1945. US owned something like 3/4 of the world's gold reserves then (not sure on the number but it was a massive amount). It has been a downward trend since.

Another argument could be made from 1850-1910 or so when the US was giving away land in historic quantities to any citizen that would improve the land and live on it.

Now imagine all the boomers that bought sports cars from their part time jobs in high school and then bought nice houses after dropping out of school for literally any job.

I stayed the night with my parents last night for Christmas. My dad was telling me about one of his HS friends that bought a 69 GTO Judge in 1971 with his part time job. My dad had a 56 chevy and later an Austin Healy 3000 with the seats being fighter jet seats he bought at a the Boeing surplus store for like $20 a piece. All from his part time job at a country club.

My Grandpa bought his brand new construction Seattle house in 1970 for $18,000. He was a border patrol agent and was making $21k a year then.

I make ~2x the median salary of the area and my house was still 3x my salary for a dump that was a total fixer upper I bought.

Shits crazy.

I've owned a quadplex for 6 years, been using a property management company for 2 years.

If you do it all yourself basically take no risks on people. No pets, no past evictions, only high credit, etc.

Overall multi-unit properties give you a better bang for you buck than single family. If I get a job I'm wanting I'm selling my house, moving in with my parents and buying 6-20 units worth of housing out of the city.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Murray

Lee Brahim Murray-Lamrani is an English career criminal, drug dealer, convicted bank robber and former mixed martial arts fighter. He was sentenced to 10 years in jail in June 2010 for masterminding a 2006 53 million armed raid in Kent, England. His term was then extended to 25 years on 30 November 2010.

UFC president Dana White commented on Murray, that "He's a scary son of a bitch, and I don't mean fighterwise".

...

Murray amassed an 8-2-1 (1NC) record in smaller promotions before receiving a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In his UFC debut, he defeated Jorge Rivera by triangle choke/armbar in the first round. This was Murray's only fight in the UFC due to complications with his US visa as a result of ongoing criminal prosecution against him in the UK for assault, after he attacked a man during a road rage incident. This led to Murray signing with the Cage Rage promotion, which was also short-lived, due to injuries resulting from a stabbing, which prevented Murray from continuing his MMA career.

...

Witnesses claim Murray was involved in a scuffle with then-UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz outside a nightclub in London after UFC 38 in July 2002, in which Murray allegedly fought Ortiz. Murray asserts he knocked Ortiz out - a claim substantiated by Matt Hughes in his book "Made in America: The Most Dominant Champion in UFC History" (pg. 168), as well as Pat Miletich during an interview with ESPN. Tito Ortiz however denies he was knocked out. Chuck Liddell has also stated that he did not see Tito knocked unconscious.

On 28 September 2005, Murray was hospitalized after being stabbed in a brawl during the birthday party of British glamour model Lauren Pope. He suffered a punctured lung and a severed artery. According to the doctor who performed the life saving surgery on Murray, he was resuscitated four times during the operation that saved his life. When thanked, the doctor remarked that Lee should thank the nurses who ran the bags of blood from the blood bank, because that was what saved his life.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Securitas_depot_robbery

The Securitas depot robbery was the largest cash robbery in British history. It took place on the evening of 21 February 2006 from 18:30 GMT until the early hours of 22 February 2006. Several men abducted and threatened the family of the manager, tied up fourteen staff members and stole 53,116,760 in bank notes from a Securitas Cash Management Ltd depot in Vale Road, Tonbridge, Kent.

So it's okay to discriminate against a protected class as long as you're doing it for the right reason? That's objectively insane...

Read up on disparate impact, it might help clarify some stuff to you

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disparate_impact

in short, you can discriminate against members of a protected class for reasons other than their protected class status, but if your policy of discrimination adversely impacts a disproportionate number of a protected class, your discrimination may still be illegal.

for example, height is not inherently a protected class. But if you have a policy that to work for your business you need to be at least 5'10" but there isn't a need to be at least 5'10" to perform the duties of job, that could be considered discrimination against women who are less likely to be 5'10" so it disparately impacts them.
