I grew up in california, I was certainly taught all this stuff. We had a whole extensive civil rights curriculum in the 7th grade. We went over all this stuff again during american history in the 9th/10th grade, forgot which one.

Obviously the american revolution was glorified. But AP history actually taught the gorey and unpleasant details. They made us read a Peoples History of the United States.

Most people don't take APUSH. Its an absolute unit of a class. The types of people who need to take that class wouldn't be able to hang.

I live in Louisiana. Was gonna make this topic but I'll just piggyback off this:

Its amazing how many white southerners I talk to who defend the confederate flag. They don't fly it but they genuinely believe its a symbol of their "southern culture". Because they know its looked down upon is why they don't actually rep it. The Mississippi state flag had the confederate symbol in it literally up until this past election.

I've had many conversations about the flag with southerners. The conversation always involves some kind of bullshit about how its misinterpreted.

Just opened a vanguard account with $1000, says it will take 2-3 days for the money to transfer from my Wells Fargo account.

How easy is it to buy and sell stock? Asking cuz I know Vanguard is best for mutual funds / IRAs, etc...basically smart investments and not BS like stocks.

I've done some reading on moonshine, I'm interested in making it one day. What you worry about is methanol but tbh most people say its really not any significant amount to cause any harm at all, even if you aren't perfect with your methods. Ethylene glycol is just antifreeze. Its not a byproduct of anything in the ethanol process. It tastes sweet, so alot of kids are at risk of toxicity if they get their hands on a bottle.

depends on the organ I guess. when the heart is failing you'll get chest discomfort/pain, shortness of breath. When the lungs are failing you feel like you're short of breath and can't get enough air. Both can provide a sense of doom..like a legit feeling that you're gonna die.

kidney failure and liver failure basically build up toxins in your blood, you'll just feel like shit overall. Not necessarily pain, you'll just feel sick, like nauseous, maybe vomit, abdominal discomfort, some headache, fatigue, etc. Eventually as the toxins build up, you may get drowsy and/or confused.

You know the argument is hipocritical. Why can't a non terminally I'll 15 year old be allowed to have sex with an adult if a terminally I'll 15 year old can? Isn't the argument that they are being psychologically damaged...because we know what's best for them? But if ur on ur deathbed then all rules are out the window?

Think about it, why does he suddenly have the capacity and maturity to make this decision but a non I'll 15 year old cant?

I think Washington is somewhat accurate but I think he'd have more prominent facial features. He's commonly described as handsome. And while he was only 6'0 he's describe as having a standout physique. Like he commands presence where he go without saying anything. That dude definitely doesn't.

Adam's might be accurate but again alot of these guys were described as good looking by multiple sources back then. I think they mightve made them uglier than they were.

to the above 2 posts....i would give me actual personal number that i give to my family and friends. rather it would be my 2nd personal number that goes directly to me. that way if its on an app, I can maybe set my downtime when I dont want to be bothered to reroute to the usual numbers which is typically an on-call nurse or assistant who fields the calls or an answering machine that says call or go to the ER depending on the healthcare system.

but my immediate use of the burner phone is recruiting agencies and finding jobs

I'm in medical training. In a few months I'll be looking for jobs. If I give my personal cell to some of these recruiters they'll be bugging me non-stop. My cellphone will get passed around and I'll be getting random calls asking me if I'm interested in jobs. I rather just get a second number and not deal with that BS. Also, I'm considering whether I should give my personal number to patients. If I have a burner or second phone number, then I might consider it. I'd answer it during reasonable hours. If I find that it becomes abused I'll get rid of it. But my attending actually did that, he was old school, and he did't get bothered nearly as much as you would think.

I dunno, I didn't have anxiety in any other aspect of my life. Speed and Debate infront of an audience, class presentations, sports, etc. I get adrenaline from that stuff but it helps my performance. But in all of those situations, I'm prepared and trust my preparation. I know what to do.

With girls, I had absolutely no clue.

I remember I was at a speech and debate tournament in the 9th grade. Girl I had a massive crush on all year was with me. These things are high stress, so once we're done everyone wants to relax and kick it. We were done waiting for results and she comes up and sits next to me and rests her head on my shoulders. After a few seconds I just stand up and started talking to another dude about something stupid like sports or something.

I was decent looking back then, in decent shape, had decent social skills, could make a group of people laugh, could get along with anyone.

But when it came to girls, I had 0 game and no clue what I was doing. I had no clue how to approach, what to say, anything like that. I learned through experience in college tbh.

I dont have any investments other than a 403b started 5 years ago through work and a pension plan through my new work. I had no idea about finances I just signed some documents and went with it.

Since then I've done alot more reading about investing. Theres some bias but Bogleheads is a decent book to read, it'll put you on track with a nice conservative reliable strategy that you can depend on for the rest of your life.

Right now I honestly live paycheck to paycheck so I haven't done any sort of investments outside of the above. My salary sees a massive increase in about a year and a half or so, so at that time I'll certainly start investing.

It was kinda odd listening to her and listening to Fauci during the early covid press conferences. She never said anything scientifically incorrect. I'm sure she did great behind the scenes. But the President was actively sabotaging the countries defense against the pandemic. Fauci stayed as neutral as he could. She definitely tried to spin things to make Trump seem like he was doing a better job than he was.

The real scrutiny should go to all these jackass doctors who kept claiming they had the cure or claiming covid was an overblown hoax and claiming that masks are useless. These people should honestly all have their medical licenses taken away and be prosecuted for endangering the public. Some of these guys were trying to claim plaquenil was the cure. There was no good evidence back then and since then theres been strong data that says its absolutely useless. Anyone still using it for covid is a dumbass.
