I don't know if I would go that far but, yea, it is clearly the worst of the series.

Everything is just so linear and laid out for you that it is almost impossible to discover "new things" when replaying the game. The only reason to replay is to acquire different "kill methods" that you didn't before, and even then it is only small variations on the path.

The newer trilogy is so much better in every way. There are less levels in each game, sure, but each level has so many options that you can play them a dozen times each and still not see every possible thing there is to see. And the game rewards you so much for replay by giving you different load-outs, new starting locations, new challenges, etc.

Can't remember exactly how long, but it has been well over 9 years. Closer to 15 at this point.

Kind of surprising to me, but from what I have heard, most of the universities in Ukraine teach their classes in English. So if you expect to get a higher education it is almost a requirement that you speak fluent English. Plus a lot of them are taught English in "grade school".

I don't hate Square Enix for any of their corporate policies. I am annoyed that they wanted to get into the PC market but for the most part do so by porting mobile games over or essentially just running them in emulators. But compared to the likes of EA, Activision Blizzard, Epic, and Ubisoft, they are god damned saints.

That said, the majority of the games don't interest me that much. Final Fantasy XV is probably the most fun I have had with one of their games in years (excluding Hitman, but IO Interactive were all but gone by the time that came out). Even then, I can't say it was a favorite by any means.

Never been on an actual jury though, but all 4 were different kinds of courts.

1) Town court (which sucks BTW because there is no lottery, you have to show up no matter what and it is always done at night). It was for 2 DWI cases, both of which settled about half an hour after I showed up.
2) County court, but my number was in the 700's, and they usually pick their jury before getting to the 300's, so I didn't get called in.
3) District court, this one sucks (not as much as Town though) because you are basically "on call" for 3 months. Thankfully, I never had to go in.
4) Grand jury, didn't have much experience with this one because covid happened just after I got the notice, so they ended up canceling it.

Hoping they got it all out of their system and I don't get a notice again.

It should stick around so people don't have to make that consideration, but a whole lot of companies don't trust their employees to get work done without somebody hovering over them, so they resist the idea. Having fewer people commuting everyday would be overwhelmingly a good thing in pretty much every way, but corporate America isn't exactly big on changing to benefit others.

It is funny because my office is fully embracing the remote work.

I won't name the company (it is not a "big tech", but is a multi-billion dollar company), but they had 12 offices in my city (and one in India) pre-covid. Now they have closed all the rented office space, and are in the process of closing a few of the offices they actually own. Technology (which is the biggest department of the company) is only going to have two office buildings, when they originally had 6. My team is the first 100% remote team, as all of our members are located in different cities/states. They even opened up the hiring process to across the country with the expectation that all new Software Engineers are going to be fully remote.

In 2008 one of my friends in college was posting on B8 during class, and I started posting on B8 before I moved onto PotD because I didn't like how B8 was focused on contests.

Similar, but it was 2005 and I was bored at work so I entered the contest and started posting in B8. Then after the contest I got tired of B8 and went to their "rival" PotD (back when people cared about such things).

I make my mac and cheese like 50% hot sauce. Real mac and cheese doesn't actually work with that, but Kraft does.

Although I usually do that because Kraft mac and cheese has like no flavor.

On the one hand, pre-covid I probably would have cared because I was driving 30 miles a day. Now that I work entirely from home and I drive 20 miles per week at most (some weeks I barely go over 5 miles) it doesn't bother me as much.

On the other hand, I also understand that an increase in the price of gas increases the price of all goods, so I know I will be feeling it eventually.

Everything except Virtual Boy (I rented one from Blockbuster and didn't like it), Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. I even owned two versions of the original Game Boy (fat and pocket), and a 2DS (which I replaced with a New 3DS XL when the Samus Returns version came out).

I also have the Mario and Zelda Game & Watches that came out last year if those count.

Only child. I joked with my dad that he knocked up his last girlfriend given how much she was trying to contact him after they broke up, but as far as I know she wasn't pregnant.

From what I have heard of the few people I know from Ukraine, Domino's is pretty popular over there.

I'm pretty sure that was a big change from the Wii and Wii U version.

The problem was the game was originally designed around the motion controls, and the analog stick is not a great replacement for them. If they had gone down the Metal Gear Rising route and had you move the analog stick to select your slash angle and press a button to slash it would have been way easier. Moving the analog stick in the direction of the slash is just awkward.

At this point, all I can say is if this was some power play by Putin, then he has made the Russian military look like the biggest joke in the world.

Yes, but it also took a while for them to dominate the audio world as well. Cassettes were still pretty common well into the early 90's. Granted, a big chunk of that was because of the challenges of incorporating CD players into cars, but still.

Cassettes were just easier to listen to on the go until the invention of the Discman, and those weren't really a product that your average user could buy until 10 years after they came out. Even then, cassettes still had a lot of advantages over early CD players. It wasn't until the prices went down that it became a viable consumer product.

Really? I just logged into my account, clicked the "Cancel Membership" button, and answered their "Why are you leaving" survey and that was that.

Nowhere near as much of a headache as when I tried to cancel Sirius XM.

The honest answer you aren't going to find a real consensus because there is so much grey area on the matter.

Some of us believe you can talk about emulation all you want as long as you don't link to rom sites. Some of us believe you can only talk about emulators that don't require a bios since there is no way to obtain a bios legally.

Personally I would be fine with it as long as the system is no longer produced ("discontinued" being the key word), but I can't in good faith say that you can talk about modding systems because another moderator might not be fine with it.

I understand the ridiculousness of modern tipping culture, but also know it isn't the fault of the person you are tipping (at least not in the restaurant or delivery sense) so punishing them by not tipping is just going to get them in trouble or fired. That said, I also understand that it is just going to hasten the automation and eventual removal of the "human"element of the service industry by doing away with tips altogether and forcing the price to be included in the cost of the service. It is not an easy solution and I doubt it would be 100% "fixed" in any of our lifetimes.

That is the typical Russian war tactic: Flood the enemy with troops until you overwhelm them and obtain victory.

The emlpoyer certainly wouldn't give you two weeks notice if they decided to let you go. They don't deserve two weeks notice when you decide to go.

My last employer gave me 5 months notice, LOL.

But to be fair, they where required to give 12 weeks notice by law, and wanted to get as much info out of me before I was out the door. And before you ask, the incentive for staying that long was I would get payed an additional 6 months of severance after I was gone, in addition to have benefits for another year after that.

One of those movie theater popcorn poppers. Like they aren't that expensive, but I can't justify having something that big in my house.

I remember finding out about Final Fantasy 2, 3, and 5 from some random GeoCities site back in 98 after I finished Final Fantasy 7. I was just like "wait a minute, last game I remember was 3, where are 4, 5, and 6?" and that is what got me into emulation.

Was told the other day it is the most banned book in the US.

It was required reading in my school, I want to say I read it in 9th or 10th grade. Same with Catcher in the Rye, although they wait until 12th grade for that.

Then again, this was over 20 years ago, can't speak to if it is required now.

How are they making 50% profit ? most people wont trade in a game for $20 when gamestop will then sell it for $40 as they could just sell it for that price, its so easy to sell games along other things online nowadays for a good price, be it facebook market place or other local pick up sites and even online via ebay or amazon.

And now you know the reason Gamestop is slowly going out of business... :)

More accurately, don't go to a store that sells used games to buy a new game.

Gamestop is only going to order enough stock to satisfy pre-orders because they make next to nothing off of new game sales. Conversely, if they sell the game used they are making like 50% profit. So why waste shelf space on a new game when you can use it to actually make money?

Eternal Rings was the first (and to date only) game I have played by them. Honestly not a bad idea for a game, but they never really did much with it and the whole game felt like a rush job (which given that they were releasing 3-4 games a year at the time is probably an accurate statement).

As influential as they are on JRPGs, the Ultima games.

Most of them either have you buy your stats or are situational. And the games are usually less about how strong your character is and more about having the right items/skills to get past a situation. You can usually take a character from base to maxed out in about 5-10 minutes.

WTF? Of course it is.

I could see the argument for 2 or 3 not being a JRPG, but the first one absolutely is. Just more action then turn-based.

All the "Eject removable disk" process does is check to make sure that the drive isn't being written to, then un-mounts it so that it can't be written to anymore. If you haven't touched the drive in a while and it isn't flashing, you are good to just pull it.

Still, not a bad idea to do it through software since you never know what background processes are doing.

It is a horror game, the purpose is to gross you out and make you uncomfortable. I could point to a dozen or so instances in the Silent Hill games from 20 years ago that are just as if not more disturbing. Hell, the movie has even more disturbing scenes than this. And Sony was more than happy to let those go without incident.

This just reeks of Sony going "Hey guys, look how progressive we are!"

This would work better if she was like 20-22 and looked underage.

My 360 controller just started wearing out, and I have had that thing for something like 10 years. The main problem with it is the x button (obviously the one used the most) is sticking. I could probably take it apart and fix it, but I just picked one of the new Xbox controllers instead. Much more comfortable than the 360 controller was. Only problem is my PC doesn't have bluetooth, and the controller adapter I got didn't work, so I can only use it wired. I'll probably get a bluetooth adapter, then I can use my Switch pro controller as a second controller if I want.

I also have a Logitech PS2/3/PC controller that I have used for 15+ years. I swear, that thing is neigh indestructible, only problem is it is corded so I only use it on my RetroPie.

Speaking from experience, orange juice doesn't carbonate easily (well, natural carbonation anyways). Every time I have tried it you basically get carbonation bombs or it all erupts out when you open the bottle. Sure, you could just add club soda to orange juice, but then you would be watering it down. And mixing orange juice concentrate into club soda is just horrible because orange juice concentrate sucks.
