I agree with you guys 100%, Clear Card was disappointing compared to the original. Considering that I watched about 20 shows this year, not being in the top 10 means that it was in the lower half of all the anime I watched. It was still fun, but not nearly as fun as it should have been or what I hoped it would be.

EDIT: Just double checked, it was exactly 20. The others I didn't mention are Amanchu Advance, Beatless, Darling In The Franxx, FLCL Progressive/Alternative, and Gurazeni.

All right, I threw together my top 10. Like I said, Release The Spyce's final placement could fluctuate a bit depending on tomorrow's finale, and the last few episodes of Hugtto Precure might push it up to #2, but there's no chance that it falls below #3 at all. Like I said, it went in my "maybe I'll watch it later" pile because that Winter season was completely packed with shows that I was interested in, and I had to trim down somewhere. Obviously in hindsight I wish I had picked it over mediocre stuff like Beatless and Darling In The Franxx, but oh well.

Yeah. We have VERY different things we look for in anime. When I first entered these topics I thought you were just ignoring me and my tastes, lol. But no, we just have very different yet valid opinions on anime.

I know. It really seems like we have very little in common when it comes to our anime tastes. I'll try to throw together my top 10 to compare, but some of the placements would be subject to change since I'm waiting for the finale of Release The Spyce tomorrow and the last few episodes of Hugtto Precure.

From your list, A Place Further Than The Universe is the only show that I'm even slightly interested in watching. I didn't watch it as it aired because that Winter season had so many shows that I was interested in that I simply couldn't watch them all, but it's in my backlog as a "maybe I'll find time to watch it later" show.

I was waiting for more confirmation before posting about this (since the first leak happened like two weeks ago), but I think I've seen enough leaked material to say that it's most likely legit. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the newest batch of Precure coming next year...

*designs have not been officially revealed yet and are technically considered spoilers*





It looks like Toei is definitely going with a space theme, as was speculated when the title of Star Twinkle Precure was first leaked. This series has some big shoes to fill after how good and ambitious Hugtto Precure has been this year, but based on these designs, I think it's off to a solid start.

The pink one looks like an absolute dork and I love her design. I hope she swings those hair balls on the ends of her twintails like a weapon at some point. The blue(-ish green, maybe turquoise?) one might actually be an alien if the information from the leaker is correct, and her design seems interesting. The purple one honestly looks like nothing special, but yellow over there definitely attracts some attention. She's definitely not someone born in Japan, and I'm pretty sure she's the first dark-skinned main Cure that we've seen in the franchise. Her design is cool, and I'm interested to hear about her backstory and origins.

Octopath Traveler is an RPG with eight playable stories and eight playable characters (hence the 'octo' in the name). You pick one at your beginning as your 'main' character and play through their side story first, but as you meet and recruit the others, you also play through their stories, with your current party helping them as you go along. You can do the stories in any order (though some of them may be tougher if you try doing them earlier) and I believe there's a final chapter that happens after you beat all eight of the other stories. I haven't made it that far, but I've heard people mention it. The game uses 2D sprites and 2D-ish exploration, but the art and backgrounds still manage to be extremely beautiful and detailed while still having a retro feel to it. Look at the pic below to see what I mean:

I edited it out of my post because you mentioned the whole reflexes thing, but if you want to know... the Borderlands series is a combination of fast-paced FPS gameplay with added RPG elements. Each game has several different characters that you can play through the campaign with, and each character has their own skill trees and playing style. For example, Axton the Commando has a deployable sentry turret and his skill tree can make the turret more useful for defensive (like giving it a shield) or offensive (giving it rocket launchers, more damage, etc.) capabilities, while Salvador the Gunzerker can dual-wield weapons and his skill trees can give him more durability (increased health and status resistance) or firepower (increased damage, fire rate, reload speed). There's also a long campaign story that can be played co-op with up to four people, along with hundreds of side quests, and an absurd amount of guns to use. In 2 and Pre-Sequel, there are literally millions of possible guns because of how the guns are procedurally generated using different parts.

Then I'll suggest:

Fire Emblem (Two of the older GBA games are available on the Wii U Virtual Console, and they're considered among the best in the franchise. There's also one on the Wii, but it's a direct sequel to a previous game on the Gamecube, so I don't recommend it if you haven't played that one already.)
Shin Megami Tensei and its Persona spin-offs (Mostly on PS4, don't remember if they're on PC as well. Haven't played them myself but I've heard great things about them.)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (On Wii U, it's a crossover-ish combination of the two series listed above. Severely underrated.)
Xenoblade Chronicles (One game each on Wii, Wii U, and Switch. Haven't played them myself but I've heard great things about them.)
Luminous Arc (Two games on DS, underrated gems on a system that had lots of different RPG's to choose from.)
Octopath Traveler (On Switch, retro-ish graphics but amazing gameplay and story.)
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (Yes, I know you said you're sick of Pokemon, but if you're just sick of the main series games, give one of the spin-offs a try. PMD is amazing. I recommend Explorers of Sky on DS.)

EDIT: Removed the Tales Of and Borderlands recommendations due to TC mentioning the "no quick reflexes needed" thing. I didn't see that before.

My Vita may as well be called a Nepstation. I had a couple of other games (like Child of Light and Tales of Hearts R) but the Hyperdimension Neptunia series was the #1 reason why I bought a Vita in the first place. Also, if they kept releasing MLB The Show games on Vita beyond '15, I probably would have never caved and bought a PS4 for them.

Oof. That didn't last long. Shutting down not even four months from launch... both the game and the anime must have flopped hard. I hopped off and uninstalled the the game last week, but it's still a shame, because the anime turned out to be surprisingly good. It's interesting that they mention there being a "standalone" version that can be played even after the service officially ends. I've never seen that happen with a game like this before.

Spidey already helped me support Nanoha and Fate in the Save That Anime Character contests in the past. This isn't "rallying for outside help", it's "hoping that the help that was there before would stick around", and there's a very clear difference between the two. It's not like I'm @ mentioning someone in the middle of a round. I would never rally or cheat like that in these contests.

@Kajagogo Before I officially submit my nominations, I need a ruling on whether some of my ideas will qualify for the "married or dating" requirement.

Inuyasha & Kikyo (Inuyasha)
They clearly shared romantic feelings for each other before *Inuyasha story spoilers* they were turned on each other by Naraku's manipulation and Kikyo originally died, and after she was resurrected and discovered the truth about how they were tricked, she still had romantic feelings for Inuyasha. I can't use the term "dating" to describe them because I don't really know what really counts as "dating" in feudal Japan, so I don't know if they did that in Kikyo's first life, but there were very obvious romantic feelings.

Nanoha Takamachi & Fate Testarossa (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha)
Their friendship shows signs of romantic feelings in later seasons, but it's debatable whether they officially started dating. In their case, they're shown living together in Nanoha StrikerS, Nanoha's legally adopted daughter Vivio claims that she has "two mamas" in Nanoha ViVid, and their voice actresses claim that they're absolutely a married couple (Fate's VA Nana Mizuki claims that she's the 'father' in the relationship). But it's never totally confirmed in the show's canon, not even with an on-screen kiss.

Utena Tenjou & Anthy Himemiya (Revolutionary Girl Utena)
Same as above, their friendship across the series grew romantic in the second half of the series, but it's debatable whether they officially started dating. But then in the alternate movie adaptation, the last scene of the movie is the two of them kissing while naked and laying on the hood of a moving car. It's an obvious "they totally fucked that night and totally dated later" ending, but I don't know if that kind of unconfirmed ending counts for this.

I have others that I know for a fact will qualify, but I'll officially submit my nominations after I get a ruling on these three.
