Black Flag, even though the last time I tried to play through it it crashed during an auto save and I lost hours and hours of progress and I haven't been back to it since.

Obviously I can't speak for everyone regarding Revelations but I know I didn't think too highly of it when it first came out because I think I was just really burnt out on the format at that point. When the Ezio Collection was released I enjoyed it a lot more.

It's like a 7 to Stick of Truth's 7.5. There's just something I can't quite put my finger on that SoT has that FBW doesn't.

I guess I'd say don't pay that much for it unless you've got a real burning desire to play it.

Love, love, love Dragon's Dogma! One of my all time favourite games. Glad you're enjoying it, TC! What class(es) are you playing/planning on playing?

I last played it when the remaster for PS4 came out and got the platinum on it. Now I'm conflicted with wanting to play it fresh again and not wanting to lose my save file. Probably should go back to one of my other copies...

@LividDK Fighter for now. I enjoy the melee combat in this game far too much to not focus on it. I have a Strider for my main pawn though.

@Lathissamus That's fair, the combat is super fun and one of the things I don't think I realised the first time I played was that a "basic" vocation doesn't necessarily mean "worst" and that Fighters, Striders and Mages all fill particular roles in the party.

There's a lot of stuff out there about level progression and how stat gains change for each class for the most efficient builds but honestly I'd just have fun and play whatever class you want. You'll only really struggle if you decide to go in to Bitterblack Isle as a fresh Sorcerer after playing the whole game as a Fighter (but even then, the you'd level up enough as a Sorcerer while in the dungeon to make a pretty good Mystic Knight without too much work).

I'd say it's worth it. Entirely new area with a much different feel to Boston and a lot of new content.

@weekoldhotdog: Nuka World also gives you another map and you can play the overwhelming majority of it it without becoming a bad guy (including completing the story content).

It's from this: https://www.polygon.com/2012/11/14/3560244/max-payne-3-multiplayer-bullet-time-bursts-and-player-customization

That should give a much better description than my vague memories. It's still fairly convoluted though!

Wait, I was just joking but there are people running around normally while you're in slo-mo?

Yeah, basically anyone uninvolved in that particular firefight. As soon as one of those players looked at you/came in to your vision they'd go into slowmo too.

From what I remember it slows down you and anyone in your line of sight, as well as anyone else who's looking at you (players that are behind you, for example). I think you had to select it as a perk, too. On top of that you got buffs to your rate of fire and maybe weapon damage?

It's been a really long time though so I might be misremembering some details. I do remember the multiplayer being quite good fun but the rewards for levelling up were drip-fed so it could be a bit of a slog getting the next useful weapon or ability.

These threads have had some awful fanboy bullshit, I swear.

Anyway, if it's a single player RPG it'll be a day one purchase for me. If it's some kind of MMO or it's multiplayer focused then it'll be the first Fallout since Brotherhood of Steel that I've passed on, and that'll be a disappointment.

Been looking forward to watching this but it came out while I was away on holiday so I haven't had chance yet. Jon really knows his stuff with regards to Fallout 3 and New Vegas specifically; if you check out any of his playthroughs I almost guarantee you'll learn something new even if you're a long time fan.

I'm pretty sure it was his JSawyer mod playthrough of New Vegas that someone on here recommended over a year ago that got me subscribed to MATN in the first place so thanks to whoever that guy was.

So how do I guarantee Madeleine to be my SO?

And thanks, I will continue to throw my friends off the cliffs.

Without giving away spoilers, do a couple of side quests for her to ensure her affinity is full. If you need to lower someone else's affinity who's already at max you can 1) sheathe and unsheathe your weapons in close proximity to them over and over again (if they visibly react/flinch this lowers their affinity), 2) sprint in to them to knock them around (I think this one works, not sure), or 3) there's a special item you can get in Bitterblack Isle called Liquid Effluvium that you can use as a gift to instantly remove all affinity from an NPC.

Edit: That last one is tricky to get however, as you'll struggle with BBI if you go there before finishing the main game. Don't worry too much about it if you mess up and someone else ends up as your love interest though. Post-game they just chill around your house in Cassardis and everything carries over to NG+, affinity and all, so you can fix things with very little effort.

Just a heads up, the NPC with the highest affinity with you will appear in certain cutscenes as your love interest. The Arisen's bond will instantly raise any NPC's affinity to the highest level (they'll blush when talking to you and a tone will sound).

However, multiple NPCs can hold the same level of affinity with you, in which case the last one you spoke to takes precedence. Cue me in my first ever playthrough resting at the inn in Gran Soren before heading off to a big story mission and having Asalam the inn keeper playing the role of a damsel in distress -_-

Naomi. That accent in MGS1 gave me the vapors.

Don't know why they changed it in subsequent games.

Because the jig was up, obviously. Furthermore, Jennifer Hale voiced the character throughout all her appearances.

They dropped the accent in The Twin Snakes as well though. Same with Mei Ling.

I'm hoping the sales for the remaster have been good enough to make them consider it afresh.

I don't think I can be much help on the recommendations front since I really only play Civilisation 6 on PC these days (although if you want a timesink game that definitely fits) but I'll enter pretty much any thread talking about Dragon's Dogma. God, I absolutely love that game so, so much. I'm guessing with the amount of hours you put in that you did a second run through BBI for the "true" final boss?

It's an absolute diamond in the rough, isn't it? ^_^

And yeah, I did basically everything you can do.

I completed the game on Normal first, went to BBI during the post-game (at like level 35 or something) and realized that was a stupid idea. XD Then went to the Everfall and messed around for a few hours there before starting a NG+ on Hard Mode. Finished the game on Hard (this time using a quest order guide to make sure I didn't accidentally cancel/skip any of the side quests), and then went to BBI again. I was about level 65-75 at this point, I think. Managed to slowly work my way through to the boss and somehow beat him after about a 20-minute fight that I was absolutely not prepared for. XD Did some farming for the lvl3 BBI gear and leveling up as I worked through it a second time. By the time I got to the "true" boss I was already in the 160s level-wise with a bunch of gold/silver rarefied gear, but I'd taken to going solo Magic Archer by that point so the fight was still a fun one. Then did a quick speedrun mode (35:19 on the timer, which I was pretty happy with considering I didn't properly prep for it and mostly went in blind), followed by some Death farming to reach lvl 200 and finish up all the Steam achievements. It's actually the first Steam game I've gotten 100% of the achievements on.

I have a feeling it's going to be one of those games that I can't help but pick back up every year or so and play through again because it's just fantastic and the combat is SOOOO satisfying.

I know exactly what you mean. I think it holds my record as I've currently bought it 4 separate times (the original and DA versions on Xbox 360, DA on Steam, and the remaster on PS4). My PS4 run was pretty much what you experienced; I went to BBI just to clear the quest notification and thought "how bad could it be?". Turns out it can be pretty bad when you're not prepared! It was a really satisfying time getting through it though, and it was the kind of difficulty that was perfect after completing the story. Thinking about all the new monsters and bosses is making me want to play it again, but I'm not prepared to overwrite my save just yet. It's one I'll be going back to again and again for sure, I just wish there was a chance they'd make a proper sequel rather than the MMO because there was a huge world outside of Gransys waiting to be explored.
