Swamp Thing is written by Snyder, the same guy writing Batman atm, and it is some really great stuff. You should check it out, especially if you end up liking Animal Man.

As for those others, I can help on DC stuff:

Earth 2 - The adventures of the Justice Society in an alternate world. Jay Garrik and Alan Scott have shown up so far. It's 2 issues in.
Dial H - This is something you just have to read for yourself, but an ordinary guy finds a telephone booth that lets him change into these crazy superheroes with awesome, unique, and oddly specific powers. Two issues in and I love it.
Batman Inc - This is a continuation of Morrison's Batman saga. Only read it if you've been keeping up with that or want to get into it.
Animal Man - Guy has animal powers, his daughter is also getting them, crazy horrific s*** starts happening. Very different tone from normal superhero books. Very, very good.
Demon Knights - Follows a bunch of DC characters in medieval times. Swords and sorcery. Has Etrigan the Demon, Xanadu, Vandal Savage, the Shining Knight, and other dudes. Fun book.
Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E - Frankenstein and a team of horror monsters go around generally being badasses, fighting the supernatural and stuff. Also a fun book, it's pretty over-the-top.

Or if you mean from an in-comic perspective, the character of Andrew Hussie is part of the story, and after he died he met Vriska in a dreambubble and proposed to her (probably influenced by the gag above). It's canon, too, since Vriska references it later after Tavrisprite happened.

I just took it as him doing some cleanup. If there can only be one "true" Juju (holy s*** that sounded ridiculous) then the "real" Cal has to be the one that Gamzee has that was prototyped to become Doc Scratch (and maybe LE in the process, since there's obviously a huge resemblance there), because obviously that's important.

The reference to being "born" I assumed he was talking about playing the game and causing ectobiology shenanigans, but I'm not entirely sold on that because it seems to me like a mislead. So who knows!

Also it's like none of you remember MGS3. It had all sorts of torture including rape and being stabbed by sticks.

The torture in MGS3 was literally fetish-ized (censor bypass, apparently) by one of the characters as a point to make it obvious how creepy as hell the whole thing was.

Tomb Raider's honestly makes me more uncomfortable just because it's sexualized more subtly and I honestly cannot tell if the devs intend it to be horrifying or sexy at times.

The difference is that the trailers (there's more than one) show stuff like that happening constantly, it's not just one scene. And then we have comments by the developers here where the purpose is that they want the player to want to protect Lara and cuddle her or whatever.

I'm not knocking the devs or the overall narrative, but it's very easy to see how that sort of stuff can make people uncomfortable and upset them. Hell, watching all that stuff makes me feel uncomfortable. Call it "grit" or "realism" but I just think what they've shown seems excessive.

Plus do we really need another anti-feminist circlejerk thread on the internet? I mean really now.

I can't be the only one seeing the parallels between this Tomb Raider reboot and Metroid: Other M, can I? Because Other M was basically Sakamoto taking a massive s*** on one of the few established strong female characters in video games and remaking her into a weak, passive woman who needed orders to so much as put her power suit on, and going off that interview that's pretty much what the Tomb Raider developers are going for here.

I mean I get that it's a reboot and things are going to change, but you're rebooting one of the most iconic characters in all of video games (leaving aside that she's female here). If Legend of Zelda was rebooted (like it is every new game ololol) and Link was remade as a weak character who gets smacked back down by fate every time he has the sheer brass balls to act like the hero of Hyrule, the outcry would be incredible.

Nah, the difference between Other M and Tomb Raider is that TR is supposed to show Lara becoming strong after weakness. But from the trailers it looks like they're taking that to ridiculous levels and having her scream and moan and get the crap beat out of her at every possible opportunity. It just looks excessive.

Other M just kind of ruined Samus's personality, forever. With Tomb Raider at least you can tell the point is for her to improve.

This whole chapter has been amazing to read but hell if I know what is going on.

The worst part about Gunnerkrigg is that there is SO MUCH CRAZY STUFF and we'll probably never figure it all out for years and years and years because the pacing is so slow.

This is why Tom needs to get into actual comics.

I don't know if Tom is one of them, but a lot of webcomic artists would laugh at that since they can appeal to a much wider audience and get more recognition through the internet than if they were published normally. I think GC is one of those things.

not having a computer for like a year means that the last album I actually listened to was AlterniaBound. so, uhh, anyone wanna give me the highlights?

All of them except Sburb and The Wanderers. Song of Skaia isn't actually an Album.

If you do skip The Wanderers (which isn't bad, just a little same-y), make sure you listen to Mayor Maynot at the very least. One of my favorite HS tracks ever, just because of how crazy it is.

But yeah most all of it is good. I didn't like The Medium, personally, just because it's ambient music. It was perfect when used in the comic, but it's not something I like listening to. I also wasn't sold on ColoUrs and Mayhem, particularly the B-sides, but other people seem to like them so whatever. Those two are the result of a music contest that the fans participated in, with tracks based on characters (although A-sides was...messy). So there's some good stuff in there, but most of it I found pretty bland.

Vol 7 and Mobius Trip are the best since then IMO.

From what I've heard, that bit at the end of Descend was never a song in the first place and Andrew asked him to make a full version for Jade: Enter, so Umbral Ultimatum IS the full version.

I could have sworn he mentioned it on his blog and even gave it a name at one point but I couldn't find it under the "music" tag and I'm sure not wading through 100 pages of Radiation rambling. Maybe I mistook it for something else but I was pretty sure when Umbral Ultimatum came out people assumed it was the full version and Radiation said no? Ugh I can't remember. Jesus H. Dick, Jade: Enter happened a little over a year and a half ago. :|

I have no idea what you mean by "all the possible DNA you'd ever need." That's not something that makes sense to me. <_< There was never a cell that had every possible type of every gene ever, if that's what you're asking. That's just impossible.

But if you're starting with a cell, obviously it has to have the basic instructions in place to keep it alive. How to take up food, get rid of waste, and most importantly, divide and copy its DNA for the next generation. Over time, mutations are going to happen, though, and that's how things change. The ones that change the DNA and the protein it makes without killing the organism are the ones that survive. Plus you can get more experimentation with stuff like chromosome duplication events. For example, you've got a cell that has one chromosome that contains all the stuff it needs to survive. Imagine if that entire thing were to duplicate. Now the cell has two working copies of every gene. That gives mutation a LOT of room to work, since as long as between the two chromosomes, there is a full set of working copies of the "base" genome, there's another copy that can mutate and make an entirely different product with a different function. So with that example, maybe it's easier for you to see how life became more complex.

Also a common misconception: Evolution =/= "improvement." Evolution is heritable change.

It is a direct bridge of sorts between the ending of ME2 and the beginning of ME3. The gameplay, however...is not very good. But if you want the full story for the setup of ME3 then go ahead.

Album release time is "whenever the hell they feel like it/get everything ready."

There have been a few times where they said it would be released one day and it was uploaded well past midnight on the next day.
