I remember getting my PS4 and being annoyed at the lack of an option to turn that light off, as not only does it waste the already crap battery life, but it causes a bright reflection on the screen. And I don't even have the camera, so even if a game wanted to track it, it wouldn't be able to.

Now a few years later, and it suddenly occurred to me that I've never seen a game try to use the lightbar as a sub-Move motion controller, or even mention it. I guess maybe there's some downloadable crap on PSN, but any proper, decent games with any use for it at all? Or did they give up on it when they decided to revive the PS Move controller for VR?

And if they really are useless, why the hells will they still not give us an option to just turn the damn thing off?

If it was a case of 'any version of Samus unlocks this stuff', that would... still be terrible , but at least it would make some kind of sense. Every game requiring a new figure to get the rest of the game is just fucking dreadful.

Although... I do like that Metroid figurine. I'd just like it even more if it was £3 and not a glorified DLC key.

I did, and indeed still do. My personaly GOTY for 2016- it's basically Minecraft, obviously, but it trades some of the freedom for structure, which gives you a sense of purpose, accomplishment and progression that sandboxes often lack. The writing's really good too (and there's a lot of alliteration).

Well there was an SG-1 episode where it turned out it got activated by a fluke (trapping Catherine's fiancee on the other side), they just didn't know how they'd done it or how to do it again. If it's basically a film cut up into short chapters (ie- one story), then they don't really need to have people going through the gate every episode. It could just be one trip and a 'how the hell did we do that?' again.

Or maybe it's set on Earth and about something coming through the gate.

Just gone mine! Took the full five pulls, and all but three of the other medals I got were shit (although I did complete my Aqua collection with the one version of her I was missing), but I can't resist another Kairi.

Slightly miffed that Strength boosts appear to be capped though- I should be at +9 after the buffing phase of my turn, but only end up at +7. I mean, it's still an improvement, and whacks a second level of debuffs on the enemy, but it's not the humongous boost I was hoping for. OTOH, I do now have an all-girl Divine Rose (Illustrated KH2 Kairi, 0.2 Kairi, Illustrated Kairi, Illustrated Aqua, Larxene).

Huh, you're right... okay, they don't normally do that any more, but in this case it seems they have.

In any case, linking an account won't affect your ability to see an actual key for anything distributed that way (which is currently almost everything)
EDIT: No, wait, they still show a key rather than auto-redeem... guess it is just to try and stop people getting extra keys. Especially since they expire in a couple of weeks, and I wouldn't put it past a lot of those shady reseller sites to sell time-limited keys and then deny refunds.

There's no need to link accounts- that policy only lasted a few months because it was so unpopular. Any bundles from that time period still only work if you link an account and redeem straight to it (so can't be shared), but anything from after that gives a key that can be given away/traded, regardless of whether you've got a linked Steam account or not.

I've got the first one, but it turns out that its 'school' mode is just a bunch of skits, not an actual tutorial. But apparently Continuum Shift and Chronophantasma have proper 'teach me how to play this game' modes, and as someone who has singularly failed to grasp how to play fighting games, I'm always interested in something that might explain it properly.

So, while they're on Steam special offer, is it worth picking up CS and/or CPEX in the hopes they'll teach me what I need to know (and, if all else fails, so that I can mess around as a squirrel girl)?

Relatedly- Guilty Gear 2: Overture. Looks intriguingly odd, but has a bad reputation. Is that mainly because it's a non-fighting-game 'sequel' to a fighting game, or is it just bad?

Is Dying Light - The Following Enhanced Edition the complete package if I don't own the game or DLC?

Almost- it's missing three small DLCs, each of which adds an outfit, buggy skin and weapon. They're called Harran Ranger, Volatile Hunter and Gun Psycho bundles.

I bought the Harran Ranger one, because it gets you the best bow in the game, and bows are awesome (even if the OP DLC bow makes things way too easy, but who cares because I'm having so much fun). They're completely unimportant though.

The base game, The Following and all other DLCs are included in the Enhanced edition, though. It's a great game.

(also- boo hiss, region locking stops me buying anything from Nuuvem).

What's the best way to make it look prettier these days? I've seen people say not to bother with the Overhaul because there's better stuff out (and it's apparently incompatible with OpenMW), but there doesn't seem to be any other simple way of improving the world graphics as a whole, just huge lists of thousands of mods, most of which only improve a single spoon or something.

Five, actually, although two were edutainment things and so don't count (and one of those was for the Sega Pico, so counts even less).

Ignoring the Ecco Jr. games though, you're missing Ecco: Defender of the Future, which was a reboot that had nothing to do with the previous storyline (it was penned by sci-fi writer David Brin, and based on (rather dismissive) comments he made later, it appears he wasn't even aware there was a previous storyline), but still had a dolphin travelling through time to fight aliens. It was for Dreamcast, with a later PS2 port, and was pretty good, but also very hard and scary.

Any good, cheap Western RPGs that can run on a fairly basic laptop? My collection is basically zero, so don't worry about suggesting even the most obvious ones.

Take a look at the Drakensang series. Based on the German tabletop game Das Schwarze Auge (The Dark Eye, the same setting as Chains of Satinav, Blackguards, Realms of Arkania and a few others), so some similarities to other tabletop-licensed games such as Neverwinter Nights. Fairly low sysreqs, so it might work on whatever you've got.

TBH, if it's low-spec (and therefore likely old) WRPGs you're looking for, you'd have had better luck with the GOG sale a few weeks ago.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Steam has Arcanum: Of Steamworks (heh) And Magick Obscura. Old but great.

Just submitted a refund request for DOOM. Worth £10, not worth 80 gigs, and the one feature that, when I heard about it, made me think "Oh cool, I'll buy it now" was the inclusion of classic levels, which... turned out to be awful in practice.

I'll get Hitman instead.
