This is the part that bothers me.

I feel like it should be possible to simultaneously support the men and women that serve our country, and also say that we don't need to outspend the combined efforts of the next 8 countries combined.

Why can't we have the biggest and best military by merely a wide margin, instead of by an obscene margin?

We could cut our military spending in half (not saying we should!) and still spend the most in the world. So maybe when we have to figure out how to fund important social programs at home we can spend a little less on the military. And we should be able to broach the subject without being painted as ungrateful and unpatriotic.

I slept in a lot today too (missed the first 2 ticks because of it) but I'm not sleepy at all so i'll be sticking around until i hit M at least. Possibly B as well.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy - Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped - Any%

Decent start to the marathon. Reasonable funny and amusing throughout, though it did start to drag very briefly at parts.

Ratchet & Clank - NG+

Very enjoyable and a lot of interesting tech. Not terribly long either, short and sweet.

Splatoon 2 - Any%

The couch was was more entertaining than the run itself. I enjoyed that they had someone from the localization team on the couch providing commentary that wasn't specific to speedrunning, and they all had a decent rapport. But as charmander said the execution was lacking at points. I suppose the game is only 7 months old, but this is a runner of the original Splatoon so I would have expected him to be sharper.

The point of that is not to say that everyone is awful and should feel bad. The point is to say that your thoughts matter and that god doesn't just care about your actions, but your motives for your actions. It's why it's better to be a poor person who donates a cherished quarter than to be an impossibly wealthy person who donates 10,000 dollars that they don't even care about.

And that's actually most closely conveyed in an OLD testament verse to begin with:

The thoughts you fill your mind with affect the words that you say and the actions you do.

But honestly Christianity is awesome. But the fact of the matter is that many Christians are not awesome, and you have hateful messages being spread by people who claim to be under the umbrella of Christianity. These hateful messages to not reflect the bible itself or the God that i serve, they reflect the prejudices of the humans saying them, as they twist the Word for their own purposes.

For the record im not even saying you have to agree. Just be a human capable of understanding that not everyone defines things the same way as you. Actually try to understand what others mean and then if you still don't agree then explain why not by simultaneously defending your definition and expressing that you at least fundamentally comprehend the other definition.

Maybe because other people are using the other definition and it would be asanine of you to "correct" them by pointing to a definition that is entirely irrelevant to the conversation they are having.

For example consider this theoretical conversation:

Other People: Yeah, really awful !!

Ulti: You mean to say that I fill you with awe? Im touched. Because as everyone knows the word "awful" circa 1700 mean to inspire to wonderment or awe.

Everyone: .....

Or you could not be intentionally dense about it and actually participate in the conversation by understanding what other people mean when they use a word with more than one possible definition.

Gender as in gender roles is not same gender as in physical sex.

I know that's confusing but words can mean different things. So maybe stop being thick and consider that maybe other people use the word in a different way and that doesn't make them inherently wrong.

ARQ was a 2016 Netflix original that really surprised me.

I have like a whole list, but the ones I mentioned before are what I consider to be the high end. (Oh, along with Edge of Tomorrow but I'm pretty sure that reached blockbuster status so everyone knows that one.)

Ill watch ARQ tomorrow and id be interested in anything else in the same vein even if its not quite as polished as the rest.

I have seen and love all of these movies except ARQ. Which i have not seen but will undoubtedly love of its in the same category as the rest. I don't even consider them guilty pleasures but legitimately interesting and good movies.

Kevin Spacey has multiple accusers of assaulting behavior. He has much more corroboration regarding much more damning actions.

Aziz has a situation that is borderline at best and in my opinion doesn't cross the line into sexual assault. And that assumes everything happened exactly as this woman claims.

I don't think you are wrong about the aziz situation.

I think you are particularly shitty when it comes to being right about something though.

Also this is a situation that has some subjectivity to it so even if you don't think the story constitutes sexual assault (and neither do i) there exists the possibility that other people have drawn a completely different line in the sand about what isn't acceptable.

If there are more women that have things to say about aziz's behavior then i might change what i think about him.... but to me this sounds like she reluctantly consented to various behaviors.

Wow that is a doozy.

From an outside perspective based on what you've said it sounds like the direct approach might not work too well. Even still it sounds like your attempts at directness have been overly polite.

So a direct conversation to the tune of "ill work with you as required in a profession environment but I don't want to interact with you other than that" would be my suggestion. Its important to say that you don't want to rather than you don't 'think it's such a good idea' because that leaves more room for interpretation. People do things they don't think are good ideas all the time, but not stuff they don't want to do.

If that works then that saves you having to do anything else with regard to the theaters. And if it makes things worse then you will have better grounds with which to approach the theaters and explain why you and her working on a production together should be avoided.

That's how it looks to me anyways. :/

Metroid Prime 3 was a difficult watch. They had a joke about how the motion controls created "immersion" but they beat all the immersion jokes to death, and then beyond death for good measure.
