Tyson doesn't know the first thing about MMA. He would get taken to the ground and ground and pounded to death, choked out whatever. I mean he may get lucky and score a lucky knockout right away, but that is completely what he would rely on. The guy was not even that good at getting out of clinches in boxing, none the less a MMA clinch. I just feel the moment he starts getting grappled it is over for him and he is going to get grappled because he is a short fighter that needs to get in close to land punches.

I have questions, is it pure boxing? Because I just watched his match from this year, and he'd still fuck me up in a boxing match.

If it's just a fight, I'd win. He is a 50 something year old man who I have weight and height on. I'd cover my head rush in and take him down. I've been in the game long enough to finish him with grappling.

I'd even say I have a moderate to fair chance if kicks are allowed. It's much closer if it stays striking only, but as long as it isn't pure boxing I'd say the risk reward ratio is worth it.

EDIT: if it wasn't to the death I'd take the fight for any amount of money, to the death, though, I need either kicks allowed or MMA style to even consider it.
That is true. If UFC is anything to go by, most boxers have terrible grapple skills and usually lose to grapplers. I would imagine a fight to death would have no rules, outside of a lack of weapons, so you probably can be pretty effective if you are good at grappling.

Yeah, he could've. It is called eyesight. You can't just utilize lethal force without first assessing them as a immediate threat to the safety of yourself or others. All because there is a riot going on outside does not give you carte blanche authority to fire upon people. By that logic it would've been perfectly ok for the police to fire upon the BLM rioters with live ammo or even other people from the January 6th riot. It was pretty much a extrajudicial killing, as all inquiries into the shooting where completely dropped without investigation. It is easy to overlook it given the person he shooting, but there was no way it was justified in a legal sense.

the weapons are more concerning, but thats on us.

I would be interested to know where The Times got their information from though.
I have been seeing this float around. It says the GAO, but the only GAO report I found was weapons we gave the Afghan government from 2006 and onwards, which has numbers that align with this report, so they are assuming all material given to the Afghan government was captured, which is somewhat reasonable excluding depreciation. I mean, the small arms, body armor and nvgs are probably intact, but I am sure most of the vehicles given are non operational now, so the numbers are not perfect. Regardless, the Taliban should have enough supplies to solidify thier rule, which might have been the plan to start

There is zero context at all for the video. I don't know when this was, where this was or what transpired before and after the video. Heck, there is even some question whether this could happen even be Kyle (probably can be confirmed by vocal analysis). This is just an out of context clip, so I don't know how you can say they weren't shoplifters or are for that matter. That is why I said "supposed shoplifters". Not that it matters the clip does not relate to the case well. We have to know the mindset of Kyle at the time of the alleged murders and whether it was justified self defence. I don't think this proves much outside of the prosecutor grasping at straws.

Even ignoring its dubious sourcing and that is quite a thing to ignore from an unsourced video with a disembodied narrator. the video is nothing but insinuation anyways and means nothing. Kyle could be just trying to look like a tough guy. Saying that he was thinking about killing the supposed shoplifters if he had an AR is pure speculation and the court of law relies on evidence not innuendo.

Because there are no other forms of pressure that China could exert on Taiwan to make to buckle, short of a massive, devastating invasion?
They have been trying the diplomatic solution to put pressure on Taiwan for many years, but it hasn't worked. Ultimately, keeping Taiwan around is pretty dangerous for China, since they have a strong claim over China and therefore are a rival to power. While PR has largely stopped them from invasion, the success of Hong Kong most likely showed China that they can be aggressive and brutal to at least people around their own region and still not endanger foreign relations, so to me an attack on Taiwan is inevitable.

I wonder how much that property is the US property and much is the Afghan armies property. I mean, all the aircraft is for the Afghan army (although, it is useless to the Taliban) and most of the M4s that the taliban soilders are carrying around look very new, almost like they never were used, which makes me think that they got them from a Afghan army stockpile, since the US ones are much more used typically. It would be hard to preemptly destroy the Afghan army stockpiles if you thought they where a going concern, which our intelligence community thought even as far back as early August, since we sent the Afghans a few blackhawks around that time.

streamofthesky posted...
Yup. Should've gone in, wrecked their shit, hunted Osama to the ends of the earth instead of letting him get away, wipe out the Taliban leaders that aided him, then said, "if you ever fuck with us again, we'll be back and it'll be even worse." And then left.
We even F-ed up on that part of the war. We had Osama in our sights 3 times, but since the US military is such a bureaucratic nightmare the ground troops where not authorized to attack him. Instead, they had to wait around for hours for the special forces to be briefed and arrive, which of course gave Bin Laden time to escape. So, Bin Laden escaping the biggest man hunt in history had less to do with him being the nephew of Harry Houdini, but rather our military being grossly incompetant. It was a similar thing with Sadam, until he decided to stay in one area.

Picard. Patrick Stewart pretty much carries that show. The only actor that is even close in TNG is Brett Steiner, but ultimately Data is not going to tie everything together like Picard does.

DS9 had much better acting crew and characters in general, so it fell less on the captain to be good. Sisko is decent, but not mind blowing.

Janeway is an idiot for stranding the crew and makes consistently awful decisions and is just an inconsistent character. Ultimately, it does not matter, since the show becomes the Seven of Nine & Hologram Doctor show anyways and those characters kick ass.

Archer is an idiot, but not even an entertaining one like Janeway. Plus T'pol is an obnoxious mother hen that orbits him like a bad case of herpes, taking the fun out of every scene, so he also has that to contend with that as well. I did like his interactions with Shran though, but Enterprise needed a lot more.

It kind of screwed up the narrative that it was the Republican anti-maskers in red states that were driving up the US death rate (not saying that they aren't other variables at play, but that is the way the stats fell), so was a major embarrassment for the Democrats, so someone had to fall on their sword for their failure.
