The 3rd movie was so gimmicky with the 3D glasses. It was fun though. Each movie is kind of like an event and people in the theaters are generally rowdy.

It's a sloppy mess and I love it.

Yeah, at least the 3rd movie is still watchable at home without the 3D gimmick, they didn't overly rely on it.

But I agree it's like an event. It's always an experience going to the theater for a Jackass movie. There's a sense of camaraderie as we all watch the group we love do shit we never would lol

I have seen every Jackass movie in theaters on opening day with my brother and my best friend. There is no way I will be missing it, especially since Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O were both seriously injured during the filming.

Plus with the whole Bam drama, I'm interested in seeing how the movie turns out.

Same

It's funny, the 2nd and 3rd movies are both rated higher than the original. Doesn't happen often!

For example we have to accept a priori that minds other than our own exist. Nobody has a real problem doing that - we just all accept it. God is just the first mind.

Minds other than our own are obvious because we encounter other people who make their own choices; God is not encountered in this manner. And your argument seems to be assuming some concrete "mind" when in reality our minds and personalities are dependent upon conditional criteria; it's quite easy to alter someone's essential character. In fact I recall a story about a split-brain patient whose left hemisphere was atheist while the right was theistic.

Totentanz for me. Perhaps it's because the others have had so much exposure they don't hit as hard for me anymore, but I feel like the others have a sort of playfulness to them in spite of the gravitas of the music.

Totentanz just has a merciless death march that's like "the games are over, meet your destiny." Plus it was based on Dies Irae just like the Shining theme :)

Never ceases to amuse me how Christians regurgitate the mythos of their religion with absolute sincerity and conviction. I understand faith is an important aspect, but if something can only be accepted through faith that in itself demonstrates that the idea lacks evidentiary integrity to stand on its own.

Believe all you want, but don't act like the particulars of your faith are so obviously self-evident, because they're not. You are completely yielding yourself to an ancient book written by ancient men, a tome that is rife with inconsistencies, a fact acknowledged even by the most fervent of believers.

As important as your Bible may be to you on a personal level, it does not dictate reality. That's not how it works. And as self-assured as you are that your religion is "the right one," and as unconcerned as you are that a different religion may be right, that's exactly how a nonbeliever views your religion.

Embrace your religion if it helps you to be a better person, but at least have the dignity not to present it as if it's incontrovertible.

I believe God is an externalized representation of man's desire to improve himself. There are monsters among us, to be sure, but overall the human race is driven by an innate impulse to understand, advance and commodify. God is a useful avatar for this inherent drive.

Now, one may then ask: What causes that innate drive? May it not be argued that some ethereal power imbued humans with this innate drive?

Perhaps, but if so I imagine it is something quite dissimilar from anything our religions propound.

I was sold on the theory of the origin of time, a concept that the universe could not have come from nothing (even in a loop) ~ so, whether the answer is first mover and/or inherency of Forms, there is an extremely strong probably that God exists or that there is a grander purpose or method to the madness. Coupled with ~ gamblers principal. Better to risk a reign in heaven, than an eternity fallen from grace.

Over

Pascal's wager assumes Christianity is correct, and it also denigrates the very religion it supposedly champions by reducing faith to game theory. Alea iacta est, indeed.

A God creating a universe at least tells me where the universe came from. You can use the "What created God" argument as well but that's just another step to it. Its not a cold universe, you just think it is because you don't have a real answer about where it came from.

I'll take an easy answer over a non-answer

Look up the average temperature of the cosmos. It's a cold universe.

But at least you admit you're taking the easy choice. Most believers don't have that dignity.

The belief in God actually gives me answers for why we are here that nothing else can really fill. The belief that the universe came to be because a cosmic deity wanted there to be life, is a lot more satisfying answer, than the atheist belief the universe came to be out of an event no one witnessed and just happened, just because.

If one can accept the idea that something (God) had no cause, one can accept the idea that something else (the universe) had no cause. You just have a hard time doing that because a deity with intentions is more comforting than a cold universe. It's not more sensible. It's just easier.

Haven't made this treat in a long time.
Toast some bagels (I used an everything, a whole wheat and an apple cinnamon), melt butter and cream cheese together with some milk (I used Kerrygold and Philadelphia), then layer on some mini pepperoni and top that off with shredded cheddar. Nuke for about 2 minutes. Done.

This is almost sinfully good.
