Bring on the handhelds. Console gaming honestly sucks now. If you can manage to even find one that scalpers didnt horde, theyre WAY too expensive and there arent any good games. The PS4s library was honestly garbage. All they care about is streamers, graphics, streamers, money, and streamers. Console gaming is no longer for people like us.

People are just trolling. I used to blindly hate Xbox too. Then I picked up a Series S with Game Pass and had a ton of fun with it. Got rid of it because the storage capacity but the actual system was great. Game Pass is great.

Phone isnt as big and nobody likes using touchscreen controls. Having to attach your own controller defeats the purpose IMO. You get a handheld for convenience. One system, no controller needed, turn on and play. That is the value. The docking and all that is just icing on the cake.

Im glad this market is opening up. The phone/tablet thing was never gonna work for me. This is right up my alley.

Seems still a couple years away before theyre at the storage capacity and access Id like though. These things are gonna be tough to get for a while.

Generally, people buy expensive ass PCs to play these games at maximum quality, so the overlap between PC gamers and people who are willing to play lower quality versions on a small screen seems pretty low. If you're really into mobile gaming, you probably would already have a laptop for that. I see portable PCs selling, but only in a niche market.

Sony doesnt have cheap access to games like Microsoft does or Valve with Steam. I also doubt theyd allow consumers to emulate considering they rarely even allow cross plat.

Thats a huge deal. I couldnt justify $70 per game to play on a handheld.

Its a steal. Its just homerism. No other system is offering access to a similar library for $10 a month or whatever it is.

Game Pass is the future. Games like Call of Duty and sports titles make no sense to do yearly installments. Make it a subscription model and just constantly update the base game. Theyd devote way less resources that way and keep a consistent player base. People would look forward to that update like Christmas.

I think thats the best compromise. People complain about micro transactions but if it cost way less to access the game why not? As long as it isnt pay to win.

Literally every Halo is in GamePass and Halo Infinite is releasing on Game Pass. As well as Starfield. Also third party games release on there as well like Back 4 Blood or Hades.

Honestly, anyone could kill the mobile market atm.

The Vita had ALL it needed to do so. Sony was just a bunch of idiots. Had a few good games, no advertising, and then gave up. Couldn't even release the fucking PS1 library on it, despite the games(mostly) running fine.

3DS showed Mobile consoles are lucrative. And while the Switch is mobile, it is far too big to really make a difference in the market. It fills 2 holes, but like...halfway.

Regardless, the potential is there.

Its not meant to compete with an expensive ass PC. The value here is that you get portable hardware all-in one package and can build a decent library for like $600. You dont need a new TV, dont need a monitor, dont need a controller but if so you probably have one. You just the need the device.

This is great for people who dont want to bother with or pay for building a PC.
