Assuming Sceptile is on the money with the other 3 scenarios, I'm surprised it's that much of a jump when adding in the focus symbols. I know it bumps up a single attack dice's chance to hit to 75%, while a single defense dice's chance to evade only goes to 62.5%, but a 20%+ bump is significant. Also glad to know that my hunch about simply adding a dice to both sides has minimal effect (which I guess is common sense but hey, if I were sure about this stuff I'd have done it myself right?) Thank you guys so much.

Wait, you wanted to count the focuses for defense too? I didn't do that. Easy to change if so.

Aha, and there's the discrepancy. Yes, focuses on defense dice count as evades for the scenarios that call for it.

It's not really relevant for the purpose of this calculation, but in the game you have to cancel all hits before you can cancel crits. IE if you roll 2 hits and a crit, and your opponent rolls 2 evades, they have to cancel the hits and take the crit. But if you only roll 1 hit and a crit, and they roll 2 evades, then yes the crit gets canceled.

Hello all, I'm trying to find out the probabilities of certain outcomes in this X-wing Miniatures game I play, so I'm hoping someone who's good at calculating this sort of thing can figure out the following for me:

The parameters:
There are 2 types of dice, attack and defense. Both are D8's, with the following sides:
Attack: 3 hit symbols, 1 crit symbol, 2 focus symbols, 2 blank symbols
Defense: 3 evade symbols, 2 focus symbols, 3 blank symbols
Hits and crits are 1 damage each, evade symbols cancel 1 hit each. Any hits/crits left uncanceled are 1 damage per dice. Blanks do nothing. Focuses are variable (explained below). For the purposes of these scenarios, crits are basically just hits.

Scenario 1:
If I roll 3 attack dice, and my opponent rolls 2 defense dice, what are the odds of dealing at least 1 damage? Please count "focus" symbols as "blank" symbols.

Scenario 2: The above, but 4 attack dice vs 3 defense dice.

Scenario 3: 3 attack dice vs 2 defense dice. Please count "focus" symbols as "hits" for attack and "evades" for defense.

Scenario 4: The above, but 4 attack dice vs 3 defense dice.

Or if you don't want to actually do the math, if you can tell me what the formulas would be here I can also follow those instructions and calculate it myself. Thank you!

I'm sure his ability is already set and everything but I think a cool thing to do for UI goku would be like, give him an attack boost the more Ki he has, and give him an evasion chance that gets higher the fewer ki he has, to reflect how in the anime so far he doesn't really understand how to use attack and defense in unison yet, he kind of has to switch.

Is 7 seconds enough time to react even? I mean the things that would have to happen for it to not be coincidence would be:
Eaed would have to be sitting at his computer just mashing refresh, for who knows how long.
He'd have to immediately notice the notification from a tracked topic, have near instant page loading, take precious seconds to scroll to the bottom of the page to type his vote, take a second to mouse over to the post new message button and click it...I mean I get why you'd be suspicious but it just doesn't seem feasible.

Edit: I should be clear here, I am in favor of the 2 game susp in a vacuum. Harsher punishment for unnecessary stuff like this is good imo. But I would rather them be consistent. There's now no question that Gronk's suspension was a sham because of the game yesterday and they wanted him back for it. It's just a joke.

All in all, I usually tend to go against the party who issues the "It's me or him" ultimatum. I feel that such an action usually represents an unreasonable selfishness. However, in this particular case, despite all XIII has done for UCA over the years, the fact is that leadership was handed over, and that Eaed and Tom have led UCA through some of it's roughest times. So I don't think they're being unreasonable by resisting change at all. Being who you are can only give you so much room to operate outside of the normal rules, at some point you have to be just like everyone else. Regardless of what either party thought walking away from that message, Eaed and Tom took over and XIII was nowhere to be seen, and refer to my third point for my thoughts on what I took the message to mean. I am in favor of them keeping leadership.

Here are my thoughts now that XIII has made his argument, while still taking tom/eaed's side into account. The following are not all necessarily things that either side has accused the other of, I just think it's easier to keep track of to keep it in bullet points because I get sidetracked in arguments very easily:

- I do not believe that XIII is coming back just because we're nearing the end being the sole reason; I believe him when he said that real-life circumstances led him to give leadership up back then. However, it does strike me as a little too coincidental that he wants it back now. Even if it's not what XIII intended to happen, I do think that this being the final run does at least have SOMETHING to do with it.

- I do not think XIII's argument, that "this last part of UCA will be difficult to navigate and therefore Eaed/Tom have no business accusing me of just wanting to come back for the good part" has any merit here. I believe that for all 3 involved, Eaed, Tom, and XIII, that being the ones to lead UCA to its final moments would be an extraordinary honor, regardless of the difficulty. I know it would be for XIII, and I think that eaed/tom getting so up in arms about it proves it for them as well. Therefore, even if it is difficult, that still doesn't mean that this last run isn't "the good part," because it is.

- I am leaning toward's eaed's viewpoint on the discord message, if the extra things he added on later are true. I know XIII was referred to as vince, as far as being the one you can consult, but nowhere in there do I see a future implication of taking back full control. I got more of a vibe of "I'll always be here if you need me for something." Furthermore, the "extra things" I mentioned, about that being the last time they spoke in private between then and now, I'm with Eaed that that would make it seem like "okay you said you're basically done, I guess now you're really done."

- I think it lends credence to Eaed/Tom's concerns that XIII is out for himself that (and I admit I am a little fuzzy on the exact timing of this) sometime after the end was declared, XIII basically said "I want the LW title" despite being one of if not the greatest UCA participant of all time (AKA overqualified), and he got it. I think they already made a huge exception for him BECAUSE of who he is, and how much it meant to him to "complete his collection." It comes off as the Lakers letting Kobe Bryant shoot a bazillion times in his final game, which I wasn't a fan of, but hey, like Kobe, XIII is one of, if not the greatest, at his craft, so on some level he earned it. He earned being above the game for a while. But for XIII to have done that and then say "that's not enough, give me more (the admin-ship)" seems...greedy.

- I do wish that all 3 of you guys could get along, and, because all my points have been against XIII so far, one for XIII is that he seems completely willing to work together and Tom/Eaed do not. Eaed seems more on the belief that XIII is being selfish, while Tom fears he would be reduced to a mere pawn in the game. What would happen, I cannot say, but I do at least give XIII a point there for being willing to work together, assuming it wasn't a mere front (I don't believe it was.) And that is actually really big for me because I hate that this is happening as it is, I hate that it's come to "it's me or him." (cont)

As much as I would like to stick up for my boy eaed, I think it would be better for me personally to wait and hear XIII's side of it, if we're getting one. Being one of, if not the newest member on the roster, I've been under Eaed/Tom administration almost, if not completely, for the time that I've been here, and therefore lack proper perspective to be able to answer a question of this magnitude. All I can go on is what everyone else says, and draw my own conclusions from there, and I don't want to do that until I get a full view. I think Eaed and Tom make very valid points, but would like to hear from XIII and/or people who are familiar with what XIII's thinking and see if they can counter those points and tell us why he thinks he should get the administration back.
