I'm playing through RE4R on Hardcore and while I am having fun, the difficulty is definitely taking away from it. The same applies to 2R; it's simply less fun as it gets harder. What is the point of higher difficulties if they make the game less fun?

Japan didn't surrender because they were holding out hope for the USSR to help negotiage their surrender. The USSR invaded 3 days after the first nuke was dropped (the date was agreed upon at Yalta, this was not the USSR being opportunistic), and Japan surrendered soon after.

The problem is that it wasnt supposed to be Resident Evil 3. It was a spin-off. Code Veronica was supposed to be the real Re3

RE3 was originally a spinoff called Resident Evil 1.9, and Code Veronica spun out of a failed Saturn port of RE2. The "real" RE3 was the HUNK cruise ship game, which stalled in development, so 1.9 was retooled into 3. The "real" RE3 at this point became the RE4 project, which spat out Haunting Ground and Devil May Cry before it settled on being RE4. If you want the "real" RE3, it's one of those games.
