The important thing to remember is that they need to want to fight the addiction, you can't force them to want to get better. You can give as much support as you can, but it just takes one bad day.

This is pretty much what I figured. I just don't want it to kill or seriously hurt him before it gets to that point.

He moved in with us to get away from the drama in the rest of his life(in another state no less), so I don't know if anything will really push him to that point. I can only see things continuing as they are. I can cut myself off completely to limit his intake, but as soon as he gets a job that won't matter.

This is breaking my heart and I have no idea how to handle it.

He's damn near drinking an entire bottle of hard liquor (whiskey, vodka mostly) every day and as soon as he starts, he'll whip through any beverage he can get his hands on. He's been quietly going through my stash as well. I'm not mad or anything, but the rate he's putting it all down is alarming. Just today he was plastered by 3 in the afternoon. Not that I haven't done the same, but for him it's becoming a pattern. And he's only moved in with us as of a couple weeks ago.

The thing is that he's not even destructive or anything like that. I don't want to come across like I'm not allowing him to be an adult or whatever. I'm just worried as hell. I don't know if I should go through his family or confront him directly. The thing about his family is that I don't know how much help they'll be, and I don't know how to go about approaching him about it. I've known the dude since we were in the 2nd grade and we're both on the wrong side of 25 nowadays. I just don't want to start something and make it worse.

They're just super comfy for me, for one thing. Like a nice warm blanket of hot water.

Also, for whatever reason the gears in my head start to turn more during a shower. It's easier to get lost in thought or daydream.
