The writing is overall stronger but it's more of a road trip vibe. So it's not a consistent location like the academy.

It's pretty different so far overall. There's no mystery or anything like that as a motivation. It's about two brothers on the run.

Its kind of like the scary stories to tell in the dark. The stories themselves are more silly than amateur creepypasta but the artwork is pure nightmare.

Soem are meh, like that thing that washed ashore and the people that fly and drop no reason.

It just dont make sense.

The best ones are those with contained story and more grounded or focus more on characters like the chair one.

alot of these are just famous because of their grosteque art. most of the time, the story are pretty bland, to downright ridiculous and things happens just because of their shock value. while i agree, art wise like the body horror and all the unsightly stuff are drawn really well, it doesn't really have anything else to add.

the one shots are the best. that story with the hole and my favorite the human chair is great. everything else range to meh to just straight up bad.

the longer one, i only read uzumaki. the quality went to good to just wtf (in a negative way) in the end. the first few chapters are the best where the scale was still individual that it represent the character's obessions or traits that went spiralling out of control, but around the mosquito chapters and snail chapters it became kind of ridiculous. the characters actions don't make sense and they should abandon the town long ago.

after the hurricane chapters it just went downright ridiculous not in a good way. the ending is meh, but i do like the lovecraftian inspiration.

i actually liked not having to worry about which equipment to use.

maybe because i am mostly an RPG player. finding good, unique loot (like good one not diablo style random generated color coded one) feels good and honestly finding sets that let you improve your playstyle, figuring out best combos or even sets that derail your entire playstyle and makes you feel you want to learn a new style feels so good.

yeah. boss fight are real good, the rest isnt much fun.

the mini bosses are mixed too. most of them are random samurais. aesthetically they look like regular mooks but bigger, and there isn't too much variation between their looks or movesets (at least from what i feel)

the memorable mini boss is the guy with the spear gun and the bull, drunkard is fun too. the generals are boring. the first one was cool because it was your first duel against enemies that don't go down after several hits. it feels like proper duel between master swordsmen, blows were being traded, swords meet sword, but by the time you got to ashina castle, like the guy guarding the gate, i already got how to exploit. basically just barrage them with attacks, parry parry parry attack, parry parry and they will break and you just press the finisher button and they die.

the real bosses are excellent. lady butterfly, that wagyu horse guy and genichiro is damn good.

in fact, i consider genichiro one of the best bosses in from's library that i have played.

but traversing? eeeeeeh. despite making it more mobile than souls, i find traversing level either a pain in the ass or trivial because you can just run trough anything. stealth killing becomes boring the more you do it. plus the stealth AI is dumb as fuck sometimes. you can kill someone within 10 meters of their allies and just leave their corpses there and they won't notice.

ORIGIN: Yamata no Orochi appears in the earliest written Japanese documents, the Kojiki and the Nihongi. Without a doubt, the legend goes back even farther into pre-history.

LEGENDS: Ages ago, the storm god, Susanoo, was thrown out of heaven and descended to earth at Mount Torikama near the Hi River in Izumo Province. There, he came upon an elderly couple of gods named Ashinazuchi and Tenazuchi, who were weeping. When Susanoo asked why they were crying, they explained that they once had eight daughters, but every year the eight-headed-eight-tailed serpent Yamata no Orochi demanded one as a sacrifice. They were now down to their eighth and final daughter, Kushinada hime. Soon it would be time for Yamata no Orochi to demand a sacrifice.

Susanoo explained that he was the elder brother of the sun goddess Amaterasu, and offered to slay the beast in return for Kushinada himes hand in marriage. The elderly couple agreed, and Susanoo set in motion his plan to defeat the serpent.

First, Susanoo transformed Kushinada hime into a comb, which he placed in his hair. Then, he had Ashinazuchi and Tenazuchi build a large fence with eight gates. On each gate they raised a platform and on each platform they placed a vat. They poured extremely strong sake into each vat. When this was finished, everyone waited for the serpent to arrive.

When Yamata no Orochi appeared, the great serpent slithered into the fence and noticed the powerful sake. It dipped its eight heads into the vats and drank the alcohol. Soon, the monster fell into a deep, drunken sleep. Susanoo used this chance to make his attack. He sliced the enormous beast into tiny pieces with his sword. The carnage was so great that the Hi River flowed with blood. When Susanoo had cut the creature down to its fourth tail, his sword shattered into pieces. Examining the part of Yamata no Orochis tail which broke his sword, Susanoo discovered another sword within the creatures flesh: the legendary katana Kusanagi no Tsurugi.

Susanoo eventually offered Kusanagi as a gift to his sister, Amaterasu, and was allowed to return to heaven. The sword was passed down through the generations in the imperial line of Japan. It is one of the three pieces of imperial regalia, along with the mirror Yata no Kagami and the jewel Yasakani no Magatama. Today, the sword which came from Yamata no Orochis tail is said to be safeguarded in the Atsuta Shrine in Nagoya.

meanwhile dark soul's currency is simple, yet effective in alot of ways, it is a single, unified currency that affect the whole game system. alot of choices to be made mechanically too. do i spend it on skill point or upgrading weapon? do i save it so i can use to upgrade when i get better weapon or spend it immediately so i don't lose it all eventually when i died twice and didn't recover? ) when you die, recovering souls from your corpse feels like a worthy objective. depending on where you are, it can be puzzle of it's own. sekiro don't have these. all you have to do is git gud at parrying. after several hours, the whole thing become stale. you still use the same attacks, strategy, as you did 20 hours ago. the only difference is minor exploits using tools and skills, but it never reach that dark souls feel where you discover a new weapon you like, learning it's style on the go and find yourself a better combinations that you didn't plan. even if you go for a similar weapon style (sword and shield for example) there are alot of variation within. do you use bucklers or big shield? do you use smaller, weaker sword but lighter and faster or big sword that deals big damage?

i dunno, it feels like a bastard between darksouls and ninja gaiden, but it inherit nothing of what make those 2 enjoyable.

i got to genichiro, beat him, then several other mini bosses like the guy with the gun spear thing, the monkeys, etc. i am at the temple with kung-fu monks. i really not feeling this for whatever reason i can't figure out. it just won't click. i find the difficulty okay, it's exactly like dark souls, you die enough you gotta git gud eventually.

between the mostly useless loot (OH another fucking MIBU BALOONS YAAAAY!) and the levels that is kinda bland compared to dark souls 1 (it looks pretty, i really love the aesthethics and historical setting but the lack of interesting loot really killed whatever good those maps have. ) and the enemies are mostly humanoid one way or another, so are the bosses. like, the system don't add much too the game, the progression is kinda lame (okay so you got experience, skill points, that is used to increase your shinobi arts or whatever. yet those feel trivial. it's not like in dark souls where you level up your stats, and have enough requirement to equip badass weapon you get, et cetera)

you can get trough this game by pretty much gitting gud at parrying, and most of those are easy to pull off. the only skill that i feel matter is the mikiri counter. also the x-slash skill is sometimes useful. the ninja tools are also mostly useless. it can make your life a bit easier, but they feel ultimately trivial and upgrading them is a pain in the ass (either you RNG loot your shit or find occasional treasure chest that isn't mibu baloons or literal garbage ceramic) again, there is alot of creative use for them that i figured out, like abusing oil and the flamethrower, but in the end, there is no incentive because you can pretty much parry counter everything. they are useful for like the first several areas where u don't have prayer beads or memories. once you got 2 or 3 prayer bead chains your poise or whatever it is called is pretty much unbreakable, and honestly the penalty from breaking is too lenient because the enemies usually wait around idly and your bar have recovered, unless it is part of their moveset to barrage you after you break.

there are alot of garbage, small mechanics that amount to nothing. divine blessing or whatever for example. you got 30% chance of your exp and money saved after dying, then the rot reduce it by *gasp* 10% or whatever. what does it concern me ? nothing. money are mostly useless as upgrading your ninja kit feels useless, and exp is also useless because most of the skills are literal trash. it doesn't really encourage you to care about this shit. unlike souls from dark souls, it doesn't feel like a precious commodity. i feel nothing of value was lost when i die. on paper it seems more complex by separating resources into several categories. items and ninja tools depend on money, skill depend on EXP, while HP/Poise/attack power depend on prayer bead and memory ashes. on practice, they balance these aspect so so badly. the only shit that matter by the time you got basic skills and ninja tool is prayer beads and boss ashes (so you brute force trough everything).

??? What? Water benders are by far the strongest benders. Blood bending is straight just far and away the most broken shit the show has ever put out. Not only do you auto win battles but it also just has insane utility. You can control the actions of multiple people, and for some fucking reason take people's bending away. Or you can just kill em.

Only noatok can do that. Other water benders need the power of full moonlight do pull something like that.
