I loved Y3. Even if you don't get super into the story, there's so much to do.

What's the good side stuff in Yakuza 3? I don't feel like I gave that game the proper time it needed.

Also I just started Y4 today.

I honestly don't get the hate. Maybe it's because a lot of gamers don't have a soft spot for kids? I love the Orphanage storyline. My menory sucks tho. So, Id have to play it again to remember it in depth. I just remember playing 1-4 consecutively and 2 being the one that had the most forgettable story.

I never got it either. I think people said it was a blocking simulator, but I don't recall having that issue. Maybe I figured out how to get around it quickly. I actually had a bigger issue with Y4. I feel like the enemies grappled a shit ton in Y4. Also, Tanimura's finale is the only time I've ever had to switch the difficulty in a Yakuza game to easy to get past. That fight was BS. >_> But to be fair, I went in with no items...or weapons. So...my fault. >_> I hardly ever used weapons throughout the entire series though.

It is one. Even on Normal difficulty, the bosses just block and block and block. It makes the fights much longer than they should be.

Also some people dislike that Y3's main story doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. I didn't have that issue. The story was still great and the new location was fun to walk around.

I must have abused the Komaki Tiger Drop then, because I really don't remember having that issue. It wasn't until 3 where I discovered the Komaki Tiger Drop. I must have either missed it or not bothered to try it between Y0-YK2

I was told 3 was a weak entry, but I liked it a lot too. I didn't have a problem with enemies blocking either, it didnt seem any worse than any of the other games.

I'm on 5 now and can say definitively that I didnt like 4 as much as 3 and so far I'm not liking 5 as much as 4. 2 is still my favorite so far.

Yes! Loved Yakuza 3.

I will say, though, the side missions aren't as good as 0. I actually found the remastered version, which included a ton of cut content from the original US release, to be a little slow if I bothered to do all the sidequests before moving on, lol.

I'd advise just pacing yourself, if you get sick of side stuff, head back to the plot.

Yeah the tiger drop is a massive game breaker if you can hit it successfully. After learning it in YK1, I spent the rest of the game only using that move.

It's so broken but it's so fun!

"Is there a problem sir?! Then hit me!"
*enemy begin to atta-KOMAKI DROP*
"Sit down asshole!

I only even discovered it because a user mentioned it here while I was starting Y3. I can't believe I missed out on using it the first three games lol.

Personally, 4 is tied for me as least favorite. Love the gameplay and characters, story is a horror show. 5 is among my faves

I play these games every year, but for me, 4 was the first and only time I got kind of fatigued. They all take place in Kamurocho, but damn, starting over 3 separate times with characters that needed to be upgraded all over again, all in the same city, with absolutely no content outside of it, the ludicrous plot to boot...it was a lot. Even the novelty of having 3 new playable characters didn't offset it. 5 handled it way, way better.

Only upside for 4 is Kiryu is made even more badass by being a guest, lol. He waltzed in the plot at the last hour, fully upgraded, and in about 20 minutes beat up the Yakuza family that had been stringing along the other 3 for 20 hours. Even his theme song, "The Myth", was pretty epic.

I'm still in the Saejima chapter of 5, which was an absolute fucking bore up until I got back to an actual city. I honestly don't know what the devs were thinking with all that prison and hunting stuff

If I had to rank them, it would be K2 >= 0 > 3 > 4 > 1 > 5 so far.

3 is great, it was my first exposure to the series on PS3 and I liked it a lot. Beat it all the way through in the remastered collection.

This part was indeed awesome and really is the only time that he is made out to be the dragon in the games. Each game he's in he starts off weak and at the bottom, but in 4, you spend countless hours as all these others, leveling up and getting BASIC skills each time. Kiryu starts, and he's nigh upgraded all the way already and is just there to knock heads and clear this shit up.

Granted the plot was absolutely bonkers, but I did like the overall game. The end of 4 is where I got most burnt out, then 5 it's been an absolute CHORE to get through. I'm on the baseball guy and I just have no desire to keep going. My only desire is because I DESPERATELY want to play 6 (I love the new engine so much) but I can't justify playing 70% of 5 and then jumping to 6.
