You were all right. Newer games are all universally awful and I cannot find games that I actually enjoy anymore. Everything is way too focused on action or player versus player content. If it isn't either of those, it's an indie game with a very repetitive gameplay loop that I am not interested in after a couple of hours.

I'm not even sure if I like JRPGs anymore, Purchased Tales of Vesperia Remastered and only put like 20 hours in it. I have to completely re-evaluate what I actually like in games.

I like newer games aside from multiplayer ones. I dont like some of the shit companies pull like loot boxes overpriced dlc but the games itself are usually still good.

Watching E3 this year and so far not a single game has really interested me. I hate action games, first person games, and anything focused around player versus player. Baldur's Gate 3 might be the one game that I actually buy because Larian has a really solid track record in my eyes after playing Divinity OS2.

You're getting picky after like idk, 20 years of gaming probably, little things bug you, plus games are like 40-50 hours of content, you do that for a couple hours a day for like 2 weeks of course you'd get tired of a game and move on.

someone quote me, ignore and all.

I feel the same thing sometimes... I think games are noticeably bad now because you have a lot of corporate junk trying to disguise themselves as art, and it's incredibly easy to get fooled into it-- it might take you 1, 5, 10, or 20 hours into your game before you realize everything is really cheaply budgeted for, sloppy, has zero replayability value, etc.-- and you feel like a fool for wasting your time and money.

In my opinion, older games were mostly art (out of love as opposed to money grab games/rushed/poor design intended for a quick sell) and it generated a lot more school conversation because the internet hadn't been much more than dial-up yet.

Hmm.. 72 years old, built my first simple video game for oscilloscope display in 1961 when I was 14. As I get older, games keep getting better. Great open-ended games that I can play for hundreds of hours.. Forza, Monster Hunter, Earth Defense Force, Elite, etc.

My funs been ruined one too many times. Jaded, yes. I do enjoy fun, I just have so little time that it's hard to balance work, browsing the web and actually playing games. I tend to play games that I can play wile browsing or watching videos.

One of my biggest things is a repetitive gameplay loop. Great example of this is in the game Silent HIll: Shattered Memories which basically comprised as running in a specific direction and jumping over obstacles. Environments looked different but the gameplay loop got boring after the first 5 minutes and the entire game was sloppy. Every game I play has very obvious gameplay loops like that but usually a lot less extreme.

I can't think of a time in video game history where I would be inclined to agree with that claim.

Yeah, it happens, especially if you're in the 33-39 age range.

You start recognizing that everything that is released is a rehash of stuff you've already seen, gaming starts to get really boring.

Im 35, and I ageee that games are getting less interesting. This is the worst generation to me. There were so few games last generation I was into, and this one is worse. Games that look like they might interest me, just ultimately do not and I stop playing them.

For a while I went back and found games I never had for older system's and bought and played through those. But now that I finished the ones I wanted to, I either find myself replaying some, or not playing anything at all. Our xbox one has basically turned into a Netflix/WWE Network and other player.

Same thing with anime.

And the really good ones that come out occasionally are usually 12 episode short runs, or 12 episodes with a second season that takes years to come out and doesn't live up to the first season.

I prefer animes that are short. Maybe not that short but I like it when the creator obviously had a story in mind already and just stuck that instead of milking it for decades. Full metal alchemist for example as compared to say dbz or Naruto

Indie games are the only reason I haven't outright stopped gaming. I mean hollow knight, shovel knight and Isaac are all amazing games. But I have lost a ton of interest in gaming overall.

We're in the best time for anime since the 2006 era right now, i don't have time to watch half the anime i want before the new season starts lol

Attack on Titan 3, One Punch 2, Diamond no Ace 3, Isekai Quartet, Stray Dogs 3, Carole & Tuesday, Jojo 5 - all from the spring season alone, then you also have the ongoing One Piece, Dororo and Vrains
