

What I'm curious about here is your definition of violence. Do you perceive impersonating a cop to steal someone's vehicle as a serious non-violent crime or a serious violent crime?

Technically, that would be a non violent crime i think as long as a gun wasn't drawn since you couldn't charge them with assault or anything along those lines if the person willingly relinquished their car without a threat being made. Thats actually an interesting scenario because I'm not sure what charges the perpetrator would face in that instance

It's because some of these protesters have ties to extremist groups. And because of that coupled with them actually trying to break in and set fire to federal buildings, they're now being treated as possible terrorists

let's say I dress up as a cop including the service weapon, cop costume, and sirens on my car. i pull someone over, put them in cuffs, and then steal their car and drive off. is that violent?

Because a routine arrest isn't supposed to result in a firearm being used. Citizens understand that if you break the law, you are placed under arrest and if you comply that nothing should happen. If a stranger approaches you and reveals they have a weapon and tells you to get in their van it's definitely an implied threat that harm will come to you whether you comply or not

Another logical fallacy here. There is nothing at all similar about a cop placing you under arrest for committing a crime and a random redneck brandishing a weapon and telling you to get in their van. There is no innate threat of harm if you don't resist arrest

Everything about these arrests suggests that the government wants to avoid being connected with them, which is extremely sketchy and begs the question of what they're trying to hide.

Or it could be that the police are overwhelmed also and many have quit recently due to the working conditions. Probably shouldn't be using unmarked vans but I'm not surprised if other agencies or military have been called into help out
