Either way, I try to think of the partner question as much less a morality issue and more as risk assessment. It is in our best interests to mitigate risks in our lives, unless you can offset it with some benefit. This shouldnt be hard to understand. One of the biggest predictors of your future is your past. We look at educational background, possible criminal record, financial status of your family, single vs double parent household, credit scores and so on to predict future behavior. Yes, its not a guarantee but ignore it at your own peril. All organizations know this, which is why they want to know your past employment when you apply for work. Likewise, good luck telling an insurance company theyre just being insecure when they start asking about your medical history. Its only when it comes to sexual history that all of a sudden we are supposed to not ask questions at all, which makes it harder to spot red flags (i.e. risky). Interesting. --- ... |
