Nope. If the person has no history of mental incompetence then their parents have no power over them as an adult.

This may vary by state, I just know that in CA parents can't send the police after their adult children for not making contact with them.

I get the feeling that most of the people voting plain metal key with no electronics are simply unaware that their key is encoded with an electronic signature that is read by the car to verify that the correct key was inserted. Its kinda like a credit card magnetic strip, and unless your car is like 40 years old youve probably got one of those. You can tell really easily if your key doesnt really look like a house key and just is mostly straight and smooth with barely any notches at all.

My car is 16 years old now and its a regular key. Heh. I have a fob for unlocking the doors but it isnt an RF system or anything.

If it looks like any of these keys then its definitely not regular, at least not in the sense that its with no electronics. These kinds of keys are not particularly unique and have an electronic signature in addition to any nicks in them to make it far less likely that you can accidentally, or intentionally, start up someone elses car with your key. The protection in the fob for unlocking the doors isnt necessarily as secure but the combination of physical shape and digital signature at least make it very very unlikely that you can start up a second car with the same key.

Even in comparison to the smaller country, in a hypothetical in which all the people who "internet care" about this situation are in the US it is still statistically insignificant.

This is why I make the argument that it is silly to call people in the US hypocritical when consuming Chinese products or buying Blizzard stuff when you consider that the overwhelming majority of even US Reddit users don't care about this issue, forget about the people who don't visit aggregate sites with voting mechanics.

It's a thing in all corners of the software development industry, the large corporations just have multiple projects going on simultaneously so people can be shifted over to something else once their application goes into maintenance.

Most people simply don't have an appreciation for the level of effort which goes into building stuff because software development is one of those things that is so intimidating that many have never looked into how it is done, they just expect computers to work, that's my belief anyway.

In any case, that's why I've never had any desire to be a game dev. ~14 years as a dev and I have purposely stayed away from it, and not only due to the fact that those companies pay less than half industry standard.

Despite having Skyrim on pc, ps3, and 360, I'm tempted to get it for the Switch for the convenient mobility... although I think I'll probably wait until there's a good sale, either for the physical or digital version.

Same here.

I want it but not for $60, mostly because I know that I'll only play it for like five hours and then forget about it like with the pc version. It'd definitely be good airplane fodder.

I've been to the Vegas one and one in weho, was unimpressed both times.

I'm not seeing why it is popular... Maybe those are just bad locations? But I suppose lots of fast food places that are popular aren't good so that shouldn't be used as a rubric..

Like I said, I was talking about the air guard evacuation order. I was literally in the room where and when the decision was made. FYI: when people say "national guard" they are usually talking about the army national guard, the air force national guard is under a separate authority within NGB.

Well it definitely wasnt the governor because he was still phoning from Sacramento at the time. It was the office of emergency management or whatever they decided to call it. Whenever theres an emergency theres a central liaison thats called an emergency manager whos sole job is to coordinate between all the different emergency bodies who dont normally work together in their everyday activities. Its a civilian and theyll coordinate between security, police, sheriffs, fire, feds, and even army if need be. I worked for an emergency manager once, but he was only an emergency manager for MTA.

It depends on the order that the governor gives whether a civilian or a guardsman will be in charge, in the case of the guard it will be a T32 dual status commander who has the guard and the T10 and 50 folks under them. I've been an XO under dual status commanders for many of the disasters in California over the last ten years or so and I can go on about it ad nauseum.

While it is true that the governor tells the guard what to do, in a way the specific wing commander has the final say simply due to reservists and guardsmen being human and sometimes being on vacation out of the country or something like that. If an aero evac squadron cannot supply the people or aircraft to fill what we call a unit type code then we refuse the mission and it goes to another aero evac squadron that we are paired with in another part of the country. What I was telling you was that I was in the room with my wing commander, group commanders, and squadron commanders when the decision was made that we had the people and planes to be able to accept the mission of possibly evacuating people, we then put our flyers into crew rest.

This guy about eighteen years ago claimed to be have been working on the newest smash brothers and started posting supposed leaks, things that of course when melee came out later turned out to be false.
