Remember how much most of us were loving it for the first few weeks. Word spread that "it was good this year" and... then Paul turned the narrative into one about bullying and everything went to shit almost instantly.

And maybe the Coup was pulled out of thin air. I wonder the most about BB13's pre-jury buyback. That also reeks of suspicion.

BB17 was good, but not as good as seasons 6, 7, and 10. BB17's biggest problem was its extremely young cast - but at least there were more people that were actually trying to play the game. That said, there was still Meg...

Paul is the biggest problem with BB19. I was so excited about this season upon cast announcement, then I was like "UGH, they ruined it!" when I heard about Paul.

Peridiam posted...
It's pretty amazing how in the history of BB and Survivor, in every season that a returning player has played amongst new players, at least 1 of the returning players has reached the end -- except once. And that one exception required the most OP power in BB history to get him out.

The rule is that if there's more than one veteran, at least one will make the end and face the jury. Jesse being a lone veteran in BB11 was part of why he didn't make the end - there was no backup target for that stupid Coup. There's also the question: Was the Coup originally planned to be for Mr. Pectacular when it was initially conceived, but that changed when America started liking Big Jeff?

The message a Cody win would send is to players, both current and future, that to win #AFP you must have the testicular fortitude to challenge the status quo.

Unfortunately, given how dominated by recruits this show is, the message will likely fall on deaf ears. Therefore, we need to give #AFP to someone who actually gives a damn about the show. Cameron, Ramses, Josh, Jessica, and Cody all come to mind. Cameron would send the strongest message but the casuals don't remember him, so we have to vote for Jessica or Cody. Jessica wants us to unite the vote for Cody, so that's what we should do.

Big Brother really needs to do a better job casting women. Raven, Alex, and Christmas were all useless and Jillian probably was, too. Megan quit. Jessica being a big fan was a great thing - despite her sloppy play - and Elena was a semi-decent mactor casting (her guffawing in Raven's face last night was particularly great). Aside from the stupid religion thing, Dominique had potential.

Kassting really needs to stop with the braindead famewhores and only cast interesting mactors - and just a couple per season, instead of casting more mactors than actual fans. One reason Survivor has been more consistently great during the "Big Moves Era" is that they have very, very few mactor types and a good chunk of fans of the show. MvX in particular was dominated by fans of the show and that's why it was such a phenomenal season. Big Brother hasn't had a season that good in ages and the fault is with its casting.

I picked the second option.

I actually get bored as shit with what I do at times, but the people around me make it extremely worthwhile. Some of them have told me they'd have lost their sanity long ago if they had my job. I also love the location, which allows me to unbore myself at lunch or after work. And, somehow, I manage to keep finding ways to entertain myself with work that's as redundant as a Milli Vanilli song.

Thinking I'll be here another two years at least, unless I get blindsided with another great opportunity like a few co-workers have.

Pretty sure I have that transcript saved somewhere because it's so great. Thanks for posting it - it was very needed.

This season is not great at all. My rankings are nearly identical to Naomi's...
Rooting for:
1. Mark

I'd be okay with:
2. Kevin
3. Whistle-Nut

If I absolutely had to accept someone that I don't really want to:
4. Josh

Please, Grod, no:
5. DoorMatt
6. Christmas
7. Paul
8. Alex
9. Raven

5/9 of them are unacceptable winners that will permanently end my Big Brother viewership. In other words, it would truly be the last straw. Possible winners right now? Paul, with an outside chance of Josh or Whistle-Nut. Mark has a 1% shot. Everyone else has under 1% combined. It's going to be a boring, predictable five weeks, and it's highly likely that I will not even acknowledge BB20's existence aside from listening to Brent and/or Melissa ranting on the LFC roundtable podcasts.

It's also quite amazing that the Joker's poll right now has every evicted houseguest above everyone still in except Mark. Yes, Kevin is below everyone who has been evicted. Only one he's above that's not in the house is that quitter Megan. He might be above Jillian soon.

Really, regardless of whether you're watching BB19 or not, you should be watching Survivor AU4 anyway, honestly speaking.

It's called time. I don't have much.

I'll get to it eventually, when I have more of an opening and more of the season can be binged during that opening. So, probably Labor Day weekend (September 2-4 in the US) would be an ideal time to start. BB19 will be boring by that time since there will only be seven people left (or rather six sheeple and the shepherd). In other casts, the final seven is an explosive time. In this one, it will be all "FRIENDSHIP 4EVER!" Puke.

No idea how much time I'll have this coming weekend (have a lot to tend to) and next weekend I have no opportunity.

Yes, Idris Elba would have made a good Bond. And I too don't see how him being black changes the character. Race is not important. But for some reason, some people think it is, and want "diversity quotas."

No, the most fitting person for the role should get it. Idris Elba would fit. And that has nothing to do with his race.

Daniel Craig better be good in this. He was very stale in SPECTRE, which is because he claims he was bored. It's awful that we have to wait until 2019 for another outing, too. Wish they'd still be on the "every two years" trajectory they'd kept since the late 60s. Other franchises manage to do that, or at least it seems that way.

Timothy Dalton turned the role down for OHMSS? I thought production had considered him but decided not to because he was "too young." and that they'd cast him when he was older. Which they did.

Moore was definitely too old in Octopussy and A View to a Kill - you can just see how much he aged between For Your Eyes Only and those two movies. When he retired, he was pretty outspoken that Bond should be under 50.

If they make Bond a woman, the lesbianism would be very strange. As would a woman named James. They can't change the character's name or personality traits, so a female would still be seducing women. That's why the idea appalls me. They should instead have a separate franchise of a dominatrix spy seducing men - an entirely separate one where there's room for crossover.

They need to stay true to Fleming and keep the character as envisioned. Also, Idris Elba declined because he didn't want to be remembered as "the black Bond." And he's right - people only wanted him cast because he's black.

Yeah, Mark is indeed praying he or Elena wins HOH so Alex and Paul can be nominated like fans want to see. He's tried working people but has given up because most of them are dumb. He realizes that winning HOH is his ONLY chance at minimal fault of his own. It isn't like Steve's questionable move two years ago to allow a trio go to the final seven intact, which essentially forced him to win one of the next two HOHes. Had he not done so, he would not have won the game. In my mind, having your back already against the wall is way different than putting it there yourself.

Alex would probably go; if Alex wins Veto, the replacement nominee (Christmas) would instead. This is a good thing for Mark because he could argue to the sheeple that Paul survived because he had that many votes on his side - and that many people would use the Veto on him - and that nobody should trust his word about the contradicting F2/F3 deals he has with everyone.

If Mark or Elena does not win the DE HOH, I will stop paying attention to this and watch Australian Survivor 2017 instead.

This season feels like it could be the Redemption Island of BB.

Pretty apt comparison. The first four episodes of Redemption Island were absolutely fantastic, but aside from one blindside after that it was the most boring and predictable stretch of Survivor ever, with nobody having the testicular fortitude to stage a coup and production having a detrimental twist blocking any opportunity (Redemption Island instead of reward trips? What were they thinking?). While I do not believe Redemption Island to be the worst season of Survivor because of its phenomenal start, it still is a bottom-tier season on the whole because of its lack of casting serious players and instead giving us... Grant Mattos. As well as most of Zapatera.

Similarly, the pre-jury of BB19 has been a mostly entertaining array of drama, but after removing those with the audacity to challenge the veteran dominator, it has left us with a bunch of clueless non-players who blindly follow the veteran's mark (here, the beard as opposed to the Red Sox hat). On top of that, production has wanted Paul's success. Thus, it will be a boring and predictable remainder, and people will reminisce about the badness as opposed to the cannon shot that started it all.

Let us hope that BB20 is not South Pacific, which somehow managed to be even more unwatchable than Redemption Island.

Sounds like the insanity of being locked in a small space with the same people for three months is getting to him. People usually break before the halfway point, though. Remember the entire point of the show is to monitor people 24/7 and watch their descent into madness.

I do hope these hamsters go mad soon. It would be a nice change of pace to watch them all kill each other. Starting with DoorMatt not using the Veto on himself and getting evicted for being a moron. Btw, I tried to get "DoorMatt" to go viral on RHAP last night. I almost succeeded! xD

Schools are not strip clubs, so a dress code that abolishes distracting outfits is necessary. However, it should be cut down to this:
1. No shirt, no shoes, no school
2. Midriff must be covered properly; there must be no more than a two-inch gap between the shirt and the pant
3. Undergarments must be covered (a semi-transparent layer is fine)
4. Garments cannot contain anything sexually explicit, illegal (including alcohol consumption for the underage), or offensive
5. You may not wear gear supporting a rival school's athletic programs

That's it. The stupid "no hats" rule in particular needs to go. The dress code needs serious reform, but taking it away completely means guys can show up shirtless or girls can show up just wearing their bra. This is school, not the Big Brother house!

It tells you that the houseguests are idiots for thinking Mark using it is really a big deal.

Yes, that's exactly what I was asking about. They're complete morons for thinking Mark sparing himself from potential execution (in case of a flip) was a dumb idea. Marcellas wrote that part of the Big Brother Manifesto: If you win Veto and you're on the block, use the damn thing on yourself or you'll be evicted. Because he made one of the dumbest moves ever by NOT using it on himself and getting evicted by a conniving but brilliant manipulator, Danielle Reyes (so robbed).

But yeah, I'm with Squirrel... this cast SUCKS at the game. Jessica could've saved herself, but by ostracizing herself through disassociation and doing tricks with her fingers, she enlarged the target on herself leading to even Josh changing his mind as to who he wanted out. Instead, she and Cody should've copped a deal with Paul. "You know that once we're gone, you're the biggest threat here, right? You protect us this week and they'll keep coming for us. One of us is guaranteed to go before you and we accept that. And we promise that if we get HOH in the next 3-4 evictions, you're not going up." That would get Paul's attention. An offer for one of them to throw themselves on the sword for him if he protects them? AND an offer to not nominate him for three weeks (including a DE)? Music to his ears. But nope, Jessica only gave everyone reasons to get rid of her.

Raven is a piece of shit who plays the victim. If she breaks a nail, suddenly it's infected and someone needs to help her. Her entire life is a pity party and she's trying to get people to "feel bad for her" but, thankfully, it's no longer working because everyone else sees how one-note she is. She's like Danielle Murphree or Princess Victoria, but those two were feeds gold. Raven is not.

It's really Jess, Cody, and Raven that baffle me the most about how bad they are at the game. The rest of them... aren't much better. Multiple people have crashed and burned once they got nominated (Dominique, Elena) or ignore alliances entirely (Ramses). Since I'm team "fun feeds" I am enjoying the trainwreck, but I am missing that vested rooting interest in anyone. That is my issue. I like someone to get behind, y'know?

I say "Last year's" in regards to the one I am watching because some people say it's season one because "the actual first two are non-canon" and some say it's season three for the opposite reason. I don't want to get involved.

StormTR posted...
For as much as I would think that every Survivor episode should have a vote off in it, I'll admit that I'm fine with the first episode and the merge episode not having one because if the first vote off and merge vote off takes 2 episodes, then it lets you see a lot more about what leads to the result.

I'd rather the premiere and merge episodes be an hour and a half or two hours for the same reason. Not double episodes, but a 90- or 120-minute episode just to get to one boot.

But there's no reason to have something like this at the final six. They were building up so much strategy talk, only for it to all come crashing down because they did a reward challenge instead of voting people out. I'm impressed with how Matt is handling this. Sam is as clueless as always. Not only is he a douchebag, he's a terrible player. Matt... it took him way too long to wake up after being a sheep for so long. He was at Brooke's whims - he was 7th in "The Alliance" (would be voted out before Kristie, "a non-threat" lulz) but that changed when Brooke felt more threatened by Lee and El. He did nothing when two jurors told him that he was at the bottom of the alliance. His placement improving had nothing to do with his own actions but rather the fact that the others saw him as a goat. That is not how you win Survivor. Once the jury thinks you're a goat, you will always be one unless you leave your fingerprints all over a big move. And that might make you a "threat." Such complexities are why I love Survivor.

I'll watch the next season once I finish this one.

I rewatched most of the season a few weeks back, and when you know who wins, it is probably not as good as coming in cold. I would still recommend watching at least the final episode of the season though if you do decide to skip it - it's an impressive effort from all 3 in that final challenge and a really good final TC.

The merge episode convinced me to watch the one after it, so that's a good sign. But it needs to keep trending upward. I also get that coming in cold kind of ruins it. And I know more than just the winner. Kristie beats Lee in the final two. I'm also pretty sure Flick and El round out the final four, but don't tell me if I'm right or wrong on that. The merge episode did give me a few things I did not know about, like Nick finding an idol and, well... Saanapu starting to destroy itself, predictable as that was (they didn't go to Tribal, so they have to be aching to vote each other out). But will they get rid of the two Vavaus that aren't Kristie (Kate and Sue) before eating their own? I'll see what happens.

If Kate goes next, then a majority of my favorites will have gone pre-jury (Phoebe, Craig, and Andrew (part of that is him following me on Twitter and telling me "WATCH IT OR ELSE"), leaving only Flick, Nick, and Kate at the merge). Having only 2/6 of my favorites at the jury phase means my vested rooting interest becomes "blindside-fest please" since there wouldn't be enough interesting people left.
We shall see.

I will watch the finale regardless. Thanks for that recommendation.

Alright, that makes sense. When I tier stuff, items on the same tier tend to be closer together - if they weren't that close, I'd split the tiers. I would've understood it better that way and wouldn't have overreacted. But given how I've been bullied many times in my life, I have a strong dislike for victim-playing assholes like Raven (demean others, then play the victim) and victim-blamers like... pretty much all of the jerks. Since they were all in the same tier, I just assumed you were labeling Jody almost as bad as the others when they are clearly on defense right now. An "I still can't root for you, but you're better than them" tier would have gotten the message to me better.

I clearly misunderstood what you were going for. I apologize for my contributions to this misunderstanding and my ensuring overreaction.

Just because you're emotional doesn't mean you're absolved from your words and actions, or that I have to like how someone behaves when they're upset.

Likewise, just because I don't care much for Jess doesn't mean I'm taking the sides of the bullies, which you failed to understand.

I don't see you getting this so perhaps it's best to just drop it.

How do you feel when someone kicks you while you're down? We all have our ways of retaliating and dealing with being bullied, but it gets even worse when someone else decides to take advantage of your emotional state to demean you further. I empathize with Jessica wholeheartedly because I've been through what she's going through, and I empathize even more when people like yourself continue to attack her. I expected better of you, Naomi.

You are taking the sides of the bullies by putting her in the bottom tier. Do you not get that? You are no better than any of them.

I don't see YOU getting this. I suggest you look up "emotional intelligence."

Who wants to bet that neither of those dancing games is going to come stateside after DAN flopped?

also Laura Bailey better be back. I might tweet her so she knows about the possibility. If more people could do that, it'd be great - I don't want to get stuck with a horribly miscast Ashly Burch again. My ears hurt at the very thought...

I think the only reason anyone would feasibly go to such a turd would be to appreciate its badness. In other words, they hope to ascertain their feelings that it would fall into the "so bad it's good" category. However, with something this awful, many such individuals will rue spending money that would only serve to invalidate their hypothesis, as it turned out to be just bad.
