Agreed. Nerfing OMA/Tubes is the only thing that needs to be nerfed

MCC type ecosystem for COD sounds like a good idea. I wonder how you could manage it all without fragmenting the userbase though. How would progression between different games work?

I think we'll see something along those lines though yeah.

They could also make hubs for each era of COD. Cold War/Modern Warfare. WW2. Future Warfare (or maybe they'd scrap this since Halo sorta covers this). Update each of those eras with new campaigns but just build on the multiplayer.

That sounds awesome

I remember reading a rumor that Activision was holding back remasters. Like a break this glass in case of an emergency situation but with releasing remasters. Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer remastered wasnt released because they didnt want it to take away from Warzone/MW2019 based on what I heard. Now they hold hit hostage in case of an emergency.

Microsoft doesnt have to do that. They can just find a good release window and release them. Maybe they can update the Modern Warfare games on the newest engine and release them in Master Chief style collection while the main like CoD games stop being a yearly release. CoD4 was remastered but that was last Gen on an old engine. They could do the same with World at War and Black Ops 1+2. Imagine BO2 remastered? Jesus.

Imagine these games but with the care of the Master Chief Collection. (The current MCC) It would be amazing. Plus, they can come to Gamepass? Maybe the guns in the games can go to Warzone for those that like that game?

Maybe this is hopium because Ive been waiting MW2 MP Remastered forever and I gave up on that dream a year ago. Now it feels like not only is it possible, its likely.

I always sucked at flying so I would just be the gunner and light shit up. Having a great pilot and gunner combo is always amazing. Its even fun to just jump into a Blackhawk with a full squad as an Engineer. I repair, spot and help with anti vehicles with my Stinger for air or RPGs for ground. I could just die and come back with more ammo. Just pure fun.

I know this is random but I thought that I was finally just not into the Battlefield series anymore. I knew BF2042 was bad but I thought I would play it more. Then I went back to BF4.

To put this in perspective. Im a console player but Ive had a PC for a few years. Ive decided to actually try to get my aim up on PC, I am WAY better with a controller, so Im playing more PC games. I joined a BF4 Rush lobby with only about 16 people total in the lobby (that is about a 4th of the normal lobby) and I cant aim for shit.

I still had WAY more fun in BF4 than BF2042 with a controller in my hand. I wasnt even getting kills like I normally did but I felt like I was actually playing a squad based FPS with destruction and fun. I felt like I was helping my team even though I suck at aiming. It felt like Battlefield.

Ive only played maybe 4 matches of BF2042. Every time I play 1 match I have a strong desire to just stop playing, so I do. God damnit. BF2042 was suppose to be the chosen one. They just massacred it before it even got off the ground.

All of a sudden. Things are starting to change. All of a sudden communication is increasing, there is better decision making, etc. Were they planning on doing these things before the announcement of the acquisition which came out of nowhere for everyone in the company? I doubt it. It could be the result of Bobby being forced to fire 30-40 higher level employees that Microsoft thought were problems before they would buy the company. Who knows.

Anyway, Ill list a few things that have happened in only a few days.

  1. Call of Duty Vanguard Season 2 has been delayed so they can focus on actually fixing Vanguard, Modern Warfare and Warzone
  2. Insiders report that Call of Duty will finally stop being a yearly release in the future and it was wanted by the Devs for years
  3. The leader at Blizzard comes out with a statement, which they barely communicate anymore it feels like, talking about putting their players first, adding more content to their games and doing it more consistently, fixing their culture with things they are actually doing, etc. Ill link what was said and post bullet points that I found important.

https://twitter.com/blizzard_ent/status/1484294670590959618?s=21

https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/blizzard/23763775/putting-our-teams-and-players-at-the-forefront-of-everything-we-do

  • Were measuring our executive and management teams directly against culture improvement. This means their (and my own) success and compensation will directly depend on our overall success in creating a safe, inclusive, and creative work environment at Blizzard.
  • Were dedicating more full-time roles and resources to improving our culture. All too often, this important effort falls to employee resource groups, filled with people who already have full-time jobs. A few of the leadership positions weve established for this new team include:
  • a Culture leader who will help us maintain the best aspects of what we have today, and change and evolve where needed to ensure everyone brings their best self to Blizzard
  • a new organizational leader for Human Resources who will build trust, empower our teams, and help foster a safe, positive work environment for everyone
  • a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) leader solely focused on our progress across multiple efforts in this area
We are committed to staffing these teams as a priority.
  • We tripled the size of our compliance and investigation teams and have articulated clear accountability for unacceptable behavior. This applies to all employees at Blizzard, including leadership and management.
  • We have shared representation data internally with our teams and have set goals around improvement across these metrics.
  • Weve put in place an upward feedback program so that employees have confidence in evaluating management, and we will use this to measure the quality and effectiveness of our managers.
  • We also know we need to deliver content to our players on a more regular basis and innovate both in and beyond our existing games. We have some exciting things to announce, and Ill be sharing more next week.
4. Today, Raven Software, the QA testers that were treated like shit, said they are forming a Union and for voluntary support. No way they would be so polite about this after all they have been through without hope from the acquisition. Plus, they announce this a few days after the acquisition

https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1484556399262814210?s=21

Maybe things will finally start to get better.

The people making the hacks will always be a step ahead of the developers just by the very nature of what they do. Cheats are proactive, anti-cheats are reactive.

I agree with that. That is why that seeing the anti cheat look at stats mid game is a good first step. I dont think they have a chance in hell of competing with hackers the traditional way. Im sure they will figure out a way around the accuracy stat but you can put an insane amount of stats to track in the back end. That might help a lot.

Of course, this is me hoping more than anything but I do believe it will happen one day. Plus, it looks like major publishers are willing to work together to solve this problem. It might take 20 years or something though.

Overall yes. There are negatives for sure but based on how Microsoft handles games in recent years I expect them to drop more games at a higher quality with less BS at the company. Especially dead franchises like Starcraft, Spyro, etc. Also, the yearly CoD cycle probably going away is great too. Even new IPs are possible.

Activision releasing more than CoD every year would be nice

I agree that the maps and gameplay are better. I like more of the modes in Cold War as well. I still think the graphics are better. I think Cold War is better in general. However, we are the minority. The general player base thinks Modern Warfare is easily the best CoD the last 3 years and the features it had is the reason why. So many people said Cold War was a technical downgrade to Modern Warfare and that carries over to the general population.

Also, Modern Warfare is unplayable because they tried to integrate Vanguard into Warzone and broke both Modern Warfare and Vanguard. The reason seems to be because Activision didnt have any QA testers anymore and the patches are breaking the games which Im confident stems from Bobby Kotick

Hes probably why Overwatch 2 even exists. Im sure if Jeff had the choice he would have just had OW keep going with expansions to make major changes/additions like WoW. WoWs first xpac dropped raids from 40 to 25 people, just like OW2 going from 6v6 to 5v5

Its kinda weird. I remember a Dev on Twitter saying that Jeff wanted to do Overwatch 2. However, the 5v5 thing is.. well.. I have a theory on that. Sure the baseline reason can be that it solves the Tank queue issue. That always seemed like a very lazy reason to go 5v5. They suck at making Tanks fun and desirable? Go 5v5. No. I think the reason for this so this unknown Overwatch mobile game. I think that 5v5 would fit Mobile more so that is the main reason they went 5v5.

We have seen the gameplay. 5v5 doesnt look that much more fun. In fact, tanking looks to suck even more. Granted, they clearly didnt patch the game much at all for 5v5 at the time but it just looks like a bad idea.

They cant really go back on 5v5 because of Overwatch League. They hard committed to it and forced teams to change their rosters because of it. People lost their jobs because of 5v5 and now they probably backed themselves into a corner because of it. I think going back 6v6 and releasing the multiplayer content that has built up is the best strategy regardless of the Overwatch league, Im a huge fan of the League btw, but I dont think they will do it.

Eh, I completely disagree with Cold War being less complete. It was a much better game experience overall imo. Full campaign story that didnt end on a cliffhanger and had a unique structure, an actual third game mode (and one of the best zombies modes Treyarch has made) that wasnt garbage/half-assed like spec ops was, and even Dead Ops Arcade too.

MW 2019 did have a better multiplayer game mode though, Ill give it that.

For Vanguard youre completely right though, that game is a travesty

I personally like Cold Wars gameplay over Modern Warfare by it was an obvious downgrade technically. It was a Sledgehammer game that went through development hell and Treyarch had to bail them out with insane crunch. There were 10 launch maps in Cold War while Modern Warfare had 20. Modern Warfare also had Ground War which was a Battlefield like game mode. Sure Cold War had Dirty Bomb but that was an obviously rushed game mode. There was also the Gunfight game mode.

It also didnt have the features, animations and sounds of Modern Warfare while graphically looking worse. Plus, Warzone was dropped midway through Modern Warfare which was obviously worked on for a long time while Cood War didnt have anything that big that was being worked on. Modern Warfare was far more feature complete.

I've been looking into this and many problems with Activision/Blizzard games stem from Bobby Kotick. Apparently, he had his hand in everything. He was WAY too involved with every developer studio which influenced so many different decisions. Everyone agrees the yearly CoD cycle needed to stop long ago. The odds are high now that the yearly Call of Duty cycle ends with MW2 2022. They will finally take the time to develop good Call of Duty games that are feature complete. Not just once in a blue moon like MW 2019 but every CoD. Also, very strict skill based match making could have been a direct result of Bobby Kotick's influence but that is just a guess.

Bobby Kotick effected Overwatch 2 as well. The game is taking forever to complete because Bobby boy apparently kept giving the team random projects to do that took priority over making the game and then pulling the rug out from under them by telling canceling those projects later on. Plus, obviously, there has been a massive amount of Devs leaving Activision/Blizzard in general because of the workplace allegations and Bobby was covering it up. The development of Overwatch 2 seems to have been a shit show because of Bobby Kotick.

Now think about all the other problems with games within the company. Workplace issues. WoW reforged. Diablo 4 delay. The famous "do you guys not have phones?" debacle. The shit show that is Warzone is currently in and how broken Call of Duty Vanguard is. The death of some game franchises like Guitar Hero. The lack of any new Spyro game. All of this stems from Bobby. Bobby leaving could change everything within the company.

Depends on what you are looking for. Multiplayer is an important component. The games are just different.

If you're so sure of that then sell them - for re-sale value. Of which Game Pass has none.

I'll be honest. It's 2022. The era of owning physical games is rapidly disappearing. It's pretty much already gone if you are a PC player. I know people want to desperately hold on to this dream of owning their physical media but that dream will be gone very soon. Hell, even most physical games you buy require internet to download a day one patch now a days. Before long, console will be like PC. You will end up downloading every game. Many people on PC don't even have disk drives anymore.

The nice thing about Game pass is that if it gets too expensive you can always go back to just buying the individual games.

Very good point

or pay it because its less than the cost of a game per month. its a good value.

This. If the price is doubled to $20 per month. I would pay $240 per year. That is 4 $60 games per year but I get access to far more games. Its still a great deal. That is if games stay at $60 which we see is changing

Tripping easily. Smash is a PvP game. BotW is a PvE game. That alone makes tripping FAR worse

CoD will be worse, they'll release it as a "game preview" or "work in progress"

What recent history shows they would do that? LMAO
