The most a CPU will be "good" for is really about 5 years, then it will begin holding back your other hardware, even a high end CPU. For the use case you specified, the best deals are the Ryzen 5 1600AF(make sure it's AF). $85 6 core 12 thread 12nm instead of the original 14nm or the Ryzen 3 3300X 4 core 8 thread based on their current CPU architecture. 5 years from today they will sell a processor for $100 that blows the current listed processors away from all angles. --- It's not the end of the world, but we can see it from here. |
