Most celebs have a freakout where they do/say something stupid. Will's problem is he got caught doing it on live TV.

Until it becomes a pattern, I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt on this one and say he simply reached his breaking point.

That acceptance speech was cringeworthy to along with that pr written apology. And now he's claiming that joke brought back child hood trauma from his abusive father? Doing to much now just say you fucked up without all the melodrama.

Not really. Don't get me wrong, it was absolutely not appropriate to do and he is in the wrong. But like, people are blowing this up to make Will Smith look like an unhinged lunatic. When ultimately he is a dude who got mad someone said something crass about his wife and threw a punch. It's not okay, but it's hardly some grand indictment of his character. If this happened in a bar and it wasn't Chris Rock people would probably have chalked this up to "talk shit, get hit".

On the flipside of this, I also don't think Chris Rock is some sort of gigantic insensitive asshole either. He made a bad joke, but like that happens to the best of comedians.

Honestly this will probably be something everyone else is harping on long after the two of them have patched things up.

Also this completely. It was definitely wrong of Will. But I think people are overreacting. Chris Rock's joke was bad, but I feel it was mostly a harmless joke.

Apparently Smith and Rock have a history and if it was any other comedian up there Smith would of let it slide.

That being said, I could care less. There is much more important news going on right now in the world.

The more I've been hearing about his relationship with his wife, and her being in love with Tupac has convinced me that he could've been responsible for the hit on Tupac.

May just be me not caring much about it, but yeah i agree. I also feel the drama is way overplayed.

Of course my opinion wont matter to him. Doesnt change that he handled the situation in one of the worst ways possible. If anything, my opinion of Chris Rock skyrocketed. Hes a smart, veteran comedian who could have gone super hard at Will with probably a thousand ways to verbally bury him, but Rock stopped himself. And you know thats true because he even tried to help Smith save face by reminding him that it was a joke about GI Jane. But Smith couldnt even regain his composure to know he was being lobbed a softball and instead started yelling, then crying. When Smith turned that award acceptance speech into a ridiculous non-apology about love, I literally laughed out loud.
