That's not what happened. The show was popular when she came out, but got cancelled because pretty much every story and punchline was about her being a lesbian, and ratings plummeted because it was boring.

The funniest/saddest part was they un-canceled after finding out he was a nepo-baby.

"Uncle" having allusions to Uncle Tom, which is generally derogatory. That's why they retconned it as Ben's Original.

His visual depiction has always been relatively positive though, even in the 1940s. As opposed to Aunt Jemima, which was both based directly on a minstrel song and was a caricature.

I don't care if it's petty, if someone has a blue checkmark on Twitter, they're usually getting blocked regardless of their opinion. It's not just used for increased visibility, it's also monetized. It's a grift.

Earthworm Jim was the only 3rd party mascot platformer I can remember that most people actually saw as groundbreaking. The sprite and character design hadn't been seen in anything before. It looked like a real cartoon.

Yeah, he was on staff on SNL, then he went out to LA for acting gigs. He was doing the same jobs, but it was still like starting over again. Hence bartending.

Plus most of them do either bartending or work as a waiter anyway. Like almost every actor who goes out to Hollywood end up doing that for awhile. Plus it was during the strikes.

Yeah, it's only desperate and pathetic if you go into like that. It should be viewed as a casual supplement to dating. If you view it as the last ditch effort to find a partner, you're in for a bad time.
