Where is the 4 coming from?

The first movie has been abbreviated "ID4" pretty much since its inception

The musical score pales in comparison to the first film. The Harvester ship is orders of magnitude larger than the Mother Ship from the original, yet because of the effectiveness of the original musical score and how the ships are presented, the Mother Ship and City Destroyers in the first film feel bigger and have a greater sense of awe than the Harvester.

Probably best to speak with the manager first before confronting the worker.

In the original film, President Whitmore telepathically sees what the aliens are doing: they move from planet to planet, their whole civilization, consumingevery natural resource.

In Resurgence, this was retconned. It wasn't their whole civilization, just a small reconnaissance task force.

In the original film, the alien shields are strong enough to withstand a nuclear weapon. Even the smaller manned ships had their own shield that deflected all firepower including missiles.

Yet in Resurgence, the Harvester Queen, the most important being, has a shield that can be breached just by shooting at it a lot.

Ugh, such a disappointing sequel

ID4 for me. Predators at least have a code of honor. Xenomorphs are nasty but essentially mindless.

The Harvesters are technologically advanced, have no concern whatsoever for the species they exterminate, and are implied to be a literal universal threat.

I'm going with the Harvester Ship. That fucker dwarfed the Mother Ship from the first movie, and the Mother Ship was gargantuan by itself

Forgettable soundtrack. (Seriously the original movie had such an engrossing score, they could've literally copied it and I would've been fine with that).

No massive statue or memorial to Russell Casse? Seriously? The guy was arguably the biggest hero from the War of '96.

I don't what happened to Roland Emmerich in the intervening 20 years, but this felt like a cheap cash grab with no heart.

Even Goldblum just felt like Goldblum, rather than David Levinson.

Bill Pullman is the only actor who felt like a logical extension of his character

Jiren was regarded as the strongest mortal in the multiverse, even more powerful than his God of Destruction. He and Goku transcended the power level of the gods.

Now you've got more people in Goku's universe alone who are "even stronger," while Beerus of course remains a moving goalpost who can OHKO everyone. Ugh.

It's a great film and the sequel is a travesty

His insistence on reconciliation, preferring an olive branch over punitive retaliation, very well may have been the salve that prevented the wound from reopening. A vindictive President during that time would have further alienated the South and almost certainly would have sown the seeds of an inevitable relapse into warfare.
