Every homeless person I've ever seen....spends their entire day at the same street corner. Standing out in the heat. In the cold. With their stereotypical cardboard sign with a message you can barely read on it. "Former military. Homeless. Please. Anything helps. God bless." etc.

But I can't help but notice that they have clothes on. Sometimes damn decent clothes too. Nice boots. Jeans without holes. They seem physically able. Some of them even seem to have recent haircuts, or evidence that they shaved within the week. Basic needs are being met somehow.

So why can't they get a job? Even if it's something as mundane as being a grounds keeper at a park or business? Don't have to "look" pretty. They can pay you under the table. Something. Get other homeless friends to split the difference to get a cheap apartment or trailer. Have an actual address. Open a checking account. Enable more employers to give you direct deposit. Bam. You aren't homeless anymore.

The problem isn't homelessness or even poverty. The problem is DRUG ADDICTION and DEPRESSION.

Money and time management.

Giving money to the homeless encourages the problem.

And this isn't even getting into the "homeless" people who have cell phones, new tattoos, piercings, cars, etc.

They aren't homeless. They just have zero ability to manage their finances.

Assuming the powers would allow me to survive the inevitable heart attack/panic attack/aneurysm I would probably have upon discovering I have these powers....(seriously, it would probably mess you up psychologically for a good while)......I would probably start by very timidly experimenting with my powers in a field somewhere.

I would probably be eager to tell other people, but wary that it would ruin their life to know I can do this kinda stuff.

I might actually want to hide from everyone for a good while.

But yeah, I'd definitely want to test my powers. My limits. My control over it all.

What can I do exactly? How easy is it to control? I wouldn't want to accidentally hurt people.

But yeah. After a while I'm sure I'd get comfortable with it. Probably euphoric.

And I would start by hunting down and murdering my exstepfather. Possibly torturing him first.

Then I'd move on to all the cartels in South America. All of them. Vaporized. It would probably only take a few days. Maybe wear a costume and talk with local police to aid in the destruction. If the cops want to shoot me on sight, let the bullets bounce off. I'd laugh at them and say, "Hey. Was just tryna do you a favor, bro." then fly off.

Then I'd go for ISIS. All of them. Snuff 'em all out. And all the pathetic terrorist cells that try to take over once ISIS is gone. I will be there waiting. Like a blade of sunlight.

Then I might move on to Somalian pirates and the violent gangs and death squads throughout.

Oh yeah. The power is definitely going to my head now. But it would just be so easy.

Weekend vacations where I'd just fly around and explore. Maybe find rare mineral deposits underground. Deep sea exploration. Weather warnings. Global satellite systems. military support/defense. I'd probably also make a great photographer. And an even bigger celebrity.

I wonder if they would kidnap my mom and try to hold her as collateral to "control" me or something. I wonder if she'd even get to live a normal life ever again.

I remember many years ago, an art teacher got in trouble for teaching a lesson about skin tone in paintings, and had each student in the class try to mix paint to get their exact shade of skin. Of course, no two kids in the class had the same skin color. It was a harmless lesson about skin tone variety, and how it isn't always "white" and "black". But ridiculous parents eager to be outraged...complained about it, and said the lesson was incredibly racist.

For all we know, the students whose backs she stood on, were class clowns who were EAGER to participate in the activity just for shock value. In urban schools, teachers often have to do something dramatic just to keep the students engaged. Make the lesson memorable.

I had a physics teacher in high school talk about gravity, and he said that if everyone in this class were wearing space suits and just floating around in space....everyone would slowly start drifting towards Steve. Steve was the largest kid in our class. The entire class burst out laughing, because we all knew Steve was notorious for being a big motherfucker.

Steve took it like a champ. Didn't care.

In 2018, Steve (or someone on his behalf) would have been triggered and cried to the principal for "body-shaming" Steve.....and the teacher would be fired the next day.

And what if the investigation reveals he's 100% innocent....but he doesn't get enough votes to win the seat on the Supreme Court simply because some voters still don't trust him? "There wouldn't be smoke without a fire."

That would mean the bullshit allegations still had a significant impact on a totally innocent man not getting a job he wanted. Is that "okay" in your world view?

Definitely. Most things in the world are a scam. Universities (or the education system in general) is no different.

Someone benefits, while many others suffer.

Universities are expensive as hell. Student loan debt is an actual crisis in America right now. And when you really step back and look at what you are getting for that debt...it's oftentimes not worth it.

You could just as easily borrow all your textbooks from a library and read them in the privacy of your own home for free, over the course of several months. Why need some overpaid professor to have you all sit down in a room and do the same thing for tens of thousands of dollars and write papers about the shit you just read? How is that any different? Honestly?

I'm sorry, I'm going to school to become a chemist. Can someone tell me why my first year of college REQUIRES me to take an english course I already took in high school? X amount of art credits. Math credits. And other redundant shit I've already done in high school? Can I just take the classes that actually count towards my major now?

As for your only real direct question to me that is even worth replying to:

"Regardless of time that has passed"? So, what, do rapists get a free pass if they don't get caught for 30 years? What if it's 20? 10? How long until the rapist gets his "get out of jail free" card? You said earlier in the topic that you thought rapists were scum who deserve to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. With that viewpoint, time shouldn't matter.

There isn't a single person here who thinks rape is a good thing. There isn't a single person here who thinks convicted rapists shouldn't face the full extent of the law and rot in prison for years/decades/life.

Anonymous sources shouldn't magically be making headlines. That isn't news. That's slander. Gossip. Click-baity character smearing. It's fake news. And, in my opinion, should be illegal. But to say that a woman's allegations against a man are not worthy of doubt or skepticism just because it's 2018 and it's only a "job interview".....is insulting to every man on the planet.

Such allegations are sue-worthy. This amount of unnecessary drama this has put him, his wife, and their children through, is just disgusting.

This whole thing has just been a calculated character smear. Conveniently timed to make voters quake in their boots and doubt his character.

It's not his job to prove he didn't do something. It's his accuser's job to prove that he did.

We should be critical and skeptical of her testimony, because it is about an event that happened sooooo long ago, and it's all conveniently timed to come out when Kavanaugh is up for the Supreme Court. Suspicious as hell.

Kavanaugh should be given the BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT until solid evidence comes forward to prove her allegations are factual. Which hasn't happened yet. Which might never happen. Innocent until proven guilty. That IS how our legal system should work.

This isn't a "job interview" he is dealing with. This is a witchhunt. An interrogation. A joke.

Believe me, if that was my intention my posts would be a lot shorter. There's no way I'd spend that much time putting together something that is, in essence, for looks.

What's your goal?

You started off just kinda fumbling with the burden of proof....and then you downgraded into nitpicking individual sentences from people to try and catch them slipping on arbitrary details.

My goal is to point out the power of allegations against men, regardless of evidence, regardless of time that has passed, and how the media runs with it for views.

It's the dangerous idea of being seen as guilty until proven innocent (which even the POTUS could see clear as day, and who has also been a victim of himself).

This situation is a very big deal, in my opinion, because it's testament to the climate we live in. And it's a climate that only benefits women.

She can accuse a man of anything. And then it's HIS job to clear his name.

That is beyond fucked up.

It is a disgusting side-effect of the #MeToo movement, which started off as an empowering movement with good intentions.....but degraded into a witchhunt.

And some people, like yourself, seem to think it's okay? Let them accuse a man of anything. Let the media slather headlines all over the planet that are clearly designed to question and destroy his character. It's totally okay. Because it's his job to prove the claims aren't true. Because "It's just a job interview!" after all.

I hope he sues Ford's ass. And I hope he gets the esteemed position he deserves.

They pretend to be offended by everything in a futile attempt to seem as though they are above everything.

In their crusade to end sexism, they are only highlighting how incredibly sexist they are. By accusing everyone around them of being homophobic or racist, they are only making it more obvious that it's just a smokescreen to not look homophobic or racist themselves.

It is the psychological epitome of a scapegoat. Put the burden of sin on someone else, so no one looks at how sinful YOU are. Divert the attention away from you.

Kinda like those men who attend women's marches with a big sign over their head that says, "RAPE IS EVIL!"

Not always, but the psychology checks out.

Some people want to keep in touch with their exes for a variety of reasons. Very few of them are actually good reasons.

Having been a very observant human for most of my life, allow me to list a few disgusting reasons I've noticed why people stay in touch with exes:

1.) They are NOT over them.
2.) They are over them, but also want to keep tabs on them to make sure they aren't as happy with their new person as they were with you. Or gauge the attractiveness of their next lover and how they stack up to you. Purely narcissistic reasons. (I've noticed that if a guy goes out with a girl who is significantly less attractive than his ex....this confuses the ever-living shit out of her....and she paradoxically want to get back with him.)
3.) Flirting and being silly apparently "doesn't count" with an ex. "We're just friends! It means nothing! We ended on good terms. We have a lot of history and we can't just shut each other out completely!"
4.) Plan B. Keep your ex on the backburner in case your current relationship doesn't work out. Sex with an ex is easy, convenient, and sometimes you are subconsciously angry at them for the relationship not working out, so now you can have angry hate sex....which is some of the best sex.
5.) Sometimes you just want to keep them in your life to remind them what they are missing out on.

Very rarely is it because you actually care about them as a person. It's almost always for selfish reasons.
