I am glad someone said this. We are a first world country. We need to be prepared to handle the mentally ill in non lethal ways. We need to protect women from being pulverized with bicycle locks. These goals are not mutually exclusive.

theres no benefit to SIM cards nowadays. E-sims are superior in every way. Imagine being able to switch carriers any time you want, with no delay. No lock in contracts. Pay for just a single day or even less if you want. SIM cards are old tech and theres no reason to continue using them. Its an inevitability they will be gone, so the sooner the better.

The way I understand it is that currently Apple bulk sells phones to companies with a soft lock that only lets the phone boot up if an activated sim card from the company is inserted in the sim slot. Once there is no physical sim slot . . .

My brother has been looking for a particular bottle of whiskey. Its a limited edition that launched a few weeks ago and has been sold out. Hes in Canada and doesnt get it there but finally found one in stock at a local store by me. He asked me to get it and hed pay me back so I placed an online order for delivery. I didnt realize they outsourced to doordash.

Yesterday I watched the tracker when it was out for delivery and was waiting by the door but never heard a knock or anything. Checked the tracker and the dasher claimed they couldnt deliver it to me. No call or text to attempt to reach me. Very odd.

I called the store and they set aside another bottle they had and I went to pick it up today. I asked them about it and they said the dasher never returned with the bottle and they have to file a complaint now. They apologized for not sealing it in the first place so the driver wouldnt have seen what it was.

I was already planning on canceling doordash next month when my free dashpass expires but Im going to do it now. If I had known they outsourced to them I would have just gone to pick it up. Its just hard to do with an 8 month old. Doordash has been really terrible lately with missing items, delivery at the wrong door, super late, etc. This takes the cake.

This is true. For safety you are supposed to put an 8 month old in the back seat, preferably on the floor.

The trucking industry is hiring "experienced" instead of training. Some countries, Finland for example, upgrade skills of their citizenry with vocational training instead of leaving it to the businesses. Consider what it costs for every 10 years that we keep someone in prison.

OK, I see above. The problem seems to have been calibration. The fact that the driver knew his brakes were not working beforehand makes the driver culpable. So everyone will go home happy when the sentence gets reduced to 20 years?

Point and it is more like 3 miles out of the way.

I stay alert when I have an Amazon Fresh delivery because it is just too tempting so I am watching while it is 5 stops away. At 4 stops away it is about 3 blocks away but at 3 stops away it goes a mile in the wrong direction. Now I am wondering if Amazon uses an efficiency algorith or just randomly sequences the deliveries.

dirt cheap fake espresso machine that makes good cups of coffee. i've been using mine for years, i've even got an actual espresso machine that i pretty much never use because its a pain to mess with and coffee from the cheapo machine is good enough.

I am intrigued. This is a contender.

I quit making coffee years ago because the cafe >> me but I have only gotten cafe coffee 5 times since May 2020.

I have never pulled an espresso but I do have a machine. I am wondering how I should make coffee. Please advise, CE.
