You couldn't play 2042 in single-player without connecting to their servers. Which, of course, EA is fond of shutting down after a while, making the game useless. I still haven't played Mass Effect 3, and never will until it's available on Steam. EA got super greedy with the Sims and started releasing zillions of DLCs. Even if I don't get access to all the games automatically, I'll probably someday download Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar for free legally just to see what it's all about. Obviously I'll play it with maps and guides in hand. I know I'll be a Mage (Honesty), though, because I naturally chose Honesty in all the questions in the personality test that involve it. Actually, the only Ultima I've played is the NES version of Ultima III: Exodus. It's not a good game by modern standards, and I had to use the hint book to beat it, but I have good memories of it. I might like Mass Effect more, but it's simply not in the same realm of flexibility and replayability as The Sims. Sure, it's better, but if I had to play one IP for ALL eternity...

I liked the original Battlefield games (1942 & Vietnam), but the newer ones got too reliant on the servers. You couldn't play 2042 in single-player without connecting to their servers. Which, of course, EA is fond of shutting down after a while, making the game useless.

I still haven't played Mass Effect 3, and never will until it's available on Steam.

EA got super greedy with the Sims and started releasing zillions of DLCs. Screw that noise.

I voted for Ultima because it's the series I'd be most interested in playing more of. Even if I don't get access to all the games automatically, I'll probably someday download Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar for free legally just to see what it's all about. Obviously I'll play it with maps and guides in hand. I know I'll be a Mage (Honesty), though, because I naturally chose Honesty in all the questions in the personality test that involve it.

Actually, the only Ultima I've played is the NES version of Ultima III: Exodus. It's not a good game by modern standards, and I had to use the hint book to beat it, but I have good memories of it. The graphics and music are decent.
