Assuming a full time job, going from $7.25 to $15 is a $15,000 cost increase. This would be nothing to someone like Jeff Bezos, but the actual median business owner pay (not CEO, which is chosen by the board of directors and only exists in publicly traded, incorporated businesses) is $73,000. So the median American business owner can afford to upgrade the salaries of four employees from the old minimum wage to the new one; by the time they get to a fifth, their own take home pay will be negative. The takeaway from this napkin math is that the new minimum wage will already primarily be straining middle class businesses who will struggle to compete with wages from international-sized corporations that can very easily foot these costs (Amazon already pays $15!).
Someone who makes $73k by profiting off of the labor of 4 minimum wage workers maybe shouldn't be making $73k

They can do whatever they want. I'm not trusting a rushed vaccine just becuase of that.
This is based on existing technology that's been modified, it has numerous trials behind it proving its safety.
Most vaccines only take longer because there's a ton of waiting around and things are done in a more staggered order. This wasn't rushed in any way that would affect the viability of the vaccine, its testing was simply streamlined by running the tests in parallel rather than one after the other.
We make vaccines at this speed literally every year. A new flu vaccine is manufactured literally every year in the same, if not a shorter timespan. Scientists know what they're doing with this stuff.
You don't need to trust your own government. There are governments around the world with far better track records with science and covid-19 in particular, most of these vaccines aren't even going to the US first let alone manufactured in the US.

This is part of the problem, the mindset that any particular group is "superior" to another. An earnest desire to understand viewpoints not entirely aligning with your own is what's needed to bridge the gap between different groups.
The problem is that many viewpoints should not have bridges.
Why should someone who believes abortion is murder be ok with it being legal? Why should someone who views healthcare as a right be ok with people going bankrupt over easily preventable diseases? Why should someone who believes immigrants need to follow through the process and not jump the wall be ok with the Dreamers? Why should someone who believes the rich need to be taxed more be ok with more taxcuts that never trickle down to the needy?
Where do they bridge the gap on their morals and life experiences that are incompatible with the opposite?

Fuck off. "Politics" is what rights you believe should be extended to others, it's what you find to be morally right and wrong, what direction you want to see your town, state, country, and planet go in (and away from), it's who should benefit from finance laws, and the level of legitimacy we should extend to religious and scientific institutions - to mention just a few things.

These are deeply personal issues that get straight to the heart of "who you are" as a human being. A significant clash in political beliefs is very difficult to overcome in any adult relationship.

For shifting America's style of diplomacy -- look at Libya vs. Iraq as a model for international intervention (much more diplomacy led, bringing in other countries, including countries in the region, and much more low-key in terms of troop commitment, and casualties), and for his efforts with nuclear weapons (significant reductions in nuclear weapons as part of the New START treaty)

Everything is clunky about it.
Latinx is clearly not something you would interact with in Spanish, so it feels off.
Latino/a is Spanish which I hate using when speaking English (I really don't like Spanglish).
Hispanic feels like it has white colonial vestiges so it makes me feel bad to use it.
Spanish is the worst that people use, it's just the language we speak. Like, I'm Colombian -- don't call me Spanish.

We need something better, but that just makes me think of the xkcd comic.

So I actually took a couple responses in here and put them together and replied to his status

I'm sure approaching someone as a cop is insanely difficult. Id assume a lot of the time there is no formula for the best way to handle a situation, its probably pretty fluid. I'm sure you're probably being bombarded by people who think they know every nuance of the job, but actually dont, and it must be pretty frustrating.
The problem isn't about individual cops, and simply becoming one is not going to do anything to fix what people see as inherently broken system. Lets put it this way, if a school had a history of consistently passing fewer students than they fail, and a group of parents came out and said hey, something isnt right here...would an apt response from the school be its not our fault your student keeps failing, this is a hard job try becoming a teacher before you criticize us...no of course not. You may not be fit to be a good teacher, but you can see a problem when it exists.
People's lack of being able to do better doesnt mean they cant point out somethings off and needs to be fixed.

And he liked my comment (along with a couple other people) and he replied

I agree a lot with that and can see that, maybe I didnt have the best example. My issue with everything is people are making it out to sound like cops are just out here murdering people.

So maybe I was a bit too hard on him in the OP
