If you lose all that because of taking one day off, or even a week, or even a month, then you're a slave to your job. Maternity pay should also be standard.
This isn't losing some easily replaceable McDonald's job. This is losing a career that cannot simply be easily replaced if the information in the hypothetical(?) is as presented. There are many "should be's" in the world, but that won't always reflect reality.

Work is a means to an end, the birth of your child is a reason you're working. If your job is "too important" to give you a day to see the birth of your child then job ain't worth shit. The priorities in this country are all wrong, people totally brainwashed into thinking the job is king, serving your boss is more important than serving yourself and your family. Shit is whack.
I guess if you ignore mortgage/rent payments, car payments, utility payments, the large amount of money dedicated to setting up the house for a child, medical bills, the wife's income being zero until she can return to work (if she is), etc.

Nah, its the anime industry being unable to accept that the weekly anime rush is unsustainable. If they just took like a three month break per year they could have higher quality episodes and no filler, but of course that would drop sales. So they would rather just stick with mediocre.

Corporate decisions for the sake of social brownie points with zero regard to the actual social movement is definitely pandering. Now, pandering doesn't inherently need to mean the results will be negative, but it's pandering nonetheless. Whether it's positive or negative depends entirely on the wider reception, whether it's a thoughtful implementation or mindless/lazy hackery to fill some checkboxes so the board members can pat themselves on the back.

For a very particular niche, seems like it might do great, but I don't think it'll see much wide appeal. The Switch is popular because it's Nintendo rather than just being a portable gaming machine. If portability was all people desired, the PSP wouldn't be the only handheld ever to take an actual bite into Nintendo's market.

With the exclusion of some very particular circumstances, nobody needs millions in restitution from a job, but the corporations do need to feel some kind of burn.

It was pretty good. Some of the annoying modern money-saving animation techniques kind of kill the mood here and there more so than other western series. The Amber plots conclusion was nonsensical in how it was portrayed up until that moment. There are several ways to have written it with the dismissal of his revelation feeling actually fair. Having looked at some summaries of what happens later in the comic, curious to see how much they adapt in later seasons because it seems to get really goofy later in the franchise.

Generally, people buy expensive ass PCs to play these games at maximum quality, so the overlap between PC gamers and people who are willing to play lower quality versions on a small screen seems pretty low. If you're really into mobile gaming, you probably would already have a laptop for that. I see portable PCs selling, but only in a niche market.
