Ah, that makes sense.

As for Gracia, I used her a bit in SW2XL, but not for long. Most of my experience with her is in WO and that was enough for me lol

I may be wrong, but I believe I read that coop is only available for stages you've already beaten in Musou mode. As in, you can't go through the story together with someone. I may be wrong though.

Horse fighting has always sucked in musou games. Horses are for getting around.
Only exception was Gracia in SW2. Her horse move set was so damn overpowered (and her normal string on foot really bad). She just spams shooting fireballs from the saddle, lol
Gracia was so dumb. Her actual moveset was terrible, but she was extremely exploitable with her mounted attacks and corner trap bs in WO lol

The horse attacks vary a lot between weapon types. The game generally isn't built around mounted combat though.

The Great Spear in general is an incredible moveset with a crapton of range and a metric shit ton of damage.

That said, Honda is probably my least favorite user of the weapon. His second unique attack is really cool, but I don't find him quite as effective as Shingen and especially Toshiie.

Toshiie has the worst special attack(although it is cool looking), but his C6 unique attack absolutely shreds anything in his general vicinity.

All of the GS users get a kickass horse charge attack too.

Mitsuki is awkward to use at first and that seems to be a general consensus amongst most players.

The cannon is a fantastic moveset with excellent crowd control and pretty good damage. Just don't stick to the mode from his C4 for too long. That said, I'm familiar with Matsunaga and Magoichi's usage. I've played Nakamura maybe once or twice, so I can't quite vouch for him.

The regular spear feels like a weak moveset in general outside of Toshiimitsu's unique charge attacks. Katsuie also has a unique charge on the horse that's a pretty solid, but inefficient.

The hammer's an okay weapon. It's got some fun animations, but it's damage isn't quite as high as you'd think it is and as quite a bit of startup on a lot of it's attacks.

He's fun as hell to use. His damage is lower than the twin-swords, but he's very viable. Just gotta build him for the air.

His jump charge is a fantastic combo ender too.

I won't say he uses the naginata the same as the staff, but it's similar in that it's a fast and acrobatic(moreso) moveset.

They're light, fast-attacking weapons.

Of course they aren't going to hit like a great sword. Their DPS is still really good and arguably better than quite a few of the weapons when properly built.

Even when they're not built, they're not bad weapons. They're just on the weaker side, damage-wise.

The blacksmith takes a while to build up. There are gold weapons, but the ideal weapon you want is an empty 8-slot silver weapon. Those can drop, but you also get one automatically anytime you S-rank a weapon category with a character. It can be done for as many weapon types as you want for a single character. The actual weapon type you get is random, but that's a moot point given the crafting mechanic.

Also, if you're still focusing on Ieyasu, the dual-sword and naginata wielders are pretty low damage naturally. They can be deadly with the right builds, obviously, but their attack power is naturally low.

Haha, yup I made a topic there.

I was skeptic as hell about this game, so when I found myself genuinely enjoying 20+ hours in, imagine my surprise.

I took a small break, but I'm at 57 hours now. Just gotta do the last couple stages of Mitsuhide's story and most of the hypothetical route.

Then I'm gonna go rare weapon hunting and probably do some Nightmare runs.

Steams says 15.5 hours for me. Mostly finished Nobunaga's story, just some gaiden stages remaining. Mitsuhide I am in chapter 4. Hopefully it will answer some questions, Nobunaga story really does not build up the break between the two, it just suddenly goes to Honnojii.

Overall I like the gameplay and story, aside from some questionable choices.
I sort of thought the same. I'm on Chapter 4 of Mitsuhide's story and seeing his perspective of things does help a little bit.

It's still not on the level of storytelling that was in Spirit of Sanada.

Yep. Huge musou fan and I consider DW3 and SW2 to be the pinnacle of the series.

SW5 I feel is a pretty big leap in terms of gameplay with a small amount of changes that are surprisingly not that drastic. Everything feels balanced well for the first time in a long time.

The enemies don't just stand there and the artificial difficulty has taken a bit of a back seat. It's still there to an extent, but OHKOs being the only genuine threat are a thing of the past. In fact, there's hardly any OHKOs in the game unless your character is severely underleveled in regards to the difficulty you're playing on, much like in past games. Enemies are more aggressive and are constant threats to your health again.

I wouldn't put it on par with the best of the genre like DW3, SW2, and WO3U, but it's solidly in the upper half of the franchise and more importantly, gives me a positive outlook for future SW games. I haven't felt good about new Warriors games in a long, long time. Except for new release hype. I always fall victim to that.

Heck, I was actually pretty down on the game until release because I couldn't for the life of me figure out what Koei's marketing strategy was. Cut characters, low amount of movesets(and I'm more lenient on clones than most fans), redesigns(which I've grown to like).... But hey, NEW ARTSTYLE!!!

And yet, I'm completely happy with my purchase despite it being influenced by my penchant to impulse buy games from this series.

As for Warriors Orochi 4, it's basically WAS with the DW and SW cast. And the Ultimate upgrade was a complete ripoff. Considering what Ultimate did for the previous game, what we got this time around is a joke.

If I start suspecting he's drinking again, it will probably come to that.

As of right now, he seems pretty self-aware of the situation and has expressed the desire himself to stop.

He's planning on quitting cold turkey, starting immediately.

To further help things, he doesn't have his own car. Either my Dad or myself would have to lend him our keys for him to go anywhere and I doubt my Dad is intent on doing that again anytime soon.

As for myself, I can easily tell when he's been drinking even a little, and I plan on riding with him if I do let him drive somewhere.

He's living with us right now. We talked about some things last night and I laid it out pretty straightforward for him this morning.

He seems to be in the right frame of mind and he even suggested that I hold onto his bank card(I've got it in my wallet now).

I know he feels awful and the situation overall is not good, but as far as hard lessons go regarding drinking and driving, this should definitely the push he needs to change. Now I just have to see the long-term commitment from him.

In the end, maybe it'll be for the best that it all played out this way.

A few months ago, I made a topic about my best friend of over 20 years being an alcoholic. I got some good input and advice from this board, much of which I appreciate.

That said, he wasn't destructive or anything so I didn't have it in me to say something about it to him at the time. We're both on the wrong side of 25 and I didn't want to come across as being a third parent or anything.

Flash forward to now. He was passed out earlier and I sort of woke him up and just talked to him about general things a bit. He asked for my keys and I told him he was drunk and that he's not getting in my car. He wasn't all there, so of course he denied a bit, but that's pretty much where it ended. He didn't go anywhere, things were cool and I went to the other end of the house.

A few hours later, my Dad came home and I didn't feel it was necessary to tell him that my friend was drunk, because I thought it was obvious. Apparently not. He took my Dad's truck to the 7/11 around the corner and came back and destroyed a section of one of our walls pretty badly.

The good news is that no one was hurt either during the trip to and from the store or when the truck hit the house. That said, my parents are obviously and rightfully livid.

But personally, I'm worried as shit about him. I have no idea what his headspace is like half the time and I'm just praying that he doesn't hurt himself over this. I know he feels like garbage and I know he has every intention to make it right.

TL;DR
My friend has a drink problem. I should've said something ages ago and didn't. Things took a relatively bad turn(all things considered), and now I'm freakin' stressed out.

Anyways, I just wanted to vent and get this off my chest. I'm sorry for not following any of your guys' advice about approaching him months ago, and I really do want everyone to know I appreciate all of their input. And thank you for taking the time to read all of this if you did.
