Thunderbirds is a popular marionette TV series from the 60s.
The first episode was originally 25 minutes, but after seeing it the producers decided that it needed to be 50 minutes.
They could only produce 3 minutes at a good day, so they built multiple sets to be able to produce more sequences faster.
This turned it into the most expensive TV series at its time.
After its first season of 26 episodes, they decided to produce a full feature movie at the same time as the second season.
It was a success in over 50 countries, but they couldnt find any American publisher.
They felt that they couldnt continue without American support, so season 2 was cancelled after 6 episodes and a movie. A second movie was made some years later.
Reruns were always popular, and one in the early 90s was extra popular, with talk about a liveaction movie.
ITC Entertainment decided to ride that popular wave and bought the rights for an American adaption that they gave to Fox Kids in 94.
Fox kids cut it down to 20 minutes per episode, killing character development, because they thought kids couldnt concentrate longer.
All deaths, injuries and smoking got censored. Some stories got totally rewritten.
They used 4 voice actors that didnt change anything between characters. One character had two different voices in the same episode. It felt rushed.
14 episodes were made, only 7 aired... once!
Some episodes got a VHS release... with a different voice work. Same actors reading the same script more professionally.
ITC didnt give up after the failure, and decided to copy what kids looked at at the time... Power Rangers!
Turbocharged Thunderbirds had two cool liveaction teenagers in a space station discover Thunder Planet, where they communicated with and helped the Thunderbirds team fight the evil CGI villain.
It was... bad. At least they aired all 13 episodes. Strangely it got a rerun in Japan in the late 2000.

Storforsen (English: great whitewater rapid) was the most impressive rapids in Sweden with a total fall height of about 35 meters (115 feet).
In the late 18th century, logging was economically important in that region of Sweden, but the problem was that the rapid drop was full of projecting rocks and big eddy potholes, which destroyed the logs.
So they tried to build a canal, multiple times. In the end, a guy called the Wild Huss took over the job.
It went well until a day in 1976 when the water pressure broke some walls and flooded the canal, causing Sweden's largest environmental disasters.
It drained a lake, rereouted a river, destroyed homes, farms, mills and a fishing industry, and strangely nobody died. The rapid disappeared and the place is now called Dead Fall.
Wild Huss would later drown, and the legend says that it was caused by a mob of angry farmers and fishers that wanted revenge.

Let me tell you about Julmust.
You know how Coca Cola pretty much owns Christmas and how everybody drinks Coca Cola then?
Thats not how it works in Sweden...
To really understand, we have to go back in time, long before 1900...
Swedes back then were mostly alcoholics. They worked hard and just got enough food to not starve to death. To prevent riots, a part of the salary was paid as alcohol, which the workers drank to forget their hard life. Around Christmas, they got some more, and better food, as a bonus. But the most important thing was the Christmas Beer. It was a dark porter that tasted so much better than the cheap alcohol they were used to, and they looked forward to it the whole year. And if you served them something of lower quality... well, you had to be lucky to get away alive.
Forward in time to the 1920s. People got better paid, they were not paid in alcohol, but instead they bought their own alcohol. And dark Christmas Beer was something you just had to have.
At this time, a Swede named Harry Roberts owned a brewery, and the Christmas Beer was the best selling product. He had heard of a alcoholfree beer called Must in Germany and decided to investigate it. He liked it and bought it, started to produce it. It didnt sell that well.
Then suddenly the Swedish Government had a big vote about prohibition. It was pretty close, but in the end the No-side barely won. It did however result in stricter alcohol laws, like forbidden high alcoholic beer. The sales of Must raised, and it was advertised as an alcoholfree alternative. It started to replace Christmas Beer and got called JulMust (Christmas Must).
Roberts couldnt handle the demand, so he started to produce a concentrate that he sold to other companies, so they could sell their own Julmust.
Forward in time. Pripps was a major brewery at the time and they got the license to produce and sell Coca Cola in Sweden. Just like Roberts, Coca Cola sells the license to produce Coca Cola and the secret concentrate to local breweries, because it is costly to build new ones in different countries.
In the 90s, they started to look at the sales figures and saw a strange pattern. Sales in December always dropped 50% or more, when it was supposed to raise.
So they contacted Pripps and asked what the heck was going on.
People are drinking Julmust in December, all other soda sales are dropped 50% or more.
This made Coca Cola really worried, and they started to demand Pripps to start big advertisement campaigns.
Are you drunk? We earn more on Julmust sales in December than what we do on Coca Cola sales the whole year, there is no way in hell that we are giving up on that!
So Coca Cola decided to cancel the contract they had with Pripps and built their own factories in Sweden, and started massive advertisement campaigns to make Swedes drink more Coca Cola in December.
They failed.
They even tried to launch their own Julmust, but that failed as well.

The show lays him on kinda thick in season 1, but season 1 overall is in this really weird limbo of being stuck in old TOS writing sensibilities while trying to evolve into something contemporary. The way Patrick Stewart got the role is pretty nice, at that time he was pretty much "only a British Shakespeare guy".
Gene and Robert Justman (producer) had pretty much nailed the cast, with the exception of Picard. With the words of Justman:

My wife and I were taking a course at UCLA on humour. In the arts. Tonights lecture was to be a reading by two people one was Patrick Stewart.
He came out with the lady and they were proceeded to do some Shakespeare. And he read his first line and I went crazy. I turned to my wife I said I think Ive found our new captain.
We met at Gene Roddenberrys house, Patrick pulled up in his rental car and we spent about 45 minutes together, talking. We watched Patrick drive away in his rental car to go to the airport and Gene closed the door, turned around, faced me and said, and I quote, I wont have him.
He wouldnt have him and he wouldnt tell me why. But I know why. I knew why. I knew that he had conceived of a Frenchman. And, you know, who was masculine, virile, and had a lot of hair. And Patrick didnt fit that at all. Patrick was not so handsome, he was distinctive, and he was quite bald. Quite bald.
I was hot to trot. I was very, very enthused about Patrick playing the role. And I kept after Gene and Gene kept fighting me off until one day we had a new producer come on the scene, and that was Rick [Berman]. Rick saw Patricks film and fell in love with him. As did our casting director. So the three of us were allied in the fight to get Patrick as the captain. And Gene was allied in his own fight not to have him at all. So finally I realised that the more I pushed, the more he dug his heels in.
I made an announcement, one day, in a meeting when the subject was brought up and I said I dont want to hear the name Patrick Stewart ever again. Its over with Patrick Stewart, forget him. I did that on purpose to make Gene think that Id given up.
And every time anyone mentioned Patrick Stewarts name to me, I would explode and say I dont want to hear that. Dont tell me Patrick Stewart any more. Finally our last possible candidate came to audition for us. And the guy, whoever he was, read for us and talked with us and he left the room, the door closed and we were all silent. There was not a sound to be heard. And finally Gene Roddenberry heaved a big sigh. He said All right, Ill go with Patrick.
