Nobody actually lost any money. I would just adjust their 8 hour schedule to start when showed up to avoid the tardy. So if they were scheduled 6-230 and were going to be half an hour late, I'd just change it to 630-3. I've supervised this same crew for about 5 years now and I have this unwritten rule with them where if they are going to be late for work, be late in increments of 15 minutes. I can only adjust a schedule by 15 minutes, so I tell them if they are going to be late by 5, just hang our in their truck for another 10 and I can adjust the schedule so they don't get dinged. I understand shit happens, I'm not going to let somebody be disciplined because they blew a tire on the highway or they had to dig their way out of a snow bank. I have a pretty good crew and they've never exploited my relaxed rules. Over the course of a year I might make a dozen adjustments. Company auditor paid us a visit and detected compassion so of course they dropped the hammer on me as an example. 17 years with the company, last time I was disciplined was 15 years back when I was just a kid and didn't really give a fuck, and this clown is going on about how he could have had me fired over this. Smh. 5 day weekend to mull over the thought of stepping down so I don't have to deal with this shit again. --- My head's not torn off, my sunglasses aren't broken. Amen, hallelujah, peanut butter.
