Tbh, Id probably prefer for that. Id rather be able to read the full topic instead of having chunks missing because I disagreed with someone. Im not even harassing of trolling them. every type of social media has features to try to block abuse, and this is the way it needs to work for gamefaqs otherwise the site is just gonna go away and very quickly I would bet. Even as things stand now none of us really know how much longer this site really has going for it. It could struggle along for decades but becoming more of cesspool isnt going to help it one bit.

Another thing I want to mention regarding a user that is upset about being blocked is that maybe they should pay attention and know that when some users say Anyone that decides to be transphobic in this topic even as a joke is just gonna be blocked by me that maybe they mean what they said.

There are multiple users who Ive blocked but then given another shot after some time goes by, but the reaction in this case really affirms to me that I made the right call with that one.

The people who block me always do because I dont agree with them. Like if I have a different opinion. Like one person who blocked everybody (including me) who anti-signed their site suggestion. Or the person who blocked me because we had a difference of what friends are for. And blocked someone who responded to him because he blocked me. Stuff like that

The problem is we dont know who has who blocked. And you can only post 2 post per minute. If you split up all your quotes, it can make it look bad. And you could get reported for that. Thats why this new rules is stupid

I've had schmen and Ziggy blocked since the feature came out, there are entire pages that ive not been able to see specifically because they're being quoted.

And I was blocked by 3 or 4 people who, while I couldnt see their post, and I could see their post is quotes Until the update

It literally has not. Like I said earlier, Sarcasthma has had men blocked for a couple months at this point. When people quoted him, I could see their posts. Only recently has their posts disappeared. Same with the other couple of people that have me blocked. So, no. It hasnt always worked this way. Unless it works different for every poster

As for the settings thing, I dont block, so I dont know about that. But Im guessing it swapped everyone if it exist. Because before the other day, I was still able to see quotes from all users that blocked me. And only starting after the update did that change

The money get spilt up a lot. While the overall pot is big, first it gets split between all the branches. Then each base. Then each group, and squadron, and such. And that money for each area has to get split between lots of stuff. Equipment to use, money for stuff like fuel and whatnot, money for TDYs/Deployments, money for clothing items, and everything else. And everything also cost more for the military And theres also the money for paychecks and everything

Abs they way they split it kind of sucks. Thats why at my base, my squadron barely has enough to keep our equipment to fixed because our jets are shitty. The other squadrons with the ones that barely break have enough to get fancy self-checkout things for their tools. And their building is nicer, as well

You can only take the first crafted item into the mines with you. If you craft more, you can find it in the mines, but you cant take it in with you on that run. So, its better to craft one items and one potion each run. And try to get the ones that go well with each other

But the chances of it happening improve with this feature. Like I said earlier, people might not log out for one post. But they most likely will if half the topic is missing because someone who blocked them is a main poster in that topic. Or is getting quoted (or quoting) a lot... And while you can keep blocking them, they could easily make a ton of alternate accounts easily. You can keep blocking, but they'll still get harassments in every so often...

It already worked like that before the change. You wouldn't know then, either. All this does is ruin the board. It adds nothing good... This change will most likely make things worse since people will have to log out or open another tab just to read the topic. Making it far more likely they will see the posts of people who blocked them...

You wouldn't know since you have them blocked. If someone is blocked or ignored, then you wouldn't see what they were posting, and whether they were posting to you or not... Unless you're logging out. Which then makes you more of a troll than they are.

And you haven't seen it much since it's new. When people can't read half the topic and replies to them because of this new feature, you'll probably start seeing it more...

You've explained, and it doesn't make sense. All blocking does extra in a normal topic is stop them from seeing your post. But if someone is dead set on harassing you, they'll log out (and possibly into an alt) to see your post. And they can still quote (old style) and reply. Blocking just makes it an extra step for them. But this makes things worse. Like earlier, Stream mentioned he would have skipped Mead's post if he was only missing one person. He may not have quoted him. But since he was missing half the post in the topic, he open a private browsing page. That's should be evidence enough that more people are going to start logging out to start seeing most of the topic in many cases. Meaning people who wouldn't have quoted you before because they were blocked might actually start quoting you (or quoting you more) because they are seeing your post more...

And while I don't see the necessity in the block feature, I'm more mad about the quote thing here. It's going to suck trying to read through the board topics now... Even worse if they start taking away the track function or post "you aren't suppose to see."

But you're also taking away their ability to see post meant for them if a poster quoted you and them in the same post. You're also blocking a poster who wants to talk to you from talking to you since they also talked to a person you don't want to talk to. This just breaks the site...

I believe it's been explained how most of those those things could be achieved with ignore or the original block without disturbing the boards even more. Or how block is actually making things worse for you since more people will probably log out or open private browsing, meaning you'll probably have more people that you blocked trying to interact with you since they'll now see you post. Like how if only your post were missing, Stream wouldn't have checked. But because half the topic was missing, he did...

And they probably haven't noticed yet. I only noticed because of one post on another board. But many may not have realized it yet. Or probably haven't figured out it's a change. Even EvilMegas thought it was always like this. And I'm sure the people who block people constantly like it. I mean, I think like three people blocked me because I disagreed with them. And one blocked me because I said anti-sign on their site-suggestion. They blocked everyone who said it. I'm sure people like that don't mind fucking up the forum for everyone else...

I could never use this site without the block feature. Imagine seeing the Full Throttle posts or many of the other garbage clogging up the stream. I dont know how some of you can stand it.

You can use ignore to not see his topics, as well And because he rarely post (and only in his topics 99.99% of the time), ignore fully works for what you want. And the reason many can is because people actually talk in his topics. Not reason for most to block him. And honestly, its not hard to just scroll past topics I dont want to participate in

He has an alt, he was using it when his Mead account was banned or warned or whatever, and unless it's changed, he didn't have people blocked on that one.
I don't have any alts, so if/when he lashes out, I can't counter-report him for the same offense unless I stoop to his level and make an alt.
Making alts always seemed pretty distasteful to me, like a blatant middle finger to the moderation system that intended to keep you away for a while.

So yeah, this update unintentionally promotes a lot of crappy behavior...

You only control what they see coming from you in that case. But now, you can control what they see from other peoples post since they cant see their post if they quote you and another person. Before I'd see a post or 2 missing, realize, "oh, must be a Mead post. Nothing of value was lost" and move on.
Now that I'm missing giant gaps of posts, I'm absolutely gonna check it. As mentioned, I could even be missing seeing posts directly quoting and responding to me.
This change CREATED the problem.

And that's literally the first and only time I'll ever quote Mead (which he has since done to me as well, which I want to point out b/c I know damn well he WILL be that pedantic and petty, if he hasn't already reported it).
I don't know why he's got such a delusional fucking victim complex, but I literally not once have ever quoted or replied to him since he blocked me, until now. Just to prove a point that his argument in favor of the change is a complete joke.

I think he would have to unblock you to do that. Not only that, but it doesnt even show who you quote. So, youd have to get a mod who might actually check. Not sure if they would, though. Though, he is reading your post, AFAIK

How so? If only your post was missing, he may not have open private browsing to see it. But he said half the post were missing since my post quoting you were also missing. If anything, it proves more people will log out or open private browsing to see posts since their topics will be checkered, meaning more interaction between the blockers and the blocked

It's very, very common for posts that quote a given user to contain plenty of information beyond that quote, including quoting and responding to other users. Eliminate the quote, sure, but hiding the whole post just needlessly interferes with normal board use.

I agree with this. At most, hide the quote. But dont hide the post. If I responded to both you and Stream, he wouldnt be able to see since you have him blocked even though I was responding directly to him. Same if I responded to the topic title, and also quotes you in the same post. It interferes with everybody. Now just the blocker and the blocked

thats a barrier of effort that I dont think many users are going to resort to very often, and if I wanted to get petty or pedantic about it, he is probably violating the site rules by quoting the message of a user who has blocked his account

No. He just open the page on private browsing, which opens the page logged out. Meaning he can see all post. He didnt even have to log out of you so it like that.

And if you think thatll stop people, youre very wrong. It actually causing them to do it more. If Im missing one post, I might not care to see it. And may just skip over. But if half the topic is empty, Ill almost definitely log out (or open a private browser) because I cant read a topic that way. This is more likely to have posters interacting more with the posters that blocked them. It may also result in more people making alts so they can read a topic without half of it being empty
