SHOULD. If this nuclear reactor thing in Russia Ukraine pans out the price may able to be pinned in which case just staying through the 8th for the dividend might be worth. I do think this is one of the better stocks to be on right now though. We've got the company itself helping so it could very well prove tank proof.

Honestly if the situation goes really sour SPY puts with like a month long duration might be a good safety cushion

Basically the same concoction that sent Rocket from 20-43 last year (short interest is supposedly lower-- I dont know if I believe that given the price in the past year). Thinking we at minimum hit 20 again by the time that dividend hits

So the key here is Rocket has 700m of cash they can use on share buybacks that expire at the end of the year

I think they plan on using every last bit of remaining supply in the coming weeks. They're going to get as much back into their holding as they can comfortably do before the dividend next week. Then I think they're going to keep some in reserve to prevent it from being a pump and dump again, by counter buying shorts at the top and keep the burn going.

Will it work? I don't know. But I see no reason rocket wouldn't expend most of their supply about now

If you're fiending to get some chips in the game and believe in the meme squeeze, RKT is looking rock solid right now. They have another special dividend lined up (same one that ran them from $20 to $40 last year) and it's $1.01 so even if it doesn't run you get a nice little dividend.

Just be sure to look up the record date and distribution date

I see nuking Ukraine as a few more layers of losing over nuking like France or Germany or the UK or the US.

You could maybe be totally delusional and think the latter works out somehow if you're Russia. I don't know. Like maybe you think you can follow that up with a bluff that everyone else gets nuked if they try anything and Ukraine surrenders.

But like nuking Ukraine in the absolute best case is just bad on every level. Like even if they don't face NATO at that point it has no real positives.

Now I DO think Putin nuking non-neighboring countries is on the table. If he wants to "make history by dropping a nuke" that would be the more sane way to do it. It's also extremely unlikely, but it's at least more plausible and maybe even thought of as a viable approach for someone who isn't completely insane.

BUT I also don't think he'll nuke Ukraine (or stage some sort of gambit to be justified in doing so). All this talk of nukes is just intimidation.

However, hypothetically, if someone in power in Russia were to nuke Ukraine they would have to be-- that or extremely stupid (and Putin clearly isn't the latter, though the people in the chain of command for launching might be)

Right. And to that, I really don't think so. Most people will just follow orders at some level, but a no win nuke order like that, I just don't think would happen. Putin would have needed to masterfully craft the level with nuke oversight to be deranged or just outright stupid.

It just doesn't make any sense to nuke a neighboring country. I feel like I'm treating this like a game of Civilization with that point by point but it really is true.

I don't think Putin nukes Ukraine. There's literally nothing to gain in that. Putin would need to be actually mentally ill for that, and he'd need enough of his regime to be mentally ill to follow through with it.

My bigger concern would be someone else nuking Russia and Russia nuking back, or Russia nuking someone else who is "interfering" (and likely being nuked back) which seems very unlikely at this point (and given the reported state of its tanks and stuff I would be somewhat surprised if Russia had much range on its nukes)
