That's why this is awesome. I love that a team not on the "elite" level is in the World Cup final. It's been an epic World Cup because it hasn't just been the elite teams dumpstering everyone.

I'm split on this. I want the final to be the best 2 teams competing and in those examples it could be argued that is true.

Here not so much, I find it hard to believe Croatia were better than Brazil or Belgium. I do think they could take any other team this tournament with the exception of maybe a fully fit uruguay

No disrespect to Croatia and I like the thought of a new world cup champion AND I think they were better than England

France is legit, they look like a world champion. They beat Argentina in probably the game of the tournament, they comfortably destroyed Uruguay who had sent Ronaldo home and then they beat belgium, the same team that beat Brazil. Croatia won 2 penalties then beat an england team that was OK, better than their last few teams but not amazing.

Argentina wasn't that bad. Still better than spain portugal and germany. The match against france was game of the tournament

Not anymore.

They're still a tier 1 team, but this is because the super-tier teams, the true soccer superpowers are gone.

Brazil is now down to the level of Germany, Italy or France, which are, the top tier teams, but one world cup they may be amazing, and in another cup they may lose to middle tier or even low tier teams (e.g. Italy didn't even make it this year!).

tier 1 - brazil, germany, france, spain, portugal
tier 2 - argentina, colombia, croatia, netherlands, england
tier 3 - mexico, nigeria, south korea, swenden
tier 4 - Japan, New Zealand, Australia, USA, costa rica, etc (those teams that make it sometimes and sometimes they do not)

Move portugal to tier 2 and add uruguay there

If russia wins, that guy with the hand ball is going to be crucified
