It's a fairly controversial issue in that it's dehumanizing towards black people and not problem-solving, but as a descriptor it's valid and fairly studied, even before the book by DiAngelo. It is absolutely not racist in the way users on here think it is, it is descriptive. By comparison, I wouldn't feel comfortable wantonly posting things I've studied about the African American family unit for fear of getting modded. Some things in academia just tend to get loaded in common parlance. So, go ahead. How is "white fragility" racist? What is the definition? You have Thief who is supposed to be the "run away" character (a really powerful tactic in that game) but ends up giving you a hardmode, Black Mage is another hardmode with a nuke button, and Black Belt starts off slightly weak and ends up a powerhouse. Picking your playstyle is part of the fun. Ports of the game are much more accessible to a modern audience, but they kill almost all the difficulty. FF1 is pretty well balanced, especially for its time period. So, to them, someone who wants to be a woman, but wasn't born XX, automatically is less of one (or not one). TERFs see transwomen as coming from a place of power and threatening their gender, identity, or livelihood. There is no real equivalent for men. Men largely don't have being men, transmen generally don't threaten their identity. If anything, the male equivalent would be men who are scared, legitimately scared, of being "tricked" by a transwoman - that would threaten their identity.
