I will say you dont pay for the tickets, always lower bowl, sitting about the same spot in arena.

Well, if you averaged $100 per ticket, that would be about $10k, even if they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. I'm sure if you took this on and you contacted the team, telling them you were planning on being a superfan and going to EVERY game, they'd probably hook you up with a deal for all their away games in addition to normal season tickets.

BTW, who thought it was a good idea to stop including nested quotes?

Absolutely know what you mean. One of the final things I'm still learning are the many names of the various fielding positions. Probably one of the quickest ways to learn is to watch a T20 or an ODI world cup. The commentary of these events is usually aimed at a general audience and they do a great job of explaining what is going on. Test cricket is the one which makes things quite complicated with the addition of declarations and more advanced fielding setups according to the state of the pitch.

I want to watch some, but it's virtually never shown on US TV. It irked me when my cable provider was showing the Cricket World Cup about 5 years ago on a pay-per-view package and didn't even offer the first day or two for free. With how little interest there is in the sport here, you'd think the smart thing to do would be to give those who are a little curious a taste to find out if they'd become interested enough to buy the package. Otherwise, all they likely got was the extremely small group of people who were already die hard fans to buy it. I wasn't willing to drop likely $100+ out of curiosity on something I might end up not liking at all.

I've been wanting to learn cricket, but it's pretty much impossible to do so just by reading up on it. It uses what might as well be another language for its terminology. I've tried a few times, but within the first sentence or two, what I look up uses a term I need to look up, which in turn uses another term in the first sentence or two that I need to look up, and so on. Very quickly, I'm a dozen links deep and just give up.

yeah I hear what youre saying, but still think everyone would be better off

lower class folks generally cant make ends meet to begin with and rely on assistance programs that are constantly being targeted and slashed

tax every dollar made at the same rate and theres a lot more money going into the system to be there for the folks that need it

If you went with your 40% flat tax, assuming full time 40 hrs/wk (2000 hrs/yr), someone making that $15/hr min wage that that movement is aiming for would go from paying $3413 to $12,000, a 251% increase. That would likely put them squarely in the poverty level, while there's a decent chance that they aren't under the current system (going from a take home of around $26.5k to $18k).

Someone making the federal minimum wage of $7.25 would go from paying $1553 to $5800, a 273% increase.

Someone making $500,000 would go from paying $150,689.50 to $200,000, a 33% increase.

Someone making $1 million would go from paying $335,689.50 to $400,000, a 19% increase.

Someone making $1 billion would go from paying $369,965,689.50 to $400,000,000, an 8% increase.

I pulled the taxes owed from the 2018 1040.

If you went to a 40% flat tax, you would be greatly increasing the number of people who would need government assistance.

There's one inaccuracy in the post: Income tax is only collected once -- you're not "paying income tax on [your] money they already TAXED". If s/he thinks that owing money during the income tax filing period is double taxed, s/he doesn't understand why s/he is paying in.

Mead posted...
There should be a flat tax percentage on everyone

A flat tax is regressive.

Let's say it costs $20k to pay for the necessities of living. With a flat tax of, say, 20%, a person making $20k would be paying $4k in taxes, leaving $16k to pay for those $20k in living expenses. A person making $1M would be left with $800k to pay for those $20k of living expenses.

With the current graduated system, the government has determined that it takes $20k to live, so doesn't collect income tax on the first $20k. So, that person making $20k has $20k left to pay for those $20k of living expenses.

Which system would you rather have?

I haven't looked too much into it, but people have been advocating for what they call the Fair Tax system, which I believe abolishes personal income tax and replaces it with a national Sales Tax coupled with everyone getting a rebate from the gov't to cover the basic cost of living.

Mezcalaria La Milagrosa, a small bar... The bar owner said... he wanted to remain anonymous

Yeah, that'll keep him completely anonymous. That's like saying "the eldest son of Pres. Donald Trump, who wishes to remain anonymous, said..."

No problem. A friend showed me it almost 10 years ago. I usually get addicted to it for several months at a time. If you create an account and want to look me up, my username there is Qrimson Fury.

Sure thing. That's how you could arrive at what I did in post #38, since you'd keep trying the top row 2 block and shifting it over each time you see that the 3rd row isn't possible. That's really about as high a level of solving tricks/strategies that I know. It's served me well enough to be at around, IIRC, 10k puzzles solved on griddlers.net

Now you can finish off C2 & C14. This allows you to finish off R6, and then R5. Then the left 2 1 and right 1 2 of R9. This finishes C15, as well as C1, which allows you to finish C3. Finishing C5 should be obvious. You can also finish R11 easily, as well as R13. This then leads to C13 being finished. You can then make that 3 in R14, which makes finishing C11 & C12 a snap. Then you can finish R10. R7 can be finished. Then you can finish C9. Now you can finish R12. Then finish C8. Then finish R14. Then finish C7, which finishes R8. Now finish R9, which finishes C10. This leaves the final square to fill at R15 C6.

QED.

You know know the top 2 1 5 of C12. This gives you the 7 in R5. You now know the top 1 1 3 in C11, which finishes off R1, which gives you the top 2 in C13, finishing off R3. You've also finished off R4. Knowing the top 3's in columns 5 & 11 gives you the 3's in row 8.
