Gen IV Fire is definitely the first time I was consciously aware that "wow, this typing just sucks this gen." Though, less from an aesthetic perspective and more of "I really need fire types and I have nothing."

____like are actually good terms though because it IS referring to a specific game. If a game is like Dark Souls then yes it's a Soulslike. Roguelikes often aren't actually like Rogue, but that's another issue (and the clarity of the term does mean that Roguelite became more common). You can have Simslikes, Mariolikes, WoWlikes, whatever. It's all pretty clear.

Metroidvania is the worst term because it obscures the meaning of SOTNlike. If a game is even tangentially related to Metroid or Castlevania, they call it Metroidvania. They treat it like a union of the two genres instead of an intersection.

officially as per like 2005 wikipedia entry conventions, metroidvanias are explicitly 2d platformers to differentiate it from zelda and 3d stuff (and castleroids/castloids are explicitly the term for igarashi's games circa sotn though i guess that term died a fiery death the moment igavania got coined instead)

It is a nebulous classification for sure. Anything with a semblance of open concept gets filed as a Metroidvania. But your only roadblocks are the path itself and what you can boil down to a glorified key for a glorified door, except often without the glorified part. Then there's DS3 that flies in the face of even that, so there's definitely at least some distinction between the two to be made.

Generally using mental illness is seen as moddable (we mod using Trump Derangement Syndrome as an insult for example). And to be honest with you, saying "seek help" and nothing else in response to a topic about star wars or whatever it was doesn't really scream sincerity - it's the kind of thing usually said to insult or annoy someone.

Like right at the start of FF7 Remake Cloud says to Barret "get help" knowing it would piss him off. It wasn't a severe suggestion that Barret see a therapist. It's a pretty common way of antagonising people. I get why you might think it but that post doesn't really come off in that "sincere" way.
