Boss was really emphatic about giving me recommendations/etc. and I could tell he wanted to even avoid the conversation and his wife is my cousin and we had a pretty long talk about the whole thing. COVID really fucked things up :(. The good news is though I have though references when I find something. I just don't know when shit will stabilize now that COVID TRUMP VIRUS is back to being a big bullshit problem and states would be doing their best if they shut the flying fuck up and down again...

I've thrown a few connections around but have not heard back so those connections might be dry but I have a 10 year reference under my belt too and some connections are in Boston which isn't super covid friendly these days. so we'll see. Getting my new AC fixed is most important (unbelievable motherfucker was missing one of the drain plugs and started leaking onto the floor immediately. That is some bullshit)

Covid hurt my boss' businesses just enough so that he had to cut back on payroll and that meant I got hit. He had to lose most employees at his second business, which is suffering more. I haven't had to look for work in almost 15 years. This is surreal and annoying. I'm not even mad. I was anxious as fuck to go back and I almost didn't want to (public transport is still in COVID levels now so I wouldn't have been able to go back for at least a few weeks.

I'm pissed off about this, but I am officially unemployed :( (and I hope I figure something out before too long)

For context, I've been unsure of where I am gender-wise for a long time. I don't believe I'm trans. I don't feel "wrong" in a male body but I don't feel necessarily right either. I've been conflicted and I've ignored it because it was always easier to ignore than address.

I had a conversation with my mother tonight that lasted 2 hours and I don't know when this subject actually began but it did begin. I don't know exactly how I feel or who exactly I am... again, it's not black and white. If it was, I would have figured it out by now but I haven't and I'm near 40. I'm physically male and I appreciate my physique. I like my beard. I like my core. I like my legs. I'd like my arms more if they were bigger but that's beside the point...

I've been conflicted for a long time. I've been confused for a long time. As a child, I talked myself into being more traditionally male because it made sense at the time. I don't know that I was wrong to do that. If I have any dysmorphia, it's about not being ideal and that really goes either way depending on what's closer, which at this point is male...

But a few years ago I posted a selfie here with a filter. A real pic and an edited gender-swapped pic. In one, my eyes were sad. In the other, they were happy. I didn't recognize that person. I made jokes, I'm sure. That me was not me, but that person felt more like me than I did maybe...

When I look in the mirror now, I don't know. I don't feel like I should either way. I feel conflicted.

I told my mother tonight. I haven't expressed this prior and if not for everything that has happened recently, I likely would not have. I've felt it was better to just keep under wraps because that was always easier. I changed my mind.

I still don't fully understand. I doubt I ever will and if I could, I would have by now. I really don't get it. I feel "acceptable" in my body. I feel like if I was born female, it would necessarily make more sense.. like... I've grown accustomed to me, but maybe I don't really know me. I don't know. I've only ever been attracted to women. I'm not unclear on that. Maybe that's why it's been so easy to walk around this. Am I a cisgender straight male or am I someone else? I don't know and that's what I had to address and really I still don't know.

The main point though, is that I don't know... and I never have, and the current times are what it took for me to accept that.

I would give honorable mentions to Directors, Russian leaders, Gordon Ramsay vs. Julia Child (this might be an unpopular opinion but I loved that one), Jobs vs. Gates and Joker vs. Pennywise (I had lost interest in the current season until that one came out and I enjoy it more every time I watch it, while I don't really bother to re-watch the rest of season 6)

"There once was a time when I heard a subtle and initially indecipherable sound in a shared kitchen of an apartment building I lived in at the time.

I want to preface this by spoiling it. The sound was a praying mantis. Somehow, It had become trapped in the kitchen window, probably at least partially because the window plants. They would have... made it a bit inconvenient to navigate, and we all know... insects are... well, basically as dumb as anything living on this planet gets... except maybe bacteria... other microscopic critters like that... besides them, insects are mentally at the bottom of the barrel as sentience is concerned... but they... insects... have survived already, more a mass extinction than we humans have. We are the apex predator... We have the apex mind... But insects have existed for millions of years before us and they will outlive us, probably by multiple mass extinctions... and in the insect world... the mantis... the mantis is... well, considered one of the most intelligent types of insect there is... and I say 'type' instead of 'species' because I don't want to speak too improperly. I know there are multiple species of mantis. I'm no entomologist. I'm just speaking from one experience...

On that subject... that one experience... I told you initially, spoiler alert. That sound in that kitchen was a mantis... and again, I'm no entomologist, but I'm going to respect a creature that is demonstrably exceptional to the majority of its counterparts, not to mention oddly beatiful... and she was... take a bit of time out to just think about it... what a physical oddity is the mantis? More importantly, how does a physical oddity achieve intellectual and evolutionary supremacy? I could rant for hours...

But I digress, she was a beauty... an exceptional specimen any collector would have dropped everything for, a once in a lifetime catch, a rarity in nature, pristine in condition and almost intimidating in size... well over half the length of my hand... and I wasn't sexualizing any of that by that way. You thought I was. I wasn't. A mantis that size isn't going to be a male...

But none of that is important. She wasn't getting out on her own and really, do I care? I did care. I have a soft spot for certain insects... mantids included. Normally they aren't all that smart... but mantids supposedly are. I reach out my hand. I just want this one to crawl onto me so I can let her outside. Not surprisingly, there's a fight or flight response... but it was further than that... That's where it got profound. It wasn't a fight or flight response. It was a fight or flight? response. Normally, an insect will flip an instinct switch and go all in, even into death. Fight or flight. It will get the pick and then it will be over. This was not that. This mantis asked the question in her own mind and actually weighed out whether to go with fight or flight... and I found that very fascinating. She squared up against my thumb. She boxed my fingers. Even after she correctly surmised that I meant to help and not harm her, she could have been self-destructively foolish as most insects are and done... any number of eye-rolling things... but she stayed on my hand.

By some innert communication either most basic and primative or by some possibly psychic telepathy, the message had been transmitted. I'm going to assume there was... some fair medium there between... the silly spectrum ends... but the important thing to remember in all of this is that I was uncharacteristically patient and she was characteristically astute, and in the end, we had a sort of... unspoken understanding, like we both on that day... avoided a hubris...

Maybe I walked right into another one... but if I did... this is most predictable cliche imaginable and if not, you all missed it.. and I just really have way too much much anxiety..."

I don't know who the guy was, this was my friend's friend, he lives in this county in Virginia. It's unfortunate regardless, maybe them stating they won't confirm it was fatal is a good thing and he isn't dead. This is a lot of second hand information right now, I can only find the one single story online about it.

I'm hoping for the best. Weeks ago I was like enough is enough. Now we're way past that and I'm just like fuck...I hope for the best for him but I feel like that doesn't even matter because this shit just still keeps fucking happening. This is basically, at its core, the biggest exercise in "I don't matter" that our generation has experienced and I really hate that. Modded. Pretty hilarious since the other pizza posts earlier in the topic are still up yet mine got deleted very quickly. Clearly there is a biased mod against me or I somehow attract a ton of mass marking by my mere presence.

I'm not going to delete mine but I do suspect the mods will considering this topic so far... which is frustrating to see. So often I see sprees of trolling and horrendous posts in topics and the topics themselves just get locked with the horrendous posts ignored. Yet here, the topic is alive and well in spite of the creator being rightfully warned and posts are dying left and right. I can forgive the mod staff for operating in a flawed manner because I've been around long enough to see that they never have been and never will be perfect, but this blatant spitting in the face of consistency surprises me even now. If they were playing their cards as they always do, this topic would be locked and all of those posts would be inactioned, but the opposite has occurred, and has occurred in context where said posts were harmless and said topic was never not trolling. This is a very bad look and I am very much in disapproval of it. I have defended mods at times when I've felt they've been playing their parts appropriately but this is not something I condone. It may just be the work of one rogue element acting outside the bounds of the system, and that will happen and I understand that it happens, but I would hope that it doesn't become a pattern and I would hope that the rogue element would be informed of the bounds so that this scenario can be prevented from recurrence.

I'm glad I unblocked you because this is a really important conversation imo. Personally, I find it difficult to have "a" favorite topping, since I don't really ever order just one topping, but there are a lot of good combinations. Pepperoni with any kind of peppers, buffalo chicken with olives, any kind of hot peppers, I always like supreme/deluxe/house but always with no onions. Fuck onions.

As for topic creator's conversation that he made this topic to discuss, I'm oddly on the fence about anchovies. I do like them but they are so fucking salty. I got a pizza from a place near where my parents live one time that had anchovies, basil, garlic and I think chili flakes. It was good, but if I was going to order it again, I'd ask for them to go light on the anchovies. I was drunk when I got it too and I like saltier food when I'm wasted but it was still saltier than I would have preferred lol
