It is a solid game but it doesn't really do anything spectacular other than graphics and sound effects. Another thing that I don't like about the direction of the series is how apologetic and vanilla they have slowly made Ratchet. He has become almost unrecognizable from the asshole to Clank in the first game to the edgy, sarcastic hero in GC and UYA.That was on purpose lol, they hated how much of an asshole he was in the first game so they recast and went in a new direction. Rift Apart was a huge home run for Insomniac that already launched the system with another with Miles Morales. The game is a quintessential Ratchet and Clank experience of reach new planet explore different paths for different kind of upgrades and get a new gun each stage. A formula yes but one that works well. The big addition here is the second character Rivet and she's a blast of fresh air for the duo. The big mobility addition here comes with the way of jet boots and the ability to kinda ghost dash. You get both upgrades early and it really speeds up the feel of the game. If I had to knock it for anything itd be that the rifts aren't used to the full potential of crazy they could be. In the history of next generation systems the first available of a genre or type of game usually benefits tenfold in popularity than it normally would. The original Saints Row is a bad GTA3 clone but because it was the first of its kind for a starved audience on x360? It got big. Tales of Arise cross-released at the right time. Otherwise there isn't much to say here if you know Tales games, this is straight up a Tales game with much better graphics than the norm thats put out. The battle systems are circular open ended arenas of fun simple combos and special skill spam. There are anime twists everywhere, and skits are still around. A lot of it is done well, some drags on, and other stuff flat out fails. It is a gorgeous game though and really your experience will be determined on the coop player you do it with. I played this with my trophy rival but he originally started this game with his ex, a relationship killer?! Buried in the countless locales and minigames and quick platforming gimmicks is the love story gone flacid between Cody and May. I say buried because you'll spend far more time talking with your coop partner than listening to the back and forth endless angry squabbling between the married couple seeking divorce. In fact you likely will spend most of the game thinking they probably should be divorced and their child should be taken away. In terms of high point moments, the magic castle is THE moment. The explanation of how they met falls a bit flat but the proposal story is sweet and gives you some great insight on both sides of the proposal which you rarely see in narratives. The ultimate fall flat moment is the last big moment at the end. Without ruining it the game could have super capitalized and instead just takes the cheap development way out. It kills the big moment. The game consists of 3 floors, the first is always the same so you can basically speedrun it when you know how. The second is the big draw of the game and can vary from a garden with man eating plants to a casino or even a ski resort. And the third stage is a trust fall exercise to shut down the evil computer Cain. In concept the game works a lot better than Among Us and voice chat certainly helps over the keyboard but uh yeah the game is still a bit flawed. Personoids, the games 'Sus' Robots can just wreck you endlessly on stage 1 if they want. The robots can only be killed by pushing them into fire or having another person help you kill them or a vote out. As expected nobody really works together so even the most basic of scenarios get seriously messed up. There shouldn't be any charm to the game but somehow it has some. After 2019s very well received Shadowbringers the following two years has really increased the player base of the game as word of mouth spread. Filled with different stages, variations, leveling up that changes how pokemon act....Really the game is awesome. Bowsers Fury is an open world take on Mario where the world expands as you gain more power something I've only seen done by Lego Indiana Jones 2 but this was actually done better. Halo Infinite starts off with a bombastic mission that leads into an open world game that basically becomes Halo Far Cry. There is a lot of negativity around this game. Whether its the poor coding, the chibi graphics after Sword/Shield, the graphics being blurry, or the real lack of life in the graphics there are a lot of complaints. Personally I think its fine, its not as exciting as Sword/Shield but its serviceable. The great underground is the major new thing even though it kinda already existed in the original version, its just expanded.
