Good, fuck these limp-dicked pussies. "urr look at me in my bike helmet, white power!" - I hope their offspring finds love with other races and condemn their "pure" bloodline to death. Given that they live to old age, I hope their last thought is that they're the last pure bastions of whiteness dying out in the sort of world they actively fought to prevent, losing total hope in humanity. I dislike them both for vastly different reasons. Man of Steel is a lot more competently made, but it's such a turd of a Superman movie. It set Superman on a shitty path, and the two following movies only serve to further fuck the character in the ass.

But Christ, Superman Returns was a garbage movie on a whole other level. It ran for too long, the suit looked cheap and Kevin Spacey was a garbage Lex.

I'm not preferencing either of them. They're both really overblown, long-winded effect movies that wasted my time and/or butt-blasted the character beyond the limits of my personal tastes.

MrMallard

Before unlocking your phone, you'll be required to prick your finger on one of those diabetic blood tester filters. Each filter lasts about four hours, at which point you'll have to prick your finger again for another four hours of phone access. This will be billed as the ultimate anti-theft device, and the phone will be able to store certain genetic traits that are present in your blood for up to 5 years at a time. If you don't check a box off in the Privacy menu - which requires a separate finger prick every time you want to access it or change a privacy option - the phone's manufacturer can sell this information to third parties in order to sell advertisements to you.

As the trend becomes more and more commonplace, the blood scanners will begin selling your recent blood samples to advertisers, leading to low blood sugar people getting advertisements for sugary substances and people with high cholesterol readings getting ads for WeightWatchers. It'll be billed as a healthcare revolution, but the FBI will subpoena all major smartphone manufacturers and obtain their collective blood sample information to be accessed any time there's a crime.

Apple will market their blood scanner alongside a personal health app, and use the term "An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away". Despite this being a colloquial phrase for decades, they will successfully trademark the saying and collect royalties for any media property that uses the term going forward.

It took me a couple of weeks to get into Life is Strange. I'm used to playing Telltale-style games with a friend, and LiS is a bit more involved than that - I pretty much had to force myself to play the game, and I would take long breaks between play sessions because of it. But it sunk its claws into me by the end.

I was gonna say earlier, I won't stick around and talk about the game because I'm too tempted to talk spoilers. But some dipshit already went out of his way to ruin it for TC, so that's out the window.

I really have to ask - why is Trump pardoning this filth? What's his endgame here? Is it some ploy to show that he "loves the troops"? Because this guy was such a piece of shit that other troops in his unit ratted him out over his actions.

Even other soldiers see him as a piss-poor representation of the military, but King Shithead is pardoning him before standing trial for war crimes and calling him a 'hero'. Why?

I mean if Tali's straight in canon, then she's straight. No skin off my back.

It's been like 6 years since the main trilogy wrapped up, and nearly 2 years since Andromeda tanked the series' future?

I finished Mass Effect 1 again, and now the ME bug has bitten me again. Current Shepard is kinda edgy thanks to Virmire but she has a heart of gold, and she's got an unreciprocated crush on Tali that she won't get over until the third game, where she'll get with that cute British chick.

Hopefully there are some good FemShep/Tali stories.

It's gonna be cheesy and pretentious at times, but I personally loved my time with the game. I hope you stick with it.

If there's gonna be any drop-off point for you, it'll probably be the end of Episode 2. But if you end up liking what the game's going for, you will be rewarded.

- It came out two days after the original Final Fantasy, and it looks/functions better than it does. It's almost an entire generation removed from that original Final Fantasy title.

- It's a gorgeous game for its time. The spritework holds up to this day - the cutscenes are a bit dated, but the visuals are fantastic for 1987.

- This game has cutscenes, period. And while they are a bit dated as previously mentioned, they're pretty good as well.

- The 3D dungeons look fantastic. Phantasy Star's first-person dungeon crawling is incredibly immersive, though a bit tough to navigate.

- The grinding is pretty manageable! If you like a good RPG grind, i.e. Final Fantasy 5, this game has a satisfying grind loop.

- Alis is a cool character. She's not an entirely blank slate, she's arguably the strongest character in the game and her motivation is moreso revenge with any greater-good stuff sprinkled in after the fact.

- It's one of the earliest sci-fi RPGs, and it does a good job mixing cheesy sci-fi and cheesy swords-and-sorcery into one setting. It might just be the first sci-fi RPG that gets it right.

As far as old school RPGs go, Phantasy Star holds up. It's a very cohesive RPG for its time, it's mechanically and visually sound, and it beats the shit out of its contemporaries that released around the same time. I think it deserves more love.

They broke no law. The supreme court agreed. Stop pretending otherwise.

The only law that potentially could've been broken is forcing the baker to make a decoration he didn't want to make. That would be a violation of free speech.

The baker is not denying service by refusing to make a specific decoration. He was willing to sell them a cake of reasonable approximation. Arguments like "well if he makes cakes with brides and grooms, he can't refuse cakes with two grooms" show a gross lack of basic understanding of free speech.

Just like Costco will sell you a smiley face cake but not a hentai cake.

This is not complicated, and your feelings about bigotry do not change this. You can't force someone to make any decoration you want.

This entire post is shitty, but it's this attitude that stands out as being the most revolting.

You've just compared gay people to smut to justify your belief in "free speech". How is a cake depicting two men or two women in a romantic context at all analogous to sexual nudity in a public place, or public depictions of sexual intercourse? Why put same-sex love
- a chaste cake-topper of two men or two women, or two masculine/feminine names on a wedding cake - on the same pedestal as pornography? It's not perverse if you depict a man and a woman, what makes it so NSFW if it's a same-sex couple?

This attitude has been a pervasive argument against homosexuality for decades, if not longer. Can't have gay teachers, because they're all secretly pedophiles who prey on children - because they're sexual deviants! The AIDS epidemic is primarily affecting the gay community because of their promiscuity, and we should do as little as possible to help them. Wait, straight people can get it too? You can get it through blood transfusions? Fund that cure, baby!

Comparing gay people to pornography, and boiling their existence down to having sex? It's got roots in Western homophobia that harken back to the days where gay people were sought out, bashed and murdered for their sexuality on a wide scale. When that shit was socially acceptable. Even if this post isn't dog-whistling, and you didn't intend it, that's the legacy of this discourse. That's its historical significance. So your post can go and fuck right off.

TopicJust applied for a financial planning job, and I kept thinking about Yakuza 4
MrMallard
05/23/19 9:48:48 PM
#1
There was a job that suited my Business Admin credentials at a financial planning place, and despite not being very familiar with cover letters, I decided to write one with the help of some job search folks. I got them both to read it and sign off on it to make sure it was good, I wasn't sending out a half-baked cover letter.

It was your standard cover letter - I have experience in this field, I believe that my skills would benefit your business in that way, touching on the most important points of their job listing. But near the end of the letter, I realised that it needed a human element. It needed something that told the assessor that I understood and cared about the position.

So my dumb ass flashed back to Yakuza 4, which I recently completed for the second time. Specifically, Akiyama.

Dude was relatively well adjusted, then he got sacked for some bullshit and became homeless. When the Millennium Tower blew up in the first game, he scrambled up about $10,000 and managed to invest it, eventually becoming very rich. But by the end of Yakuza 4, he's sick of money. It doesn't matter to him.

Of course, a wad of money saves Akiyama from a fatal gunshot wound at the end of the game. And it's there that he waxes poetic about how much it means to people and how his fate is tied to it. And it's that ending that stuck with me as I wrote the last paragraph of my cover letter.

The point I went with was this - as much as the administration side of the job appealed to me, I also found the customer service aspect of the job very appealing. Whether it's someone who needs a hand to curb their reckless spending, or someone who's paying off a life milestone like a car or a house - money is a unique force in people's lives, and how it affects people's lives depends on the opportunities that a person has and the attitude towards money that they have. Being able to help people realise their dreams in a role like financial planning sounds like a very rewarding career path.

And sure it's corny as shit, but without some degree of passion for money, I don't think finance would be a career path worth investing in. So I thought I would appeal to the human condition and show that to some degree, I have a desire or passion for this line of work. It doesn't help that my Business Administration credentials are also something that they're looking for.

Probably. Obama gave off an essence of weakness

Nah. George Bush was perceived as a blithering moron over here, and his plan of action that consisted of hunting nonexistent nukes drew my nation into the destabilisation of Iraq. We're still over there thanks to Bush's WMD hunt.

And none of us took Trump seriously, because we perceived him as slow. Not the same kind of stupid as George Bush - monotone, one-note, lacking in substance and unable to compose a single calm, thought-out sentence. All the things that people know him for are repeating his bullshit pie-in-the-sky Wall rhetoric, complimenting himself and attacking anyone who criticises him. He's the king of deflection, because it's always someone else's fault and he's always in the right - his primary skill is agitating the public. Trump has always lacked integrity in the public eye, at least in my neck of the woods. His intended pardoning of a war criminal only further serves to illustrate this.

Barack Obama was a lot more well-spoken than both, from the first day of his campaign. From day one to the end of his presidency, he made an effort to be civil, respectable and well-presented, and even with his downsides, he represented the best of America with his presidential attributes. In hindsight, there are a lot of shitty things that happened overseas and in America during his presidency. But he was almost always a reasonable voice in global politics, and he gave America an air of dignity on the global stage.

Trump gives America an air of weakness, having such a feeble-minded agitator at the helm of the world's greatest superpower and holding the government funding of said superpower hostage untill he gets billions of dollars for a poorly thought-out wall. George Bush was a laughingstock, but I can't say I don't respect the guy for keeping shit together during 9/11. Regardless, there are global repercussions of his leadership that have persisted to this day, and a lot of it is tied to how he went into Iraq in search of non-existent Weapons of Mass Destruction. Barack was a voice of reason and a strong image of America's strengths, at least where I come from.

Why are they 'legendary?'

Pokecapn's Sonic 06 Let's Play dates back to 2008, and his group of friends played through the entire game in a single 48 hour sitting. Sonic 06, with its lack of autosave, extremely broken Mach Speed sections and unintuitive insta-death bullshit, in 48 hours - five or so friends losing their minds on camera as they brute-force their way though one of the worst regarded modern video games. It's a real journey, especially when someone forgets to save before beginning a new level - because if they die, they'll have to replay something like an hour of shitty, bugged gameplay. They get super sleep deprived, and they get crushed by this game, and it makes it so much better when they pull through at the end.

This LP got big before Let's Play content was a big trend on Youtube. They cut it into 15 - 30 minute episodes, and uploaded it piece-by-piece onto Something Awful. To my understanding, it was one of the highest regarded Let's Play series for years, one of the pillars of the "genre". It's a cult classic now, if nothing else. Overall, it's a very entertaining relic from the advent of Let's Play content, and an absolute classic.

Vinesauce's Tomodachi Life streams are an entirely different beast. With the random behaviors exhibited by the RNG residents, and the scores of original and tribute characters that interact within the game, Vinny's playthrough was able to build up a disjointed canon for his islanders with a remarkable amount of consistency. While Vinny pushed it too far with the Jahn characters, there were still some remarkable recurring trends, such as Sponge - a depressing Super Mario clone character whose main character trait was to shoulder everyone's sadness and negative emotions - being best friends with a Mii approximation of David Bowie. From that, Vinny extrapolated that David Bowie used Sponge's sadness as inspiration to write his songs. Cute little character details like that, as well as the random goings-on of the islanders, made his Tomodachi Life game feel like a virtual soap opera, with heartbreak, intrigue, humor and a whole lot of personality.

With Vinny presiding over the game and offering his own narration and thoughts, a lot of his own personal biases and wants for his player avatar led to amusing drama. From the first episode, he wanted his Mii to seduce a female player character named Two Faced - and throughout his entire run, he never got his Mii together with her. Unrequited confessions of love, a love tester that scored them at like 13% compatibility, and eventually she married a fucking walrus - it was fantastic. Vinny's streams were like a variety show - they were really something special. He forced himself to 50 streams of Tomodachi Life, and then he revisited the game for charity on at least 7 different occasions.

It changed how he streamed - a Youtube user named Vappyvap76 was recording his streams and uploading them to Youtube, and partway through his Tomodachi Life stream, he established a new Youtube channel named Vinesauce: The Full Sauce - made specifically for full streams - that he would run alongside Vappyvap. The Tomodachi Life streams essentially gave this Vappyvap guy a job with Vinesauce. It was a historic point on Vinny's streaming career.

I recommend the Jet Li movie/biopic Fearless. It's some really tight Wuxia action.

Just shot up a dose of heroin, how're y'all feeling tonight?

disclaimer: I have never touched heroin before in my life and have no plans to, and am actually incredibly frightened of needles. If there are any folks who are struggling with an addiction, I urge them to seek help and support for their habit. The above is not to belittle or demean those who struggle with addiction.

I went through the first time portal in the game, saved and shut my PS3 off about a week ago. Just went back into the game to play it again, and my save file is bugged - it won't initialise.

Someone on here warned me about this. I do have a back-up file from before I used the portal, but this is still a huge pain in the ass and I don't want to keep playing the game if it's going to fuck me in the ass like this.

If you've got any info on how the glitch works, what tends to set it off etc. - like if there's a safe method to using time portals, or a guaranteed flag that'll brick my game - I would love to hear about it. I just want to play some Warrior Within while Yakuza 5 downloads.

I mean if OP likes those games, that's their prerogative.

The responder can be a salty fuckass all they want, but it doesn't change the games that the OP likes. Like the OP has shit taste for sure, but he had the balls to put his love for these video games out into the ether. Ragging on some rando's shitty list in a response video is dumb.

Best class is Soldier, though more power to you if you like the more tactical Biotic playstyle. Best waifu to have on your team is Tali. If you're planning to get some achievements, try to have a consistent party for the whole game - you get a trophy/achievement for completing 75% of the game's missions with the same character/s, and there's an achievement like that for all six party members.

Liara is kinda naive and a little ditzy even? But she's really smart and level-headed. Ashley is like a space Christian, and kind of a bigot, but she gets better. Tali is kinda snarky, very tech-savvy, and her race are some of the more interesting aspects of the ME lore.

Kaiden is kind of boring, but his heart is in the right place. Garrus is very witty and dry, and he always has a good story to tell. Wrex is a big, bad motherfucker, and he has really good shields and decent shotgun damage.

Dr. Mario is a classic of the puzzle genre, and it's remained as mechanically solid as it's always been without the myriad of quality-of-life improvements that Tetris has had.
